its a difficult one Len. I would say from his physique and touch benson is more of a come short, link-up type of player...but also has an element of 'fox in the box'. If Joe gets injured i would probably prefer benson to come in as i see BWP and ecclestone as in behind players. get it into beno's feet and get him to link our midfield...hopefully involve our wide players. benno is decent in the air, we saw that at carlisle. I really dont rate abbott or sodjes link-up play, their touches arent good enough.
Well, I think that Abbott and Akpo are goners. I do think that we haven't got the best out of Benson and that Chrissy will pair JA with either BWP or NE, and Benson with the other. Waggy to play as well gives us a lot of pace. If Chrissy can get inside Kyles Reids head and sort him out we start to have real quality up front.
Now for Jimenez to pull some strings and get in Patrick Viera on loan, with maybe a spare Citeh central defender and we're made.
Hang on a minute. A few weeks ago, Benson and Anyinsah were everyones favorite partnership. Now a number are suggesting Benson should go. He has contributed more goals than Abbott and Sodje combined.
Benson looked a much better player alongside Anyinsah. No reason why he cant play with alongside Eccleston or Wright-Phillips.
Said it already, I reckon Abbott is a goner and probably Sodje as well.
I would want to keep one of Abbott or Sodje. You never know when having a big lump up front might prove crucial somewhere. I'm happy with going for the four front line strikers but I would like that something more physical in the squad and though Benson is 6'2" he isn't a targetman
By the way that means I'd 100% keep Benson, he has to have the chance to show us what he can do in our new set-up considering what we spent on him, as Clem says he has been a big contributor and might well be a good foil for all of our three quicks

other than swindon at home with 9 players when has sodje ever impossed himself on a game??!
Personally he's not good enough to play week in week out and if he's not playin every week he'll never get his confidence up, 5min here and there arnt gonna help him, him and Abbot need to move on if they arnt going to contribute more than cameo's - actualy think theres a good league one player in Abbot
scruffle you make a good point but don't forget that winner against Leeds gave us a bit of hope at least but if you move them both on can you really go forward with 4 strikers, none of whom are genuine physical presences, two are injury prone and one is a very young, albeit talented loanee - I just can't see two of them going
A lot of talk about who our front two should be but maybe Powell's planning on eventually using a form of 4-3-3/4-5-1. I think he'll probably stick with 4-4-2 but we potentially have several options now for a front 3 with Waggy, Eccleston, BWP, Anyinsah, Reid, Benson and Abbott/Sodje (as said one probably now going to leave). Two out and out wingers in a 4-4-2 didn't work for us earlier this season and a 3 man central midfield does encourage and help players to keep the ball on the floor.
Will be interesting to see what Powell does with the line up over the rest of the season
A playmaker, extend Fry's loan (or replace him) and get a centre back with a bit of pace and the squad will look a lot stronger than it did a month ago.
Impressed with this signing. Almost 150 posts in 2 hours suggests the majority of us are excited about it too.Certainly sends out a message o fthe new owners intent. The only thing that worries me slightly is his knee, you just know he'll re-injure it within a month and be out for the season. But until then it's happy days, BWP, Benson, Anyinsah and Eccleston is a very good strike force at this level.

Nobody would take a chance on Mendonca, we did and look where he took us.
Excellent signing, brilliant news. This underlines just where the new owners are wanting to take Charlton Athletic, at one point we are scratching around for frontmen now we have a massive choice! As many have said--This club is on the up!! Welcome aboard BWP!!!
Seems a good signing.Just watched the youtube medley and he does seem to create a lot of his goals himself which i think also gives us something different.
In terms of style he reminds me a bit of a lower level Defoe in those clips (no offence intended, purely a style point)... a little nippy striker that makes things happen and he doesn't half give the ball a tonk when he gets in and around goal. He certainly isn't a side-foot kind of striker!

Somebody earlier mentioned Jesus. I didn't realise we were getting his whole crew. If we've now got a poor man's Judas, perhaps we should try and re-sign Thomas, and somebody called Peter?

Oh I was hoping he might be good......:-)
LOL
I think Jesus had it easier turning water into wine!

Ha ha I wouldn't mind him but he's absolute toilet didn't anything for us last year either.

*NEW* *NEW Dailey Fry

Encouraging words from the PAFC fans too:
'good signing for Charlton, very good, could easily play in most championship teams and do very well, they must've offered the best fee.
Glad we haven't got to play them again, he could really make a difference to their season'
I agree with ya Scruffle, we've seen glimpes' of talent in Abbott but he just hasn't been given a proper chance
Will be interesting to see what Powell does with the line up over the rest of the season

Is there such a thing??? Nothing as low as Jermaine Defoe.

haha I knew I'd get slated but I think stylistically the way he takes the ball down and his shot technique bears similarity
