Completely agree that it would not make sense to appoint anyone before the spuds game - plus it gives our Keith a chance to enjoy himself which the supporters will appreciate.
But I would expect that behind the scenes, whoever it is to be will be identifying targets (if this has not already been done...I would expect that it has been tbh) and making the necessary moves to bring them in for a bit of team restructuring. I get the impression that our new owners are not the sorts to let the grass grow under their feet!
I have a feeling that whoever comes in is a name with a fair degree of experience. Having sacked Parkinson I don't think they are going to appoint a man who hasn't managed in at least The Championship. To do so would be a huge gamble and I don't think Slater and Jimenez want to gamble on promotion this season and want quality and experience. I realise this rules out Poyet but in all honesty I dont think he has ever been in the frame. I also don't believe that the new owners had already lined up a replacement for Parkinson although I would expect they had a list of names just in case Parkinson had to go. I am not expecting anyone to be named for at least another week. It's also seems clear that certain players had already been identified by someone other than PP so I fully expect a signing or two even if a new manager is several weeks off.
Gus Poyet says it will take something "out of this world" to tempt him away from Albion at the moment.
Several top flight jobs jobs could be up for grabs soon.
Carlo Ancelotti (Chelsea), Roy Hodgson (Liverpool), Avram Grant (West Ham) and Gerard Houllier (Aston Villa) are all under pressure in their Premier League posts.
Poyet admitted: "That is where I want to get to. I've said that all the time. There are two options. We get there all together, which is the easiest way and the nicest, because you have stayed in one place and made the football club better and better. Or, if we are not very good a player will leave and go to a bigger club or maybe the manager. That is the situation but I think right now it would have to be something out of this world to tempt me away from Brighton."
Poyet is just 1 season into his 1st full managerial role , he has turned round a relegation threatened team last season into a very tidy outfit and has them playing attractive football at times and when the going gets tough the players have learned to get a result by alls means possible, Brighton took a huge gamble on Poyet firstly by employing him secondly by giving him a 4 year contract and a reasonable kitty to bolster the team, he does things his way but gets results, and the players here totally respect the guy,i would be astounded if poyet left Brighton for any other club this season let alone Charlton ,he has all the peices in place to get Brighton into the championship next season and add to that the new stadium and the prospect of a much larger budget for players. Poyet has won nothing yet, and as a Brighton supporter its quite odd that other teams see him as the best thing since sliced bread, Why ? probably due to his succsessfull roles as 2nd in command ,football contacts ,and his general likeability i suppose, he needs a managerial cv to drop onto the desk of a club such as chelsea in the event they someday need another manager, the way to do this is to get Brighton into the championship and winning games in that league, not jumping ship half way through a season because of a few quid more in the bank ,loyalty in football these days is a rare commodity ,fingers crossed he sees out his contract with Brighton then moves on to his dream job .
Pretty much signals to me that he's not coming then and is big premiership team bound or West ham. ;-
As we've been saying all along....
He turned down the assistant job at Real Madrid (yes really...) to manage Brighton. He wants the chance to prove himself as a manager. He ain't gonna p*ss off half way through an early chance of doing so.
We're very lucky to have him - but it's an absolute 100% nailed on certainty he's going nowhere this season.
He will be around for another year at least even if don't go up this season. The "project" was to get Brighton promoted within two years and he's obviously a little ahead of schedule.

Now that's not quite true is it. He didn't turn it down to specifically manage Brighton. It's not as if Jose has come calling for his services. That was 2 years ago when he didn't follow Ramos to Real Madrid.
Hope not boogica. If so id at least want someone else with him to soften that blow.
Re Poyet, if we have made inquiries about getting him and he has turned us down to honour Brighton then he has gone up even more in my respect for him as gutted as i am.

was told they wanted poyet obviously couldnt get him gutted about that, but got phonecall this morning saying wise to be offered 3 year deal dont know what to think of that.
[cite]Posted By: RodneyCharltonTrotta[/cite]Probably worth a new thread of it's own East Stand in case? Get yourself some glory of being the first to announce new manager ;-)
I'm not in it for the glory, just thought I should share a possible scoop.
Here's hoping news pressure will force a statement.
If this is the decision, it surprises me. If the reaction of the fans on monday really bothered slater enough to sack parky, the appointment of wise is surely a massive risk. There is only one united opinion i can see on wise and that is a very negative one.
For me - the board need to back their man, and that means funds - whoever it is.

WUM: The clue is in His name.....
It's a wind-up from the folks at TheFootballRamble.com - they take the piss out of Jamie "Literally" Redknapp and often feature Diego Maradona stories

How many big movers is that now?
You literally had to ask if it was a wind up? are you literally serious?
That is not even a top, top wind up
At least, they wanted to talk to them.
Of course, any sensible person would tell them to sling their stripey hook.

Sounds more like Eric Cantona!!

Unexpectedly though, so surely no announcement is due or they would know as well

My 47th season of supporting Charlton ....... all things pass.
