We have some very strange fans who seem to want to be negative doomsayers at every opportunity. If it had been a drab game then the Xg stats would have been splashed all over this thread as evidence of how shit we are! But oh no, zero mention of it but instead lots of banging on about Alfie May.Yes I’d have liked him to stay but he didn’t want to. Maybe in part due to his relationship NJ but more likely his family’s wishes and a whopping pay rise (for which I don’t blame him).Come on lads. Credit where it’s due. We created loads and that’s after a freak incident which led to us going behind early doors. We deserved to win that game hands down and of course we can always say we need and should have been more clinical but sometimes it just doesn’t go in.Fully in agreement to lambast them for performances such as that at Bristol R but let’s have a bit of positivity after playing well in the last two games. Hopefully a turning point in our season 🙏🏼24

Preparation
-surely someone must have researched the opposition and warned the defence about the long range of the opposition GK?
defenders were desperately trying to get back and surprised by the length of clearance for their goal.
Awareness
- Gillesphy is not aware of the attacker on his right cutting in until its too late in the conceded goal.
- Anderson lays the ball off to the right in an attack (on EFL highlights) when Godden was in abetter position to the left. He doesn't appear to look around except to the RHS where he delivers the ball to TC.
Overall a good entertainment, we were thwarted by the opposition GK who made some decent saves.1 -

Stig said:Surprised there hasn't been much talk about the penalty. Is the consensus here that it was fair? From where I sat, it looked like Mannion was absolutely right to challenge and that he won the ball first. Expected people on here to be fuming about it.
For the most part it was a dull game against a bunch of spoilers, officiated by a buffoon of the highest order. The time wasting antics are beyond a joke now. This has to be stopped, it is ruining the game. And yes, I would say exactly the same if it was us.
Thought Leaburn coming on made a huge difference for us. Both in upping the skill level and the atmosphere. The last half hour was a joy to watch; the first hour, not so much. I love the way that Leaburn's physicality belies his skill. He's much like Chucks in that respect. I'd love to see the pair of them up front terrorising defences. Though I suppose we'll never see that for more than twenty minutes at a time.
Years ago that is not a foul.
What is the law now, I don't know?
I do know that in the Liverpool v Chelsea game, a similar incident occurred, albeit the ball was on the deck.
The Chelsea goalie kicked the ball first and then clattered the player and a penalty wasn't given.
So I don't think Stockport should have had a penalty.
All I can say in defence of the referee, was it was far clearer from behind the goal and not clear watching on TV or presumably from the ref's view.0 -

You can't see it on TV, but it was clear from behind Mannion.3 - Sponsored links:

His replacement Godden had a stinker and our other new striker Ahadme had probably his best game of the season for us sitting up in the stand.
I think Jones was mad forcing May out and it is a decision that will come back to haunt him big time.

I will say you were very reserved in your condemnation of the ref, the guy was a dick of the first order, and deserves to be relegated to National League level.
Watched on stream, so didn't see the keeper actually go down, but it was so pre planned it was ridiculous and needs stamping out, at least the rest of the team have to remain in the centre circle while it lasts...
Fair play for your coverage again, and look forward to watching the Barnsley and Wrexham victory coverage...🍺🍺1 -

Genuinely don't know.1 -
Mannion had the sun in his eyes and no cap on, leading to his indecision I guess.5

it was almost as shit as the Rovers game or Shrewsbury
the standard is execrable
defensively it is awful save for Ramsey!
attack is toothless
12th flatters that blundering unimaginative rabble of dimwits and clunkers
Taylor mostly looked adequate and Mannion had nothing to do everybody else needs lots of work1 -

The problem comes earlier, Gillesphey should have dealt with itIf we are changing to 4 at the back we need a new centre back in January. Don’t trust Gillesphey at all in a back 40

A player cannot be judged solely on his goals and assists, that would be foolish in the extreme.
I'll say no more on the subject.0 -
