5 points from the top 3 is great.
Five points from the past three games is a great return.
We now need to negotiate a very difficult March.
managed to find themselves below us despite this being our first win since 1962. The very difficult run is over, now we need to go and do the business against the strugglers.
Plus there's the chance of them seeing us as targets as we are still within reach and putting in an extra level of effort against us.
I fully trust Jones to keep the good momentum going but thinking it will be easy or a given thing is highly premature - as he will no doubt be saying to the players. We’ve set the standard - undefeated in this little run against the three best sides in the division. Now we need to put these yokels to the sword.4 -

I still think we will survive but it will not be easy!1 -
Fleetwood haven't won in 5, Port Vale haven't won in 10. In that time Vale have lost to Cheltenham, Carlisle and Fleetwood before drawing from a winning position last game. They seem like they're in a lot of trouble so it's a shame we Appletoned them already.Cheltenham are in a decent bit of form. They lost their last game but before that they drew with Wigan and won 3 in a row before that. Two of those were Port Vale and Cambridge so they're obviously capable of beating the teams around them. They'll look to our match as very winnable before they go on a run of games against Oxford, Barnsley and Peterborough, so I think they'll put a hell of a lot into trying to get 3 points off us. It'll be a tough one and I'd be ok with a draw there. After that they still have to play Fleetwood, Exeter Carlisle and Burton so some very winnable games in there. Plus they're two games in hand. I can really see Cheltenham getting out of it so it's essential we move up the table with them and claw someone else back into the swamp. Fleetwood's run sees them against 4 promotion hopefuls (5 if we're counting Orient. Are we counting Orient?) so that's not fun for them.I never write any team off but Carlisle are 14 points behind us, have won 2 of their last 20 and still have to play 6 promotion contenders/form teams. Looking at their schedule they would have circled us as their most winnable game and we seem to have taken off the clown makeup so they're not my biggest concern. I do think we'll beat them and we really must if we're going to drop this tag of being a soft touch. We just need to plan with the inevitable Lavelle goal in mind and do a professional job on them.In terms of the teams we need to drag in, Shrewsbury have won 3 of their last 10. They seem to flit in and out of form and have a pretty mixed record against the teams around them. They've got 3 teams around the drop to play and some tough ones in there. I'm hopeful by the time we play them in April we're nowhere near it but they're a club where I never have any idea what result we're going to get so who knows. Burton's run-in has Fleetwood, Port Vale and Cheltenham twice somehow but also 4 of the top 7. If they go on a brilliant run of form they'll hurt the teams below us and if they go on a poor run they'll become one of the ones below us so they're in for an interesting time. If they lose to the teams below us but win their difficult games then that will be a real pain in the arse. Don't do it Deji.Cambridge have a miserable run-in with 3 of the top 4 and their only game against the disasterpieces in Port Vale on the last day. They are absolutely guaranteed 3 points against us with Taylor and Bonne up front though so that needs to be added into their tally. Exeter are weird. They haven't won their last three including a draw with Fleetwood but they also just beat Peterborough, Wigan and Barnsley across 4 games so figure that out. They've got Vale, Cheltenham, Burton and Shrewsbury as well as us so a lot of potential shift there. It feels like at the moment Carlisle, Fleetwood and Port Vale have an uphill struggle. It's never over and it just takes a couple of good results but they're not in a great place. Cheltenham could do well but there's 4 teams above us who are within 3 points of us and we play 3 of them so more than enough opportunity to climb upwards. There's a lot on Saturday I think. Win, drive forward into the 6 pointers with a bit of momentum and we could be going into April feeling pretty relaxed. Draw too many and we're still going to be sweating, lose and we'll need some miracles. It feels like everyone is playing everyone down in Hell so there's a lot that can change. Ultimately we're in control of our own destiny which rarely goes well for us so strap in.5

Fortunately I have been proved very wrong so far about Moore at Port Vale
As a result I see it that we now have one team from six for the fourth relegation spot.
We're on an upward curve and things are looking promising that Methven, Rodwell and Scott will not be responsible for a relegation.
Get these idiots out of the club in the summer and crack on for a promotion next season.1 -
I think it's possible that it could be one team from 7 that could be in smelly stuff. I would say though it's more in our hands now to pull away after the last 5 games compared to previously. If we go down we deserve to but... With Nathan we have a chance and I'll take that all day.

