That's interesting Golfie, so you are declaring that Matt Godden is outscoring Alfie then. I bow to your stats, Alfie May ten starts five goals, Matt Godden four starts three goals. Alfie May was benched once and has been fit from the seasons start, Godden's first start for us was against Rotherham, Godden has also been benched and been brought on five times. The upshot of all that is that you can reel off a 'he scored more than them statement' but what you fail to mention is that the player brought in to replace Alfie May is Godden, and on a game to goals ratio, he is out-scoring Alfie May, glad we sold the shot shy little bugger now lol.golfaddick said:

His replacement Godden had a stinker and our other new striker Ahadme had probably his best game of the season for us sitting up in the stand.
I think Jones was mad forcing May out and it is a decision that will come back to haunt him big time.

This might be controversial but perhaps we could kick towards the Covered End first half in these instances. Probably only a few home games a season but why put ourselves at a disadvantage ? Obviously depends on who wins the toss but just a thought.oohaahmortimer said:
It’s been a bugbear of mine for years , that winter sun for afternoon matches is right at The Covered End goal and each and every divvy keeper appears not to bother with a cap, essential equipment for a lower league keeper .Always better to have the option if required .Southbank said:Mannion had the sun in his eyes and no cap on, leading to his indecision I guess.2 -
Yeah, much better to have Ahadme coming on instead. Or Mbick.lancashire lad said:
I did watch and saw that Leaburn might "have run them ragged" but it did not achieve anything i.e. no goals no assists , so what good did he do except excite some fansCovered End said:
Presumably you didn't watch the game where he ran them ragged at times?lancashire lad said:Leaburn didn't score any goals and didn't provide any assists, surely those are the reasons for him being in the side, so he wasn't very good then????? - mmmm??????0 -
Lets go back to playing Friday nights like we did when Hales, Powell and Flanagan were delighting the fans.golfaddick said:

And I'd even go so far as to say that we should opt to kick towards covered end first half during the couple of months this is an issueoohaahmortimer said:

It's worth noting that we've only won one league game having scored more than one goal. We don't claim too many points from a losing position, and just lacked that clinical edge despite some decent build-up play.
Of course, I'd love for us to do so! There were positives from Saturday, including our very well worked goal from a set piece.1 -
So what you are saying is that we are weaker by way of goals scored.Bailey said:

That was about the only positive thing emanating from Saturday. A corner kick routine that brought a goal. That and Taylor's dead ball delivery.mendonca said:It's worth noting that we've only won one league game having scored more than one goal. Post match stuff, mainly it's me moaning about how shit the ref was, if that's anyone's cup of tea, cheers
I will say you were very reserved in your condemnation of the ref, the guy was a dick of the first order, and deserves to be relegated to National League level.
Watched on stream, so didn't see the keeper actually go down, but it was so pre planned it was ridiculous and needs stamping out, at least the rest of the team have to remain in the centre circle while it lasts...
Fair play for your coverage again, and look forward to watching the Barnsley and Wrexham victory coverage...🍺🍺
Will of course cover the next two, never like doing a Saturday into Tuesday, feels like not enough break between videos but I'll get it done.
Cheers for tuning in again 😀3 -

As a lot of people are saying, if we play like that every game, we will win a lot more games than lose. Reality is, had we got a late goal yesterday, we'd be 6th, plenty to play for.8 -

We could say there was an over reliance on Alfie May pulling us out the shit last year Golfie and we wouldn't be wrong. May and CBT were our goal scorers for the first part of last season and when CBT left Alfie dried up, until Jones arrival, with Chuks and Leaburn injured we had to pull Kanu back from loan at Southend, your list with Godden and Ahadme and maybe Dixon in there means we shouldn't be in that situation again.golfaddick said:

I think it’s just a case of we aren't getting the ball to the strikers in a dangerous area anywhere near enough times, especially in the first half. Not sure Godden touched the ball in the first half.Braziliance said:

A real shame we don't have a clinical striker to be in the areas to put these chances away, unfortunately the striker we paid for to do this, isn't even making the bench.SouthWest_Addicks said:

If that's the case, Gas out, I'm expecting Ramsay to be out for at least 4 months based on how he went down and his reaction, maybe even the season. Apparently Lloyd Jones will be out for at least 3 weeks before he can train.

