Garry sorry your numbers are wrong - Last season in L1 Taylor started 2 games for 120 mins, he came on as a sub in 3 games for 63 mins and sat on the bench for one game.

No way Taylor goes, people seem to be basing that on him being fit at the end of the season but not featuring, something we could afford to do because we had so many midfielders at the time (remember Louie Watson, Camara and Fiorini not even getting in the squads) so we could make sure he didn't re-injure himself.

He's a set piece specialist and a box to box midfielder, very similar to Coventry and I expect them to compete for that role.
Would it have mattered if he reinjured himself given the season was about to end?
    Are you serious?

I wonder where the difference is. Transfermarkt, which is what I used, has him down as starting against Port Vale and Shrewsbury for 72 minutes and 44 minutes which is 116 mins. He had sub appearances against Bristol Rovers, Fleetwood and Stevenage (where he came on and then came off injured which I'd forgotten) amounting to 13, 5 and 28 mins, totalling 46 mins, meaning 162 mins overall in the league. Looking at the discrepancy in those sub appearances I reckon you count injury time and Transfermarkt doesn't when totalling up minutes played.

I think Lancs uses the press association stats.

Makes sense. To be honest, I think it's better if the injury time is used, Taylor came on on the 77th minute against Bristol Rovers so he's down as playing for 13 minutes but Rovers scored in the 98th minute so that's a pretty substantial additional amount of time Taylor actually played there. He came on for '5 minutes' against Fleetwood and then Hector got booked in the 99th minute and Taylor was still on so that's triple the stated time for him. I think that's worth bearing in mind for future minutes played usage on Transfermarkt as injury time has spiralled, it's a big difference.

  • Apologies for posting this on the rumours thread.

Re Taylor - I know that Lord Lucan and Elvis have been spotted more times than Taylor in the past year but i think we do have a decent player in him.  When we signed him stats were produced that showed that in L1 he was top of the table in terms of tackles made and passes completed - above Dobbo,  So keep the faith.

Yes I use the PA info and calculate a player's time from when they get on the pitch to when they leave the pitch.
Garry I suggest you use our Statbank for such info not a spurious  website

Haha I wouldn't call it spurious, I think it just doesn't track injury time. It's a good site in general

On the Taylor front, his injury was a bad one, and was always planned to get him fit for this season, if you noticed, he played couple of reserve games, then was taken out again, as it was uncomfortable and didn’t want to force injuries.. Taylor is rated by the club, and I would be extremely surprised if he is sold, I think he will end up playing a key role.. he has looked tidy pre season so far!
I was excited by the signing and still have high hopes for him, but that last bit is just not true.

He was probably the worst player in the last game, looked like a liability getting bullied off the ball and giving it away. Can’t judge too much from a game against Dartford and a game where we were probably knackered before kick off but he needs to start stepping it up in the later pre-season games
  • Don't stress guys, i'm sure Mr Jones will suss out who is going to work, and who won't this season, thats his job!

As I said before I think we need to see outgoings before anyone else comes in, simply because we've now filled all the gaps and new signings are now us looking to upgrade on what we have

Oh i don't know, i'm just about to have a nice cappuccino, with some go ahead biscuits, trying to stay 'super chilled' we've let go of all our best players, can't get any worse, can it?

That makes sense, the squad feels pretty bloated at the moment and there’s still some deadwood that we haven’t been able to move on yet. Hopefully we can make some progress there over the next week.

24 days until the season starts, properly?

How many more do you reckon we'll have brought in by then?

Definitely one more goalkeeper and I would be very surprised to not see another midfielder added. Beyond that depends on who goes and who of the academy kids are felt ready to step up (if any.)

Can see 4 or 5 out at least either permanently (AMB, Isted, Ness, maybe Fraser) or on loan (Casey, Mbick and Fraser if no-one meets his wage)

I hope we get another keeper but I wouldn't be massively surprised if we didn't. There comes a point where you go down your list of available keepers and if we've missed out on all the ones that are considered better than Mannion then we might just stop until that list is shaken up in January. We definitely need another centre back I think, I can't imagine us playing Gillesphey as first choice all season and we've lost Thomas in terms of the versatility of being able to play on the left side of defence. We might use Edwards there but more likely we'll rotate him with Small and we still look a bit vulnerable at the back; after last season's performances only bringing in one new centre back would be madness.

Think we need a GK, a CB and a CM. All depends on our formation.

  • I would loan out Ness, asiimwe and z Mitchell. Too many defenders on the books, Watson and edun will be difficult to move on so probably keep as back up.
Get rid of Scott Fraser  and aneke but again difficult. Other than that I am happy with the squad, we need one more player like tyreece Campbell but that's it.

So we play 3 at the back but you'd only keep 4 of them in A.Mitchell, Gillesphey, Edmonds-Green and Jones? So one gets injured, another gets sent off, who you playing at the back in the next game?
