For the most part it was a dull game against a bunch of spoilers, officiated by a buffoon of the highest order. The time wasting antics are beyond a joke now. This has to be stopped, it is ruining the game. And yes, I would say exactly the same if it was us.

Thought Leaburn coming on made a huge difference for us. Both in upping the skill level and the atmosphere. The last half hour was a joy to watch; the first hour, not so much. I love the way that Leaburn's physicality belies his skill. He's much like Chucks in that respect. I'd love to see the pair of them up front terrorising defences. Though I suppose we'll never see that for more than twenty minutes at a time.

I can't see what else Mannion could've done tbh. He can't just stop dead avoiding all contact, but under current interpretations, maybe that is still a penalty?

His replacement Godden had a stinker and our other new striker Ahadme had probably his best game of the season for us sitting up in the stand.

I think Jones was mad forcing May out and it is a decision that will come back to haunt him big time.

It’s properly boring that every time Charlton don’t win, his name gets brought up. Even promotion winning teams only win roughly half their games so I guess I’ll have to strap in for another 20 odd (at least) post match threads where discussion descends into Alfie May chat.

It’s like this forum’s Godwin’s law, for a lower League journeyman striker.

Don't find it boring at all. It was always going to be a big part of the story this season. 

It’s like a TV show killing off the main character and then the next series turning out to be sh*t. Of course people will talk about the killed off character, it’s natural

maybe its me but modern football is just about 70 minutes of boredom / attrition / chess and then a few changes and a match starts - same with the england game the other day - games used to go on for 90+ minutes, not 20+

Yesterday I was bored rigid for an hour watching a game of hoof ball and trying not to laugh at our midfielders hopelessly wandering around the pitch trying to find someone to tackle.

Suddenly a few creative players are introduced and you get fifteen minutes of exciting football + fifteen minutes of injuries / substitutions and general time wasting. Then a bizarre few minutes of "extra time" when players mainly sit on the pitch injured.

Over a 90 minute game Charlton would probably beat Stockport 95% of the time. I don't understand why Nathan Jones effectively kills the game off for 65 minutes and then attempts to win in the last twenty five minutes even against vastly inferior teams. 

Nowadays, to get out of this league you have to win nearly every game - not just be a bit more solid than the other teams around you.

You have to be in it to win it (or whatever the slogan is)!

Was the foul by Mannion? Or was it by Gillesphey pushing the striker into Mannion? 

If we are changing to 4 at the back we need a new centre back in January. Don’t trust Gillesphey at all in a back 4 

would like to see Potts/Z Mitchell. Not sure Terry could cope with a double Mitchell axis though

As everyone has said we was very unfortunate not to win that game. This squad has put in a couple of performances now that demonstrate we can put a run of victories together once things click. As ever with us it will be interesting to see if we can perform on a Tuesday night in Barnsley !!! I don’t doubt we will next Saturday but Tuesday is a massive indication of our potential this season

I think Potts a better option than Gillphrey but, sadly, not a better option than Jones. 

Potts is too small to play in a two, probably REG also only an option in a three.  Not sure why we signed him (Dan). Wiredu a better option.

Looking at the highlights Mannion missed his kick and his studs went into the Stockport player.

Still too small for a CB and the Rash was in a different era.

Agreed. Would love to see what the Gassman could offer coming off the bench. 
Obviously Aneke but TC and even Godden always look better when coming on.
Hopefully with Leaburn we might soon have a starting striker that offers a threat...

a point each seems fair enough to me, Stockport are a decent team and have got the art of (to coin a phrase) 'acceptable cheating' like time wasting, feigning injury and the like, down to an art under old hand Challinor .. we missed Jones the giant and we all REALLY hope that Ramsey's injury is not too serious .. ironic that his replacement score our goal .. L1 is as tough as ever and i m o we are almost holding our own, BUT still room for major improvement.

But he is only a bit part player for them, and as one of the biggest clubs in the country, they are eleventh with a negative goal difference.

I think any midfielder who doesn't create tends to seem anonymous Mutley, I can't fault their work rate but we had four players in our midfield and they all worked hard but only one, Taylor, demonstrated an ability to change the game in our favour. I think Jones needs to find a system that accommodates both Coventry and Taylor, whether that would work is anyone's guess. 

Anderson created one of our best chances of the match with his pressing and won tons of throw ins with his pressure on their defenders which then led to chances. He does loads of the unattractive dirty work. I have no idea why he gets slated on here so often, he’s a 19yr old academy graduate who never gives up, chases every ball and plays with his heart on his sleeve. It’s everything fans say they want from players but for him it’s not good enough 

Yes Anderson never gives up, chases every ball and plays with his heart on his sleeve - brilliant.
The downside is his passing is very poor and his control isn't great.

Agreed but without him the more technical players like Taylor/Coventry have to to do tonnes more running. It’s L1 and he’s 19, he’s not going to be fully rounded
