I've just been reminded of the greatness of this man. Powell Interview
His last game ever tomorrow apparently, thanks for an amazing time with us Chrissy and for generally being an all round great bloke. If ever I wanted a player to have a successful life after playing it's him and hopefully we'll see him back at The Valley at some point in the future
brillaint interview.... hes just toal qaulity isnt he...
'Historic clubs are moving closer to the brink all the time. If they were historic buildings, someone would be arrested for wrecking them. Because they're football clubs, we let them get on with it. It's wrong.'
A brave interview, but then Chris will go far in my opinion, not only speaks with sense and integrity, but has an excellent vision of the way the game should be played.
He should be employed by the FA, a man with an excellent understanding of the modern day game, and it's unique position in modern day life......

Sir Chris has integrity ......... would never fit in at the FA.
1) "I'll always be linked to Charlton and I love the place dearly ......."
2) "When the businessmen who bankrupted your club are finished, they move on to another project but what do you do? What does a fan do? If you're a proper fan, you can't change clubs, can you?"
3) "Powell's Leicester swansong has allowed him to prepare for a future career in management - a prospect helped in huge measure by his current boss, Nigel Pearson.
He says: 'It's been invaluable, like an apprenticeship. I get involved in everything behind the scenes and it's been a fantastic experience. If someone came in and asked me to manage a team now, I know I could do it.'
The man is a goldmine of commonsense and integrity .......a true legend of football.
So if he played his last game today, what happens if he is needed in the play offs for Leicester? That would be the fairytale for Chris Powell to come on at Wembley for his last ever game and play a part in Leicester going up!
I'm glad you liked it. It was one of the more enjoyable ones to write...
I'd love to think we'll see Chris return to The Valley. Both him and Steve Brown are getting their coaching badges sorted. The club could be in far, far worse hands as far as coaching is concerned that to get them involved. Both have been criminally ignored by some of the people on the football side in recent years.
This really is a no brainer!..... A loyal Charlton legend, that we need back at the club. I hold Chris as I think 99 percent of fans on here do with the greatest respect. I hope he returns in whatever capacity as we need as many supporters to the cause as possible, like Chris. Quite why he is not at the club involved in some capacity, is frankly strange!......

Like you I hold him in the highest of respect, but I don't want him back at the valley because his legendary status will be tarnished. very few managerial reigns end in anything but tears and I doubt it will be anything less with Chris.
[cite]Posted By: Harveys Trainer[/cite]I don't think Kins has suffered too much from this?
Fair point,Look at Spurs, Ossie Ardiles and Hoddle didn't do well as managers there but are still held in the highest regard for what they did as players for the club.
However, Pardew was a decent player for us (albeit not quite as legendary as Powell and Kinsella) and it's probably fair to say he's hated by most of our fans for what he did as manager. It's one of those things you'll never know until you try or take the risk. I think Powell or Kinsella or perhaps even a combination of the two could well manager our club one day and I welcome it!

Doubt there's a Charlton fan who wouldn't agree.

Do you know the names of the 1% who dont hold him in great respect?
I would like to enlighten them
Seriously though, is it possible he could be a future Charlton manager?

The exception and still some fans slag him off.