Jones has talked about it in a few press conferences/interviews. He took a blow to the chest in a game (Bristol Rovers I think) which has caused some damage and I think given where the injury is they're being very careful.Braziliance said:

In fact he talks about in this pre Stockport interview: https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/sport/on-the-rise-for-a-while-charlton-boss-jones-on-stockport-test-and-latest-injury-news/
“We have got to be careful with Gassan,” said Jones. “It was a blow to his body – it’s not a typical footballing injury. We’ve just got to make sure he is right before we put him back in. Whether that is Saturday or further down the line is another thing."1 -
Agreed, but we do have more depth than we have done for a long time. We don't have stand-ins who are quite as good as Jones or Ramsay, but we do have experienced pros available for the positions and won't have to chuck in academy prospects who aren't ready - definitely better than recent squads in that regard.Braziliance said:

We have Gillesphey and Potts as back up in the CB position before you start looking at more youthful players like Z Mitchell. They might not be great options but it's not that long ago we were playing Gunter & Pratley at CB really.JamesSeed said:

Post match stuff, mainly it's me moaning about how shit the ref was, if that's anyone's cup of tea, cheers
As a lot of people are saying, if we play like that every game, we will win a lot more games than lose. Reality is, had we got a late goal yesterday, we'd be 6th, plenty to play for.
We did have two real good chances in first half but both Anderson & Campbell decision making let them down
What's the deal with Gassan?
If that's the case, Gas out, I'm expecting Ramsay to be out for at least 4 months based on how he went down and his reaction, maybe even the season. Apparently Lloyd Jones will be out for at least 3 weeks before he can train.
Same sh*t different season. Rotten luck with injuriesLosing Jones cost us two points already. I think we’ll struggle if they’re both out for a substantial period, sadly.
I'd like to think Jones would have attacked that ball that was allowed to bounce leading to the goal7 -
'Not quite as good' is an understatement in Ramsay's case but (with all respect to both of them) two years ago we were playing Richard Chin and Charles Clayden at full back at this stage of the season - having REG and Watson as options there is definitely better.JamesSeed said:
Centre backs are very thin on the ground, and Ramsey was arguably our best performer this season.hermann said:
Agreed, but we do have more depth than we have done for a long time. We don't have stand-ins who are quite as good as Jones or Ramsay, but we do have experienced pros available for the positions and won't have to chuck in academy prospects who aren't ready - definitely better than recent squads in that regard.Braziliance said:
Where did you see this mate? I can't find an article.fenaddick said:

A real shame we don't have a clinical striker to be in the areas to put these chances away, unfortunately the striker we paid for to do this, isn't even making the bench.SouthWest_Addicks said:
I think it’s just a case of we aren't getting the ball to the strikers in a dangerous area anywhere near enough times, especially in the first half. Not sure Godden touched the ball in the first half.Braziliance said:
Nice to meet you too mate, thanks for giving me your time.hermann said:

I do think Jones is a big loss if we're sticking with the back four but we do have Potts, REG and Z Mitchell as options aside from the two who played on Saturday. Few teams at this level will have squad players as good as their first XI but we have options with experience which is progress IMO.5 -

Goals to games ratios are for nerds.Bailey said:
Has still got as many League goals (5) than our 6 strikers combined.Callumcafc said:
May has scored 1 in his last 8 for context.Fortune 82nd Minute said:
Hardly surprising after yesterday because if May had been playing I'd have put good money on us winning that game.eastterrace6168 said:Can always count on the “If only we had May” comments to come up if we don’t win a game…😴
His replacement Godden had a stinker and our other new striker Ahadme had probably his best game of the season for us sitting up in the stand.
I think Jones was mad forcing May out and it is a decision that will come back to haunt him big time.
Godden 3
Aneke 1
Ahadme 1
Kanu 0
Campbell 0
Leaburn 0
All that counts is the number of goals scored.
Just ask supersub David Fairclough.
The Ginger supersub Fairclough.
For the younger CL Members, think *Jhon Duran of Aston Villa.

Sounds like a contradiction to me.jackmasterflash said:Best performance I've seen for a while but I wasn't at the Brum match.
Took my friend to see his first ever football game in England. He thinks we look good as a team, ramani Edmonds green is shit, he also respected the hassle of Stockport. His favourite moment was when Stockport told their player to go down and the rest of their players ran to the manager. I told him they practice being cnuts in training and it worked because we dropped two points.
Speaking with a Stockport fan after the game, we both agreed if Stockport had kept on playing football they would have won.0 -

With invisable people I find it’s normally difficult to know where they are. Sometimes it’s hard to know if the voices are real.
