There could be 3 out of work premier league managers by the end of tonight...
Hodgson Grant Ancelotti
Which would you rather have? ;)
P.S Adam, no doubt you did see Mr Poyet (who was probably going to pick up his son), but it made me laugh thinking of the football rumours website where David Beckham apparently arrived (due to eye witness accounts, natch) at about 15 different UK airports simultaneously last night!
Going back to Adams spot of Poyet near The Valley. Surely if there was a meeting with Gus regarding the job it would be done at some secret hotel location wouldn't it. Hardly likely to be at The Valley.

was there a youth game tonight at the valley
You're probably right then, I just remember it being somewhere in London or Kent rather than Brighton.
A game I doubt it, parents evening maybe though...!
Nla, deffo mate he is quite distinctive tall dark hair etc I was outside charlton house waiting to cross the road tafic was bad as normal came up church lane and turned right towards the standard

By the way, I'm not jumping to any conclusions whatsoever, just think that the Valley is a pretty reasonable place to meet Slater and Jimenez, even if he lives next door to Jimenez. It's a bit more professional, no? Or they might be meeting more than one candidate in the day.
He's under contract at Brighton who unless they have given him permission to talk to Jimeniz/Slater or any other representative of the club will be more than somewhat miffed if they think he's talking to them about a job. The tapping up regulations are reasonably strict, so any meeting would need to take place somewhere quiet rather than in a public place.
Ok. If and it's a big big if that Poyet was talking to us about the job informally of course and then for whatever reason it came to nothing. How would Gus square that one to the Brighton faithful. Much more chance of being caught out at The Valley as Adam proves than meeting quietly in a hotel room somewhere. Nothing in this sighting I'm sure.
scoham i just did the same thing
and had a butchers
tbh i can not ever ever see this happening and i reckon there would be a real sensible reason as to why poyet may have been near the club, his son being there the most obvious,
if i was a brighton fan i would be laughing it off too, but i would secretly have a 1or 2 % doubt in my mind that it may happen but i would be 98-99% sure gustavo would be their manager for the next few years with the way their future seems to have panning out
1) The Brighton chairman can give permission to us to speak to him (or him to speak to us) without being resigned to losing him for nothing. It happens all the time.
2) Are you saying that we should 'tap up' other club's managers?
I would've assumed that if we were talking in any serious degree to a prospective manager that we would do so according to the book
From all accounts it sounds like Poyet is having a cracking time down there. He has a club with some cash, a chairman who backs him and his club are doing well.
If he is fickle enough to leave a situation that good halfway through the season then he is not the kind of man I want anywhere near our club. No matter how good he is.

I really do give up with all the doomongers I really do. Let's get the archbishop of Canterbury in. He must be suitable ?
I'm not a doomonger, I'd just rather have a manager we could keep hold of for a season or two. One who cares enough about our club to stay with us.
No point in getting promoted if we end up losing our star manager and struggling next year.
Thats just logic, not doom.
As I said probably nowt in it something to do with his son or just popping in for a cuppa with his best mates who have just bought a football club, it was busy tonight I'm sure I'm not the only person who saw him.

good spot if lived down that way with nothing to do i would be hanging about the place watching the comings and goings trying to get a snipit of what is going on.
seems a strange thing for poyet to be there and i dont doubt you at all, but the bit with his boy swings it for me that it is innocent ish

Why not at the Valley?

With his son at the club I'd think he was there to see him play.
Sheffield Wed fans wants Poyet as well
Bought himself a large box of Persil Colour and a patio heater.

Can you imagine if he came here and was at all succesful? He'd be snatched of us immediately by one of the top four prem sides in the blink of an eye!
