[cite]Posted By: bingaddick[/cite]Blimey, we sign ex Premier League striker with an excellent pedigree and still some aren't happy! If we were told Messi was coming, some people would still question whether he can hack the climate and wonder whether he can settle.
Given where we were before Christmas, we now have a legend as a manager, a Liverpool starlet and a former Man City striker with a decent track record at this level. Add Jackson's goals as well and we really will have a potent strike force.
In my opinion as well Joe Anyinsah and Paul Benson are also a decent part of this potent strike force.
Not sure about Messi. Who would you drop to accommodate him?

It'd be a touch choice between Messi and Oxo Tower for that right-wing slot.
Impressed if he chose us over Glasgow Rangers as I understood on Saturday that they had a £300K bid agreed & we had a £200K bid agreed.
Seems like a great deal to me if it is £200k (undisclosed). If he gets us up it's well worth it & if he does & is fit we can renegotiate his 18 month deal.
If it doesn't work out and/or he's crocked then it's money gone, but a gamble well worth taking IMO.
[cite]Posted By: jazzyjazzyjazzy[/cite]So will this mean no more Anyinsah starting? or....
I think Joe will start alongside one of BWP or Eccles and then when he's done his 70 minutes the other one will come on and we will blitz tiring defenders with pace for 20 minutes. Waggy will probably revert to the wing.
Apparantly Reading and Blackpool and Glasgow Rangers were interested which is quite interesting....managers see something in the player worth persuing.
[cite]Posted By: supaclive[/cite]Pace up front to stretch the opposition. If we can get some pace in at centre half, then I'm confident the results will continue.
Your so right, pace in midfield was see goals flooding in.
BWP and Ecclestone wont start together. we dont have that creative player in midfield to get both in behind and down the sides of oppositions centre halves. Anyinsah has done enough for me to warrrant a starting place with one of the new boys starting with him.
feel a bit sorry for Benno, especially after reading his article last week but competition is healthy and thats good for the club.

Yeah to have Anyinsah dropped would annoy me actually, so hope you are right mate.

Strange as it might seem I reckon Benson could be the one to go. Akpo and Abbott can both (sort of) do Anyinsah's job and are probably (Akpo definitely) quicker than Benson too.

really cant see us getting rid of benson, he's had some decent games and hopefully with a change in playing style he can be given a chance to show what he can do.
Abbott is not for me, i think akpo is actually more of an asset off the bench.
The football league paper suggested £300k yesterday. Without wanting to be negative, my mate who is a Saints season-ticket holder said he was toss for them despite scoring a handful of goals. However, he was younger then so maybe he's matured. I think league one is probably his level so fingers crossed he can score the goals for us. Mind you we signed Andy Gray when he had 13 goals for Burnley in January...
Benson is suddenly 4th choice, will be interesting to see how his season pans out...

That was my initial thought too but thinking some more I couldn't really see where and how Benson would fit in. He's not really a target man (Akpo and Abbott are) although he tried under Parky and he isn't pacy either. How do you see him being used?

Now that would be nice!!!

Unless BWP is going to play wide right, then i reckon we'll see either benson or anyinsah making way.
Move over Sodje's! Altho I has gone but you know what I mean.

Lets hope he continues to add to his goal tally and fire us up.
I reckon he'll play BWP and Anyinsah as the front two with Benson and Eccleston on the bench.
Benson to go for me in that case but I would like to see Anyinsah - Eccleston and Phillps sitting behind them both?

I reckon both Abbot and Sodje may have played their last games for us now.

BWP, Joe, Benson, Akpo, Pawell, Who will start on Saturday ?
I remember somebody posting a similar video of Izale McLeod when we signed him. Doesn't show the ones he missed though does it!

Still shows he has the ability.. Some class goals in there.
Some very classy finishing there, let's hope he does it for us.
