True but football fans are generally fickle and if he came in and played well, as i'm sure he would at this level, then he'd be an asset. I know others won't all agree, and it's no reflection on my opinion about wearing one, but i honestly couldn't care less what a footballer i don't know thinks about wearing a poppy.RedChaser said:
That’s an understatement, if you’d been at the Stoke match eighteen months ago to hear our fans adverse reaction towards him at half time.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Yeah he'd certainly be a player that would divide opinion.5 -
I am kind of in the middle on this one, I understand his reasons for not wanting to but I have long thought of The Poppy as remembering who you want to remember and it is for normal people not those that choose to send people to war. There is also the idea that he dislikes what occurred where he is from so much but is willing to have lived his adult life in the land of the perpetrators earning a large wage.Chris_from_Sidcup said:

I am very pro The Poppy and all it stands for but those that died did so so we can make our choices. I won't abuse him, but whilst understanding his reasons I think he is wrong.1 -

You ended your post with “i” as if you you hadn’t finished what you were going to say, so I enquired “you what”. Try using the edit facility as I’ve suggested to you previously, it’s my friend case in point and can be yours 😉.addick1956 said:

It has been said regularly that next week is a Big Week for CAFC. Hence my remark. DKU

I live near Exeter and they have an excellent academy (I say this even though they wouldn't let my son into it!)
They regularly produce top quality players and are probably the top youth set up in the south west. (Matt Grimes, Ollie Watkins, Ethan Ampadu)
Jack Sparkes is 20 and from the same year group as Ampadu, and all the way through youth football was a left sided forward, strong and pacey. Hes still very young (Ampadu is a freak of footballing nature) similar in age to the bench we've had the last two games.
He's undoubtedly a talented but he's not the answer at left back. Hes not even a left back!
Exeter, if you didnt know, are a community club owned by the fans and have bought two stands with the profits they have made on player sales in the last four years. Rebuilding the club and being sustainable has been their priority, and at the same time they have been there or thereabouts at the top of the league.

We need a minimum of 5 more players, we needed 7 and have since signed Clare and Kirk. 2 of them have to be absolute starters in CM and LB. We then need another winger, striker and CB.Scoham said:We'll see, I'll be surprised if all the signings we bring in come in purely as cover.

I think when adding the sell on fee and other add ons to the transfer fee they ended up getting around 5.5-6m for Watkins. An incredible sum for a league two club.Imnot Athletic said:I live near Exeter and they have an excellent academy (I say this even though they wouldn't let my son into it!)

One thing Exeter don't do is sell players on the cheap. (Unless they are stolen by Chelsea) T

Agreed. I’d rather play with 10 men.DiscoCAFC said:
Wouldn’t want him, can’t stand him.Chris_from_Sidcup said:James McClean is a target for Wigan and Bolton after being told he can leave Stoke and made to train with their U23s.
32, never played below the championship, seasoned international. Could he do a job for a year?0 -

I'd say that the next 9 months are crucial, for Thomas dreams and ambitions to be on track or derailed!
This league is so competitive, but the depth of squads is so thin in quality for so many clubs, as soon as a few form players gets injured or dip, they drop like a stone.
More likely to win the lottery than to predict the final top six at this stage.1 -
It sounds from the interview with Adkins that he is very confident with a few new players plus the loans. Season will start improving after that no doubt6

Season will start improving after that no doubtTo me it sounded like it was loans specifically he was talking about rather than players plus the loans. Hope it's a 2+2=5 from me but the transfer quotes starts with:"Charlton are expected to further utilise the loan market before the window shuts, their only temporary deal so far being the return of Akin Famewo from Norwich."That said, Nigel isn't overly open with the press, he didn't even give a jist that Charlie Kirk might be incoming Monday when asked the Friday before, then again given the Kirk personal situation he may genuinely have not known.

Rated Hendo quite highly before and he knows the club, plus is an older head in a position where age is less important.
If he is fit and passes a fitness test and if his wage expectations are relatively low I would be keen on that. A player that would likely be ok on the bench but equally has the quality to put real pressure on Mac (which from what I have seen so far is a definite need)1 -
Not getting mixed up with Henderson and we are playing rush goalie are you @Covered_End_LadCovered_End_Lad said:Defender on loan from Prem sounds fairly close.

I was hoping for some slightly more encouraging words to be honest. I'm all for not rushing and bringing in the right players at the right price but a handful doesn't sound enough. We're still 5-6 short and at least 3 of those need to be top signings who get into the first 11.charlton_hero said:
If we're holding out for Cullen/Bielik level players then great but if we don't get them we're in trouble.

If he saw the game on Saturday he might have to reassess his transfer plans .charlton_hero said:1 -
I'm really disappointed by what he's said in that interview. We're severely lacking quality and bringing in players just for depth is not going to crack it. Very disappointing.21
