  • At times it felt like they had three or four more players than us. The sending off changed the game. From my point of view powell decided to concentrate on staying defensively tight until the last 10 minutes and we did have a chance of nicking a draw in the end. Having said that orient should have won by more than the one goal. I thought we had a lot more luck in that game than they did. We are going to lose games and it is how we respond that is important. Let's go on another winning run!
  • Haven't read anything yet but think CP and the players had one really bad day at the office but it's probably been on the cards as i think weve hit a bit of a lull in form. Surprised CP played Jackson - half hour at the end would have been the norm. Hamer was in the wrong, no question. CP then acted likea  fan rather than pragmatic manager. He should have taken BWP off, played Kermo up on own and brought an extra midfielder on. Don't think Russel is the answer and hopefully Stephens and Green anda  fit again Jackson will re ignite some creativity which i think is impacting on BWP, who needs to find form again as he is a luxury we cannot afford when not scoring.
  • Dan..........just about ALL goal scorers are a luxury sides cannot afford when they're not scoring........but you simply 'have' to play them or completely give up on them..........you takes your money and takes your choice.

I'm in the 'keep on playing him' camp.

Thought CP made the wrong choice by taking off Wagstaff. As Dailly said at half-time, waggy is a great athelete who would chase down all game long. Think Powell realised his mistake (albeit too late) when he finally went 4-4-1 and brought on Pritchard as we looked better for it with the two banks of 4.

Unfortunately, Hamer had to go. Don't blame him, just one of those silly decisions all players make, just a bugger when it's the keeper. Have no problem with Sullivan. Good keeper at this level and a lot better than most teams 2nd choice and would probably hold a No1 shirt at plenty of L1 clubs.

Must say I thought that it was the worst I've seen Morrison play in a charlton shirt. Seemed very rash at got caught out of position too many times. This would have undoubtebly have got the Wendys wetting themselves.

Wiggins stood out as MOTM (in a charlton shirt) causing them problems whenever he got the chance to get forward.

No need to hit the panic button. If you would have said to me at the beginning of the season that we'd be 4 points behind the leaders at the halfway point i'd have been happy, so to be 4 points clear is all good for me.

    Happy new year folks.
  • At least JJ got 80 mins under his belt, looked rusty obviously, but very much missed

2 losses, 2 deflected goals (and Tranmere), move on have faith

    COYR

p.s. I would like to see hughes back in tomorrow
  • Hats off to the old boy who fronted the divs that sung the lisbie song, I was with you my man all night long, to the div that only wanted to front an old man., shame on you prick you shouldve come outside and squared it off like I said you no mark mug, I hope you post here I'd love to discuss it further

It was me that 'fronted' them last night ,I just had enough of the racism trying to sing the Millwall song about East London being like Bengal as well as pathetic Addams family song which unfortuneatly around half time got joined in by a significant minority .

I snapped when I heard the Lisbie song .It was interesting that his mates were sh...ing themselves and tried to distance themselves from him when the Police and Stewards got involved .Rather than get involved in a scuffle I said he could hit me if it made him feel better , he then backed off . I was pleased that there were a few Charlton fans in the next block who vocally supported me during the incident.

His mates had the cheek to say I was an embarassment and to sit down.I don't want any trouble at Charlton games and feel ashamed when our supporters act this way.

If he or any of his mates are reading this I would like them to justify why they want to embarrass Charlton by acting in the way they do . We have been seen as the leading Anti Racist club and we are justly proud of that .

  • was at the game.  even before the sending off we were playing the long ball!  WTF?  Wasnt till Pritchard that we started to put the ball on the ground and wre at our dangerous best!

Enough ofvthe long ball, SCP, pleeze?
  • Richard J

Good for you mate. Top top man. We were down the front of that part of the stand, towards the left hand side, that was it, when the police moved in, right.

I'm glad you received some support. I remember years ago a similar group of mouthy kids started similar racist crap, up at Oxford on a terrace. Mark Mansfield told em to pack it in. They said "we're just havin a laugh". Mark said "I don't think its funny" . I said "neither do I". But I wondered what the two big lary blokes in front of us were going to do. One of them turned round and said" "I don't think its funny either". They shut up. Not just for that match, but whenever I saw them again.

You did a good thing there, mate. You should be bloody proud of yourself.
  • yes, very well done.

Remember doing a similar thing at Sarfampton some years back when some fella shouted out Bollox at the top of his voice during a minutes silence for their team coach driver who had been killed a few days earlier on the M3.

I was so angry and dug the geezer out despite him having a little firm with him it could so easily have turned nasty.........they made a few noises but in truth I think even they knew the fella was out of order.

When you have right on your side you can easily find the courage to speak out if you feel justified.

  • Richard well done for showing that these individuals don't represent all Charlton fans.

  • Havnts seen it again but no chance was that a sending off from my view, BWP looked so lazy and disinterested.

Thought the Full Backs, Pritchard and Kermorgant were our best players, Decent atmosphere and Orient really are a joke club....Was queing up outside for 10 minutes as they wanted to search everyone with just 1 turnstile open

thats one option - the other is to bench him and bring him back in after a game or so but you need
options to be able to do that which we don't have at the moment although Clarke will help.

