  • Agreed offit I hang my head in shame, I guess I am an older boy than I realise 8+)
  • anyone know the final figure for our support yesterday? if it was 2,500, which I reckon is likely, we had half the ground. Wonder when was the last time we managed that. Orient turnout was pathetic, but Sky should be ashamed of themselves for such a ridiculous schedule, and thank us for providing an atmosphere.

Also can anyone link to the highlights on Sky and post it on here? otherwise i have to 'sign up', heaven knows why as I already shell 'em out 20/month. Somebody posted the Sky link to Yeovil and i was able to view it without any signin. Thanks.
  • think it was under 2000 prague nowhere near 2500
  • 1994 addicks

Looked more if that stand holds 3100

  • looked about right
  • I have been on 4 mile walk to pick the car up.This thread kept me occupied during the walk. As long as we learn from our mistakes we will be better for it.
We needed specialist midfielders once we went down to 10 men.BWP should have been sacrificed as Yann can hold the ball up.Abbott did it last season, which allowed the midfield to break with pace. We need to freshen things up hopefully Stephens can give us that lift and Clarke. I do feel we need a potent threat to bring on.

that would mean less than 200 walk up tickets, I would've thought there were more than that who fancied an evening at the footie in planned
  • Hadnt we sold 1800 and something in advance? I dont believe the walk up was only about 150 after numerous posts on here saying people didnt have tickets but were paying on the day
  • If that stand holds 3.1k then there was about 2.6k atleast there imo.
  • Hats off to the old boy who fronted the divs that sung the lisbie song, I was with you my man all night long, to the div that only wanted to front an old man., shame on you prick you shouldve come outside and squared it off like I said you no mark mug, I hope you post here I'd love to discuss it further

It was me that 'fronted' them last night ,I just had enough of the racism trying to sing the Millwall song about East London being like Bengal as well as pathetic Addams family song which unfortuneatly around half time got joined in by a significant minority .

I snapped when I heard the Lisbie song .It was interesting that his mates were sh...ing themselves and tried to distance themselves from him when the Police and Stewards got involved .Rather than get involved in a scuffle I said he could hit me if it made him feel better , he then backed off . I was pleased that there were a few Charlton fans in the next block who vocally supported me during the incident.

His mates had the cheek to say I was an embarassment and to sit down.I don't want any trouble at Charlton games and feel ashamed when our supporters act this way.

If he or any of his mates are reading this I would like them to justify why they want to embarrass Charlton by acting in the way they do . We have been seen as the leading Anti Racist club and we are justly proud of that .

Nice one lads. Glad to see these f*cking idiots fronted out. I went yesterday expecting to be surrounded by morons but I wasn't. I was in the middle of the stand and heard nothing but support for the team. Should have gone 4-4-1 I think as soon as the sending off happened. But fingers crossed for tomorrow. I'm nervous already!

Good news, very good news.Tactical play or realistic chance?

Clever isn't it, Sullivan would probably have started against Fulham anyway so if the appeal is turned down he'll miss that game.
  • yes, very clever. Although the FA like to deem Charlton appeals 'frivolous" on the grounds that we are not Manchester United, so I hope that doesnt happen here.
  • Liked how Orient only decided to have two turnstiles for blocks A and B open meaning a rush to find your seat in time for kick off

The FA have no say in this though, it's a FL matter, I'm not certain whether that law applies in the football league.

Appealing the red card means not having to sign a keeper on loan if CP doesn't trust having Gough or Pope as the reserve.
  • I'm pretty sure the FA govern the referees regardless of leagues. So it will be their appeal committee rather than a FL one?
  • Less than 2k in our position even if it was live on terrestrial televison at 2am on christmas day is poor
Although as usual I'm sure they keep making our offiicial away numbers low
  • It seemed like more than 2moz to me

That's what I thought too. They might have a chance if, as some said, Morrison was already covering (cannot be sure, myself). Interesting turn of events
  • Sullivan was terrible although I don't think he was at fault for goal but every set piece they had, It looked like they were going to score and thankfully Mooney and Lisbie were terrible.

  • "Orient 1,831 (sold out at The Valley, on sale at Brisbane Road tomorrow)"
    So indeed, only 160 walk-ups?
I smell a VAT scam, its an East End footie club speciality. Allegedly

Either way, oohaah, away fans as 40% or more of the total attendance, that is the way to look at this one
  • look at it on sky plenty seats on show it was what it was
  • The outstanding thing for me was the way in which Orient played tactically in response to the sending off. Playing in triangles to keep possession and make us work, ok it was11, against 10 but I was impressed.
  • Not read the rest of the thread as I've joined it so late on in the aftermath of last night's loss. I felt to be honest that we looked a little jaded and after 'that' sending off we just tried to suck up the pressure and hope they didnt score. I'm not sure that even with 11 we would have won, they seemed more 'up for it'. However 2 losses in 23 games is more than respectable and I'm looking forward to seeing how the lads respond tomorrow. Nothing to get overly worried about just a bad day at the office all round and tomorrow is another day.

Match thread from circa 2 pm.
  • @NLA and Off It   Being old is not really an insult.
  • I didn't see any of the match, only listened to the commentary, and it seemed like we were under the cosh for most of the game (apart from the last 10 minutes). I agree that 'maybe' the best option would have been to leave Waggy on and take Yann or BWP off. However, I say 'maybe' because that's the way CP approaches games and i think that's why we're still 4 points clear. He admits to always wanting to win a game and I think that's great. It means he sometimes may take risks but with the right attacking flair on the pitch we'll always be in with a chance of winning. It didn't quite work out yesterday but I'd much rather have this general approach than the dross we've been dealing with for the past few years.
  • Read through this quickly and not sure how much more I can add to the game as whole. Clearly a mistake to take of Waggy as his running won us the match last time, and leaving BWP on was an error as even though I felt he did put his running in, closing down and harrying isn't one of his strengths and it showed. Wouldn't fault him for effort, it's just a mistake to ask him to do something he can't do well when he's a very specialised player.

I feel vindicated now in arguing with all the people who claimed we didn't need a keeper on the bench. Hamer was stupid to give the ref the option to send him off and we would have been completely sunk without a keeper to bring on. Anyone who thinks Taylor is an actual option is kidding themselves.

I've noticed some people didn't really rate Russell's contribution. I thought he was fantastic. When down to 10 men you need hard work and Russell was putting in crunching challenges in our half and he was one of the only players really trying to put some forward impetus into our attacks.

Highlight of the night for me was when Orient's goal was disallowed. One of the 7 Orient fans making noise had been giving it large ever since the sending off, and took off his shirt and swung it round his head when the ball went in, only to sheepishly have to put it back on and sit down when it was chalked off. He was also the last to notice it didn't count. Genius

and maybe more if the appeal is deemed frivolous.
