Shame we just couldn't get it together today. We were scrappy and out of sorts for most of the match. Preston weren't much better themselves, but were fortunate that we gifted them a penalty that they converted convincingly. Uncharacteristically, we couldn't muster much of a comeback from that point.
A chance to equalise from a Cullen corner at the end, but it went the wrong side of the netting. On a different day, and without all the injuries, we'd have had a field day.

Preston deserved it. Not the best football but set up in a system that beat us convincingly.

Their striker was a dirty shit, leading with his elbow/arm every single time. Wtf Pearce was doing there is beyond me. Should have got a dull 0-0 out of that. Really need some of our injured players back as you can quickly slide down this league.8

Worst game of "football" I've seen in a long time. Reckon the ball was only in play for about a third of that second half.12

Well, that Preston team aren't gonna win any fair play awards but they're top of the league so they won't give a shit.Bit of a shocker from us but not sure if that's because we were very bad, Preston very good effective or both.Now let's focus on the Den. No suspensions to speak of which is good news.8

We just didn't click all game - very disjointed. A lot of effort from Pratley and Gallagher and a few classy flashes from Kayal. Dillon faultless. Apart from that, v disappointing.

Despite the poor performance today , I'll still say being in 10th position in the table and only 6 points off top spot , after 15 games , is still a great start and a lot better than most expected , before the season started.21

You cannot perform to your best every game and today we were poor.
That said we are still in a better position than I thought would be before the season started..
I'm going to millwall next week and hope Bowyer gets them up for it.

Very poor today. Credit to Preston for getting it right and totally nullifying us and creating the better openings. That said we still had a couple of opportunities and on another day might have got something.
Thought Preston were well organised and disciplined but didn't have enough going forward to make me think they will be serious automatic promotion contenders.

Preston very good. Think we're too defensive with Gallagher as the 10 puts a lot of pressure on Bonne. We always do best with one of Williams or Oztumer surprised he didnt play

Our midfield wasn't strong enough and we lacked much threat up front. Preston were the better side and deserved the win.5

Midfield didn’t show for the ball enough for me meaning defenders either had to turn back or go long. Throw ins also take an age with not enough movement. Preston always seemed first to the second ball. Kayal with a few good moments but had long spells of not being involved. Phillips and Pratley easily our best players, Gallagher worked hard but couldn’t influence the game as much as usual.
Very disappointing though at least Lockyer, Gallagher and Pratley didn’t get booked.3 -
I think I agree with everything written so far on this thread but will add that they liked to go down and played a weak ref well.

Low key game.
I understand Sarr bring taken off,
But we lost even more shape.
The loss of Taylor and Williams is massive.
No slating of the players from me. I will leave that to the usual suspects.
Preston were no Derby and did a job on us.

Awful. Really awful. Honestly one of the worst matches I think I've seen in years. I was bored more than I was frustrated. Annoying to lose to a (correct) pen as that match should have ended 0-0 and had both teams thrown out of the league for illegal torture techniques. One decent save from Dillion, one decent save from Rudd, whole lot of nothing else.We were unrecognisable today. Lockyer and Sarr shaky, Solly totally anonymous, Gallagher ran well but was wasteful, Kayal had flashes at the start but then went missing, Bonne barely saw the ball all game and Cullen turned in the worst performance I've ever seen from him. If you told me Cullen wasn't on the pitch today I'd believe you, even though I saw him there with my own eyes. Preston for their part were also awful, but looked more convincing in being bad. They didn't create much but they stopped us doing anything, and that was enough today. The more I think about the pen the more annoying it is as Preston really shouldn't be coming away with three points here. The subs didn't make any difference today either. Leko couldn't influence the game as we decided to not bother passing after about 50 minutes today, and Chuks was his usual pointless self when he came on. We needed a sparl today, the kind we usually would get from Williams. That was on Kayal to provide but he didn't impose himself and so we looked disjointed and tired. At least Pratley was good.In a side note, time wasting has really got out of hand in this league. Every Championship game I watch with one goal in it at the moment descends into a total farce of pretend injuries, obvious delaying and slow restarts. I really wish the refs would get hold of it because it's just getting tiring now. I understand not wanting to let the opposition to get back into the game but I would like to watch a bit of football after the first goal11

Well we got what we deserved today.
Preston looked stronger than us, we didn't have the desire we have shown previously and they were dirty/professional enough to take us out to prevent break away goals.
They did their homework on us and our heads dropped long before the end with body language telling us we were a beaten team.
I thought the pen was a con but we got a soft one last time out, so not moaning about it.
The injuries have had a huge impact on our results and hopefully, we can get some back and start picking up points again.
Ed. Special mention for Connor, he was a class act, easily our MOM for me.3 -
Looked like most of the team were out on the piss last night.
Preston weren’t very good they were a ugly northern side - who will not be going up despite sky thinking they are already up.

Going back to the days before we became Sky Sports favourite club to televise (following the play off semi-final / final) that is exactly the sort of dull, clueless performance we always used to put on when our games were moved for TV.
As excellent as we were against Fulham, we were utterly dire today against a hardworking but ordinary Preston team.
We had no clue how to change the pattern of the game and the last 20 minutes were a complete non event, apart from the shanked shot from our left back at the end.

For as bad as the ref was and how they played up to it, we deserved nothing. Worst home performance in 18 months. Terrible3

We were lucky a Preston player didn't break a leg. The ref would have allowed treatment on the pitch till it was healed.14

A lot of massive overreactions here... We weren't that bad.
They weren't that good. 0-0 or 0-1 is probably fair.3 -
They stopped us playing but was hardly playing themselves- got the pen and shut the door. Dirty and effective but knew how to play.
Most annoying thing was the ref refusing to send their players to the touchline for treatment but made our player to us.4
