Can always count on the “If only we had May” comments to come up if we don’t win a game…😴
Hardly surprising after yesterday because if May had been playing I'd have put good money on us winning that game.

His replacement Godden had a stinker and our other new striker Ahadme had probably his best game of the season for us sitting up in the stand.

I think Jones was mad forcing May out and it is a decision that will come back to haunt him big time.

May has scored 1 in his last 8 for context.
Has still got as many League goals (5)  than our 6 strikers combined.

    Godden    3
    Aneke       1
    Ahadme   1
    Kanu         0
    Campbell  0
    Leaburn    0

That's interesting Golfie, so you are declaring that Matt Godden is outscoring Alfie then. I bow to your stats, Alfie May ten starts five goals, Matt Godden four starts three goals. Alfie May was benched once and has been fit from the seasons start, Godden's first start for us was against Rotherham, Godden has also been benched and been brought on five times. The upshot of all that is that you can reel off a 'he scored more than them statement' but what you fail to mention is that the player brought in to replace Alfie May is Godden, and on a game to goals ratio, he is out-scoring Alfie May, glad we sold the shot shy little bugger now lol.

Goals to games ratios are for nerds.

All that counts is the number of goals scored.

    Just ask supersub David Fairclough.

    The Ginger supersub Fairclough.

For the younger CL Members, think *Jhon Duran of Aston Villa.

    * No, I'm not Dyslexic 🤨

    nother em I
  • Had to go to a wedding Saturday so didn’t watch the stream and just saw highlights….the defending was horrendous for their goal….when I coached my kids U11 side I always told the defenders to never let the ball bounce…go win it in the air….terrible

Surprised there hasn't been much talk about the penalty. Is the consensus here that it was fair? From where I sat, it looked like Mannion was absolutely right to challenge and that he won the ball first. Expected people on here to be fuming about it.

For the most part it was a dull game against a bunch of spoilers, officiated by a buffoon of the highest order. The time wasting antics are beyond a joke now. This has to be stopped, it is ruining the game. And yes, I would say exactly the same if it was us.

Thought Leaburn coming on made a huge difference for us. Both in upping the skill level and the atmosphere. The last half hour was a joy to watch; the first hour, not so much. I love the way that Leaburn's physicality belies his skill. He's much like Chucks in that respect. I'd love to see the pair of them up front terrorising defences. Though I suppose we'll never see that for more than twenty minutes at a time.
Mannion cleared the ball and then collided with their player.
Years ago that is not a foul.
What is the law now, I don't know?

I do know that in the Liverpool v Chelsea game a similar incident occurred, albeit the ball  was on the deck.
The Chelsea goalie kicked the ball first and then clattered the player and a penalty wasn't given.
So I don't think Stockport should have had a penalty.
All I can say in defence of the referee, was it was far clearer from behind the goal than watching on TV and presumably from the ref's view.
Don’t think Mannion cleared the ball?
He didn’t . At the time I didn’t think it was a pen but seeing the replay , the ref had no choice. It’s the defenders, though , that put Mannion in that position in the first place .
As I said above you 100% can't see that he cleared the ball on the TV/highlights and I'm sure anyone watching on the highlights thinks I need to go to Specsavers.
But you could from behind the goal. All 5 of us thought so.
My son said he definitely saw it from behind the goal.
