Anybody got a Norwegian Forest Cat?
    They look like big buggers.
I like animals and all non human creatures quite a lot, but cats, cats I absolutely adore the little bastards.
They’re about the same size as a Maine Coon.

This is the day we picked them out at the breeders. How could we resist these two?

I've a Norweigan forest cat, and yes I can confirm they are absolute sh1t heads! Often mistaken for a Maine coon

We got ours from Battersea, we were last chance saloon as he'd been brought back a few times, passed to Battersea as the other cats protection couldn't cope, needed a welding glove to enter the cage! They called me and I was told it's us or the vet!

But, fast forward about 4 months I managed to train him so that his first instinct wasn't to attack, and now it's rare that he does, and I know the signs so deal with it before he does. Only one downside is they are fantastic hunters, a mouse a week minimum and I wouldn't leave him alone with a baby.

    Do you have a photo?
Running a cattery, I too own a pair of those gloves 🫣😱🤣🤣🤣

Around eight years ago a lady contacted me on FB, she seen several trainers and behaviourists concerning her dog all to no avail and as a last resort visited a vet, sadly the professional opinion was the dog (Doberman) was uncontrollable and suggested there was only one option.
She exercised her dog in the early hours of the morning to avoid others and their dogs, despite Poppy wearing a bright yellow vest saying “Please avoid” never a walk passed by without incidents should she do so in the daylight.
I’d been working with another lady and a Rottie X who'd had very similar issues and seen her post about a walking companion and asks for my thoughts, I asked her to put her in touch.
I worked with both dogs for around 4 weeks with no drama and asked if I could road walk the Rottie, something that hadn’t happened for years, cautiously she agreed and off we set, no real dramas we arrived at my home and I asked my wife to send Bailey to the front gate ready to go out, they grumbled at each other through the gate to which they both received a bo//@cking before walking them up the road together, arriving at Jo’s home she burst into tears he’d never in his life since rescue been in another dog’s company.
Within six weeks both Lennox (Rottie X) and Poppy (Dobie) were running loose together in a field, never a crossed word and we even introduced both Bailey and Valli to join them, all the dogs knew Bailey was in charge and never challenged him in any way.
Years later and In between lockdowns Bowyer needed some serious lessons in manners around other dogs, while chatting is ok aggression accompanied by lunging is not so I called in Lennox and Poppy to teach him a few.
All social contact avoided we let the the dogs crack on, Bow soon learnt he’d been getting away with murder with my pack and maybe wasn’t as tough as he thought he was as Poppy and Lennox smashed him from here to breakfast time, never any teeth or aggression but 100mph play fighting.
After 8+ years after professionals had given up on them and fortunately their owners didn’t we shared many a story of their progress, until last night I was contacted by Poppys owner, it was time only a few weeks after the same message from Jo about Lennox.
Within a month we lost both Lennox and Poppy but as I said to both Jo and Sam you gave them 8 years of life, without their love, patience and dedication neither would have seen five.
Run to the bridge guys and thank you. ❤️
    Love, patience and dedication.

  • Only just seen this thread but we got Floyd nearly 8 months ago and we went under that unbeaten run with Nathan Jones. I’m hoping (and so is Floyd) that continues this season….loves a good Charlton sock too!

    What funny names for dogs
    Ha !!!

Their names are Buster and Bodie - Bodie is the one with the orange ball in his mouth

They are such lovely dogs - love cuddles, mad as March Hares on a walk, love the water

When we go to a pub (often !!) with them, and a little boy or girl wants to say hello to them, the parents (quite rightly, and understandably so) ask ‘are your dogs ok with kids’

Absolutely they are - happy to lay there and be fussed - I have complete confidence they would not hurt anybody (Buster does like to try and lick peoples faces though !!!)

Love my dogs, love dogs, prefer dogs to humans - no side to a dog - unconditional love ❤️❤️

Skip, my beautiful, loyal boy is six years old today and thriving. He didn't have a great start to life with several dislocations of his left hip, a replacement hip, rejection by his previous owners and subsequently an amputation of his rear left leg. But, in the three and a half years since we've had him he has got through all of this with great courage and determination to live life to the full and tackle anything that comes his way. He really is a great dog with a wonderful temperament and personality and is an absolute pleasure to be with. Some Liver Cake for him today to celebrate and wine for Mum and Dad later. I love him to bits.

I am proper pining for my cats now. Everytime I see a cat in the street I want to catnap it.
  • Lovely pictures of your precious boy both in words & photos .

Brought a lump to my throat ( NOT a lucky humbug...) thinking of our "Timeshare" cavachon, Jasper who's 13 now.

    Bless their cotton socks x

Finally pleased to report that the kittens have been out and about with their Mum for the last couple of weeks.

We'd spent most of the summer with our patio doors closed and windows opened a tiny fraction and we was all dying of heat exhaustion.  We spent £100 on magnetic nets so we could open our windows fully but it didn't take long for Mum Lilly to break out and kitten Milo followed after her.  They escaped twice, both in spells of torrential rain and I got sent out to capture them gone midnight FFS.  Mrs D finally gave up with keeping them in when the thermometer in the kitchen hit 30 and we've had the doors open ever since, thank god.

Oh and the litter tray has gone too so our house smells lovely again.  From what we can tell, they dont seem to be using our garden although I spotted Kit Kat having a pee on my lawn so I sprayed him with the hose lol.

Best thing all summer has been seeing them struggle to understand the concept of the garden lawn sprinkler.  They get absolutely drenched by it :)

Spookily enough, his allergies have decreased from exposure.
    It works.
Oh & I have to hoover every day but that’s a small price to pay 🤗

    I agree.

When I first moved in with Mrs D in 2014, we'd just moved into her renovated house when her 2 cats which had stayed at her Mum's came home after a month.  Within days, I was literally destroyed.  Asthma, chest infection, coughing continuously, itchy eyes, it was so bad after 6 weeks that she'd even asked her Mum if they could come back and live with her.  Then all of a sudden, my body got used to them and it stopped.  No symptoms whatsoever.

Its been the same this time round when we got the new kittens.  I really struggled for a couple of weeks, popping antihistamines like there was no tomorrow and it was cursing my wife.  But thankfully, again, my body suddenly got used to them and I'm absolutely fine now without having to take tablets.  They can cuddle up to me on the sofa, sit on my lap and literally be an inch away from my face and nothing happens (thankfully!).

I'll see if I can find the picture of me asleep with our old cat Gangsta curled up literally under my chin...