only 2 top half teams to play in the last 10 games.3

Think 50 is probably the magic number. 12 points in 10 matches needed for that total. Currently have 7 points in last 5 so on course to reach it.
Port vale have gained three points since NYD. 1 point came against Charlton. Not worried about them at all.Tuesday isn’t make or break, but will give us an idea for how season will finish. Win and it will probably be straight forward/ draw or lose and it will probably be a fight until the final matches.0 -
Port Vale have to play 9 games in in 4 weeks.3

1 win with other results going our way and we could end up in 15th.
On the other hand, failing to win on Tuesday and the games in hand become a lot more worrisome.1 - Sponsored links:

I'm not worried at all. 5 games unbeaten against top half sides and now we face 5 from the bottom half, including 3 in the relegation zone.
Win 3 of the next 5 and we'll almost be safe.7 -

The next 3 will.
No Aneke no party.1 -
I'm fairly calm about it, there's a few wins and a couple of draws in our remaining games.0

You'd hope we will beat Carlisle at home next week so then it's 9 points needed from the other 9 games.4 -
We'll win Tuesday and Saturday and be joking about why anyone was worried.

I don’t think that 50 points will
be need to stay up this season. 45 will be enough.0 -
Cambridge in free fall since Harris left ( only team he would have left for that ol chestnut) let’s hammer 🔨 the final nail in the snakes 🐍 and silly bollocks Bonne coffin ⚰️ in a few weeks time8

Looking at the remaining fixtures for everyone in the bottom 11 and bearing in mind most will play each other then 50 points seems particularly high...
I think 47 plus our Gd will be close to safety.
Personally I hope like most of us that we don't need to scrap every game... Wouldn't it be nice just to win the next four on the trot and then head for the beach.... Dream on probably but a nice thought.5 - Sponsored links:

Nothing is as certain as death & taxes than CAFC gifting wins to teams at the bottom of the table. Anyone remember the 6-1 drubbing at home to relegation threatened Leeds in the Prem.
You've got to ask yourself....was last Tuesday evening against Derby the upturn or the unusual ? We've just managed to turn 3 points into 1. The next 2 games are going to be critical - a must not lose match and then a home game against the bottom club who are almost down already. Anything less than 4 points could mean we are back on the brown stuff. Then the following week we are away again to a side who look like the might just be turning it around.
We are in for a bumpy ride. I pity poor @oohaahmortimer with Easter coming up.....all that chocolate !

The batteries are running low
Effort can get you so far but lack of ability beginning to cost us

Whatever we think of the UK management team they will no more about the nitty gritty of League one football than the Americans. However after Holden and Appleton I would imagine the decision to bring in NJ was under more scrutiny by them.
If the Americans had no confidence in Scott and co surely at least one of them would have been let go by now.2 -

In the past 10 seasons (excluding Covid) this is the final points total of the 4th bottom club i.e. last relegation place:
43, 48, 47, 50, 46, 49, 50, 50, 47, 40, 45
No way will we go down if we win 4 games, but since we have so far won 8/36 then expecting another 4 wins is optimistic.
3 wins and a couple of draws probably enough with our goal difference.5 -
I fear wins will still prove hard to come by, and I'm passed expecting consecutive wins which we haven't managed all season, especially after missing the open goal of a win yesterday, but provided we get a couple and don't lose more than two we should be able to reassess in the summer for another season in L1, when I expect us to be on it from the word go under Jones.2

The key now is to survive in this dreadful league but there must be changes on the SMT front...
They can't be allowed to get a free pass just because Nathan might work his magic. This potential scenario worries me more and that no lessons will be learned whatever league we end up in.
Our recruitment or lack of it has been our downfall and only at the 25th hour do the Owners I presume decide to spend some money on a decent Manager. We'll know soon enough if it was too late but Nathan has done well to get a tune out of some players who let's be honest have been passengers bar a few players.4
