[cite]Posted By: Bedsaddick[/cite]Reading this thread i have come to the conclusion that we have many fans who deserve a team in league two.
Great, because that would appear to be exactly where we are heading under Powell.
Bully for you if you are happy to continue in that direction and then just blame Parky and the fans.
Wake up and smell the pigshit, Beds.
Then instead of destroying another manager come up with a solution because nothing i have seen you say on on this subject has been anything other than negative. You wake up and smell the pig shit as you so hilariously put it and realise 1- No one could make this team play well . 2- Who , that is better than we have had , would come to Charlton this season when they know that they are likely to be sacked within weeks when people like you decide that they have no clear vision. How do you know Chris Powell has no clear vision?
The pro I spoke too tonight said Powell was trying to change the way we played but we perhaps didn't have the players to do what was expected.
The problem to me is a great number of this squad won't be here in a few months and Powell's mistake has been to try and polish the turds, even those he's knows are not good enough. I would have more respect for Powell if he threw some of the players out of the squad to at least acknowledge how awful some of them are and took a chance on the youth. Jenkinson has been a rare joy in recent weeks and I hope Powell has the balls to make similar choices in the coming games.
Yet again Insufferable Addick has decided to make up a statistic to back up his prejudices.
As for me being fickle how could he know, I never said which one the three options I preferred but of course Nigel W knows what other people think even before they have said it themselves.
DFT you are entitled to your view and after today I fully understand your frustration.
Why though do you only come onto this site to suggest sacking the manager? I can't recall you ever posting anything positive. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

That's simply not true. Parky for one made this team play better. That's the sad thing. Parky for his faults got much more football out of this side than Powell has in his 11 games. That's what is really worrying me. We were right in the mix for automatic promotion but have plummeted into midtable and no matter what anyone says about Powell needing time, Slater and co would be crazy if they're not fully investigating as to why this has happened. I would also add that it's fine having a clear vision but if it's not the right vision it doesn't matter a heck!

I think the point is we are in freefall and in my opinion decisive action is required
2- Who , that is better than we have had , would come to Charlton this season when they know that they are likely to be sacked within weeks when people like you decide that they have no clear vision.
Nobody gets sacked as a result of what herberts like me say on a forum

So you would get rid of Powell now and not at the end of the season ?

I definitely wouldn't sack Powell now but I believe there'll be a real think at the end of the season, when the clearout happens, as to whether he's the right man to take us on. Saying things like what a great player Doc has been for him will not help his cause, nor will persisting with playing McCormack who just looks a woeful player, though we're not short on woeful players!
Beds, put aside what you feel for Powell and give me an honest assessment of what you think Powell has done since joining the club and what makes you think he'll get it right next season.
From my point of view my love for the man keeps forcing me to believe he'll get it right but my head is screaming that he's come to this job too early in his career and that it will all end in tears.
I would add that comments like go and follow Millwall are a bit silly and I think you need to bear in mind that there aren't many glory hunters at our club these days just the loyal but frustrated few.

Yep, I'm positive that Powell should get the sack or resign immediately, seems that the majority agree with me too!!!

You don't turn woeful players into good or even competent players by slagging them off in the media, the chances are you'll make them worse. How often do you see Ferguson or Wenger slagging off under-performers in post-match interviews? Wenger in particular is famous for never saying anything remotely critical about his players when interviewed, or for even seeing fouls - and that even goes for acts of attempted murder that took place two yards in front of the dug out. What he says and does behind closed changing room doors is though another matter.Currently we are light in one or two key areas - the left side without JJ, central midfield and the entire defence needs an overhaul etc, but I'd rather judge CP when he's had an opportunity to draft his own team and get them playing to his style. It's too soon to ditch the new manager.
For those that say we are worse now than under Parky, you need a reality check. We were dire under Parky, but I do see that Powell is trying to get the players to pass and move and play football again. If he hasn't got the personnel to play that way then he needs time and money to impart his philosophy on the team.
Agree with you Mart77. Some of the players haven't bought into Powells take on things. Maybe the won't or maybe they can't play the way he wants. Knowing you are going to out of you current job in a few months does not always mean 100% commitment.
They should be professional and play with pride and to get a new job. Some will, some won't. Powell needs to cope with that reality now. I know he is trying to forge better team bonding and spiret and can see what is wrong just as we can. Difference is that it is his job to do something about it.
He's the boss, its a bloody hard job(as it was for Parky) and I really hope he gets the time and support to get it right.

[cite]Posted By: D_F_T[/cite]oohaahmortimer don't be such a plonker with the SCP, he's blown that!
he will always be Sir Chris Powell to me
in his 5 minutes as manager he has been junk
but I will always remember the moment i heard that England were going to have a Charlton player in their team and I got my tickets for Villa Park and was more than proud to see a Charlton representative in England colours for the first time in my lifetime
not forgetting that he represented us through the glory years with great honour and pride
a Charlton legend and always will be just like Mark Kinsella even though as a coach his time was a nightmare as well

Another issue is how much time can CP have?
This summer will see a complete rebuild of the squad and it will inevitably mean more time is needed for the squad to gel/settle. The question is how much time do you give?
The truth is I haven't got a clue how to answer any of the big questions that are facing the Club at the moment? Which players should stay/go? Who should be in charge? How long will he be given to get things right? How can we attract and keep all those fans that have left or are considering leaving?
It's an unbelievable task ahead for our new owners.
I said to my mates before the game that anyone who's starts a new job need's to be given time and allowances made for fuck ups. I stick by that, despite what I watched today. Got to give him time to learn. I will add that I thought his appointment was ill advised.

Becoming worringly frequent this
Give him a chance to build a squad of his players in the summer, then judge him after next season.
Spot On.
You ain't got any mates!