We are 4 points clear at the top of the league-----------thats FOUR POINTS CLEAR AT THE TOP OF THE LEAGUE

one year ago we were watching possibly the worst CAFC team EVER ----------------------------thats one year ago.

tad unlucky with the sending off -- lucky with the offside goal which wasnt---shot to pieces in first half by the sending off. CP got them organized in second and we half played well enough ---full backs were very good---Hollands got forward more.  88 mins with 10 men thats one hell of a battle.

BWP whats all this total BOLLOX about ?  did Hales chase every ball ? or Benty ? or Mendonca ?  If an agent (any agent) sees that Kak on here orhears it-- he will be off---end off -- he will be off. maybe the day before the transfer deadline and then maybe some self destructing twonks on here will get what they want. Which will also be the end of our chance of getting out of this shit league.

One large moan please please CP bring back Hughes--------------Hollands and Jacko get forward more knowing he is there.

  • Richard I was the fat skin head in the block next to u mate , I shouted them down from where I was and then when the prick thought he should take up the issue with you that was enough for me and I had your back buddy , funny he didn't went to take his grievance up with me ,

Well played mate , I think the message may well have got home to them divs and if your reading this mugs, our manager is black, bwp black, pritchard black, Russell black, dyer black shall i continue

Take note enough is enough shut your dirty filthy racist mouths
  • Felt sorry for our fans who went to the game but a lovely 'Valley Floyd Road' came over well.
Weird that the O's looked so tired at the end of the game. We nearly nicked an undeserved point.
Agree that Jackson should have come off as Cook and co gave Solly a tough time down the left side and Waggy would have helped to snuff that out.
BWP will be okay, just having a striker goal drought. As for Mooney, surely on his way down a league or two.
  • Lots of Mystic Meg's on here who are

    a) certain that we would've won the game with 11 men; or
    b) certain that going down to 10 men made no difference and we would've lost anyway.

Not quiet as suicidal a thread as I was expecting though, so very well done to all.
    Another scintillating contribution off_it.
How about giving us a view instead of the usual patronising sh1t aimed at other posters?
    Just a thought, mate

Excuse me? Are you that sad you didn't have anything better to do than have a completely random pop at me for no reason two hours into the New Year, "mate"?

    Happy New Year, sweetheart.
  • Wasn't wierd they looked so tired- they worked their socks off. I think Chrissy was hoping we would take advantage when this happened and on another day we could have but it was just one of those games. Best forgotton about and with a game tomorrow, that is exactly what will happen.
  • I find it very hard to disagree with Goonerhater.

Thats quality GH - who writes you're material?
  • Let's get one thing straight - BWP is a quality goalscorer and we are all glad he is with us but he should be treated exactly the same as any other player and if he's havinga dip in form, which he is, he should be as prone to being subbed as anybody else and yesterday, he should have been the one to go off. When a side go down to 10 men, they nearly always leave one up front and that one will be the one who can cover ground and be a bit of a physical presence. CP is doing a great job, BWP is a top striker but occassionally they get it wrong and yesterday was one of those days. I'm not havinga  pop at anybody, just telling it like it is.

Thought the red card was a shocking decision by the referee. I agree that Hamer should not have
come out like that but the ball landed under his arm and his hands were
right up in the air, so how on earth can the referee class that has a
handball, let alone a sending off I do not know.

I thought Powell was wrong to take off Scott Wagstaff because since Waggy was taken off
Orient dominated in the midfield and it was no suprise that they had the
better of the 1st half. I thought he should have taken BWP off and get
the two wide men to support Kermot when we attack, I feel we could have
won that way. Since Pichard came on we dominated the last 15 mins and
    could have got a goal.

Fair play to Leyton Orient though, liked
the way they kept possession and they should have beaten us by more
because their goal was not offside and I would not have complained if
    the Ref gave a penalty.
  •

Thanks NLA it was good to hear the support I got from the other section . Its also a life defining moment because its the first time I've been described as an old boy LOL.

And I agree Prague in that I hope if I ever see them again that they never sing racist songs again . I don't want our excellant reputation spoilt by a stupid minority.

I think that is spot on Bexley Dan.
Personally I just have a problem with people focussing on him being apparently "lazy and disinterested" and wilfully overlooking the bigger picture.
He's there to score goals, which he does, regularly and we won't get promoted without him IMO

If a defender has his arms up in the penalty box to make himself as big as possible and the ball hits it then it is deemed deliberate. Is a keeper not doing the same by raising his arms and if he isn't what was Hamer trying to do - frighten the forward into missing?

Maybe, maybe Disco - but if it had happened up the other end wouldn't we all have been screaming at the ref for the same outcome?
As soon as I saw the incident I expected him to go
  • edited January 2012
Goalkeepers automatically put their arms up if they are going to be lobbed and rarely venture out of the penalty area which is why the referee should have been a bit more lenient IMO.
  • You were older than them mate and tbh I only saw you from behind sorry if you ain't old , you had a fair bit of support from our section mate which proberly his foolhardy pals noticed but he never ,

I think the penny dropped because they never even finished the song before they shut up

That taint supporting a team regardless of what they may think,
  • Bit of backtracking there nla?

Can't wait for the day someone refers to you as an "old boy", old boy.
