[quote][cite]Posted By: Addick Addict[/cite]Did he not fail a medical at Reading (knee) last week which is why that move fell through. Or have I got that wrong?[/quote]
[cite]Posted By: Covered_End_Lad[/cite]so anyone have a clue how much he cost? my guess is in the 500k region
Reading's offer accepted the other week was £300k.
I imagine it would've been closer to £200k as their desperation to shift him took over.
Great signing IF he stays fit... but I'd really like to see a couple more bodies in now at least. A CB is imperative. A LB is an option if we resign Fry and shuffle him across to CB. A central ball-playing midfielder is dreamland.
Good signing I think, and as said surely means a striker is leaving.
I asked the Plymouth FM researcher about him when we were linked about a month ago, he was apparently on £8k a week at Plymouth. He has rated him as Plymouth's best player for the next FM update.
From Wikipedia: On 9 March 2008, Wright-Phillips, along with team-mate Nathan Dyer, was accused of stealing money, mobile phones and other items from bar staff at Bar Bluu in Southsea in the early hours of 28 February 2008. CCTV footage taken at the time appeared to show a theft taking place.[4]
On 25 March 2008, Dyer and Wright-Phillips were both arrested over the theft and were questioned at a Portsmouth police station.[5] They were formally charged with burglary on 17 June. They appeared before Portsmouth magistrates on 8 July 2008.[6] Dyer was convicted of burglary and sentenced to community service and made to pay compensation and costs. Wright-Phillips pleaded not guilty, and opted to be tried at Crown Court. He was due to appear before Portsmouth magistrates again on 2 September 2008.[7] However the charges were dropped due to insufficient evidence.
A year later he and team-mate David McGoldrick were arrested on suspicion of assaulting a Southampton supporter while on a night out. The 21-year-old Saints fan told police that he was attacked by the two footballers in a Southampton street as he made his way home from a night out. The incident is alleged to have happened on Saturday, 7 February after players went drinking in the city.[8] On 13 March, the club announced: "After a thorough police investigation the Crown Prosecution Service has decided not to press any charges against either Bradley Wright-Phillips or David McGoldrick, and no further action will be taken against them."[9]
[cite]Posted By: TEL[/cite]Top signing nice lad too
For some reason I thought he had a chequered background. Especially at Southampton.
Didn't he steal some toilets seat's from b'n'q or something like that?
That was Glen Johnson. Bradley and Nathan Dyer were half inched for nicking handbags in a nightclub in Portsmouth. Dyer got done, insufficient evidence on BWP.
The comments about his knee all seem to be suggesting it is a manageable situation. Hopefully he'll get through till the end of season and get it sorted in the summer.
Plenty of players have existed with these sorts of injuries. Limited training etc.
Chairman Slater also hinted that his partner’s connections may also lead to loan deals from Premier League clubs.
He said: “I read some comments on the fans’ forum that we’ll be making a £750,000 bid for Bradley Wright-Phillips at Plymouth but I simply don’t know where these things come from.
“I hope by the end of this week that there could be other announcements that could be made.
“We need to also be clever about loanee signings as well, that’s where Tony’s contacts are going to be crucial.
“Not too many Premier League clubs want to send out players below the Championship but we feel we might be able to use Tony’s contacts and secure some loanees.”
See today's South London Press for the full interview with Slater.
The 25-year-old, who is the top scorer in League One with 13 goals this season, sat out the Pilgrims' away defeats by Bournemouth and Huddersfield in anticipation of the move.
However, the Royals have confirmed they are no longer interested in signing the former Southampton man following the results of Wright-Phillips' medical.
Director of football Nick Hammond told the club's official website: "We are disappointed as Bradley is a fantastic young man, but there are currently some medical issues that prevent us from completing the deal at this time.
"I would like to thank Plymouth Argyle for their very professional approach in these discussions."
The "at this time" is rumoured to be an op he will need in the Summer on his knee.
i hoped chris dickson was going to turn out to be a new ian wright.. now we have wrighty jnr... as long as he knuckles down and dosnt get distracted by the bright lights of london town and stays away from night club store rooms then blimey we could have a real gem here. him and ecclestone could defo bag 15 plus each by may and god knows where that might take us, a front 2 to put the wind up any defence in the league and make people go blimey.. how did charlton sign them two..
[cite]Posted By: AFKABartram[/cite]Andy Gray was top scorer when we signed him...
Don't remind us!
Difference is Gray cost £1.5m and was 31. BWP is 25, should be approaching his peak and probably cost no more than a third of what Gray did. Only an 18 month contract in case it all goes wrong. Powell's first signing adding to what we have rather than Pardew's attempt to replace Todorov when he needed to replace Reid.
Brilliant news, our attacking side of things look to be sorted now then... Thanks for the goals Jackson, but I think they will be coming elsewhere now... but your welcome to add more of corse :-)
We now have Charlton's fastest ever two strikers. Just need a centre half with half as much speed as them and we are away! Don't forget Mendonca had serious injury history when we signed him...and he did alright, did n't he!
Comments
how bizarre
Sorry missed the other question re this.
Hopefully it was all a flash in the pan.

God that channel's gone downhill since the Keys/Gray sexism storm.

Don't know enough about BWP, him and Ec will definately add pace and something different

Wonder if his dad and our manager knowing each other helped. Plus having some dosh to spend as well.
Gray was also in the middle of a huge goal drought when we signed him. Never really ended did it.

Think he was scoffing at the price that was being quoted at the time, £850,00
Can he play attacking midfield or just striker?
