MASSIVE teams fill their stands with home fans and allocate the smallest amount to away fans.
Wednesday give up to 8k to away fans, probably the most in the England. MASSIVE!
28K V Huddersfield. what did you lot get again?
and the best bit is your away support, 300 to Hartlepool? lol
You're missing the point here. No one is claiming that we're as big as you.
You're claiming that you're MASSIVE which is comical. Atleast when Man City claimed it you could understand where they were coming from.
Jesus Christ,(apologies to anyone religious) you still don't get the massive thing do you? lol, can some of the more sensible addicks please educate him.
Not Ill informed one bit, might not be the case now but it was and you all know it.
Actually it is ill informed but an understandable mistake for someone from Yorkshire to make.
House prices in SE London (and London generally) were such that many of us (and I am exhibit A) were forced to migrate into kent in order to purchase a reasonable amount of living space to bring up our families.
Selhurst Park, although geographically only about 8 miles from The Valley, can take an extra 2 hours to get to from Kent. Hence many Kentish exiles "lapsed" or became irregular.
Once we returned to The Valley and developed it the buses, known as Valley Express, were brought in to facilitate travel from known areas fans were exiled to. Part of the reasoning behind this was to satisfy the anti- motorist sentiments of Greenwich Council thus facilitating planning permission.
Some new fans were picked up but the majority were lapsed as described to the extent that Medway, which is about 30 odd miles from The Valley, became one of the highest areas for season ticket holders.
i guess over people fancy doing other things with their time than paying 80 notes (food, drink, train, match) to travel up to Sheffield. Just the way it is unfortunately.
Jeez that's apoor turn out mike, I would of thought at least 3k.
So how come when we played you in the FA Cup a few years ago you had about 2-3k ? and for a top-of-the-table clash you can only manage 1k?
Recession and general January skintness following a surplus of away games (13 out of 24 so far with two in the Christmas period) might be contributory factors.
Why are so many sheffield wednesday fans obsessed with our away attendences? Yes, we dont have an amazing away following. Big deal, get over it.
They have to be obsessed with attendance because they can't talk about being top of the league. That position is currently held by some other team. One with poor away attendance apparently..
I remember coming to selhurst in 89, you was already relegated but I swear we had more Wednesday in the ground then Charlton.
Well Charlton were already relegated by then and as another poster said we very rarely got big attendances at Selhurst. Wednesday on the other hand still had a chance of staying up, hence the large away following. A 0-3 home loss to Forest a week later however......

First time up to Wednesdy. Is it best to have a few drinks in the Howard or Globe and then cab or tram to the ground. or are there any decent pubs nearer to the ground?
