All everyone is doing is guessing, even those who think they are somehow ITK.

Even the board know it all

    That is only one person.
  • I'm not sure I quite get this "he might wait it out to see if we finish this season with promotion" which has been bandied about for a while. Surely, I mean surely after all this fucking about, Roland has made it clear that there will be an adequate clause that gives him x amount should we be promoted, in whatever amount of years to the Championship, with a further clause for promotion to the Premier League in quick succession. I mean, if he is that desperate to sell this would be a solid way to ensure he would receive adequate funds should we be promoted, without relying on the lottery that is the playoffs.

It has also been said that we are a minor percentage of his total business interests, so why would he be studying the league table wondering about our play off chances? The guy has only attended a few games in the time he's owned us, and claims to watch us on a stream, even though he was out eating at a restaurant for one particular game. (OK that was his birthday I seem to remember, so maybe he watches every other game...)

In short, if I was in his shoes I don't think I'd be prepared to sit back and wait to see if we were promoted before selling. I mean, I honestly have no idea, but how much more would we be worth if we were a Championship team? Could that feasibly be more than he would lose in the interim? And what if the buyers lose interest in the meantime?

One thing is for sure, if he waits and takes a gamble and loses, the price of the club is not going to increase and his debts will increase. It doesn't seem like the sort of gamble a successful businessman would make, from my blinkered perspective.

I'm sure things are a shitload more complex than my naive view and I am happy to be corrected by any of those who know more.

    Just a thought.

Well, now that we are back in top 6, I worry that if RD is not 100% committed by contract to sell at this point, he might wait it out, see if we make it back to the Championship, and try to get an even higher price. "London club! Profitable! Promoted! What can I get now?"

The sad fact is that the worse we played, the more we heard he wanted out. And since we have won 3 in a row, things have gone quiet. Maybe this should not worry me..... but it does. This is Roland we are talking about. As long as he is here, I worry about everything.

As the saying goes...2 out of 3 ain’t bad!

Even in the Championship I don’t believe we, or many other clubs, have ever been profitable.
  • @Redhenry - appreciate you probably cannot say for risk of giving the ‘game away’ but if you can, I would be interested to know if your source is linked directly to the interested party or to the club/a third party.

Only reason I ask is that if RD is trying to drive a higher price from Aussies/others then rumours of loaded Middle Eastern investors sitting in the wings and about to re-visit their offer would be one rumour he may choose to spread.

Please be assured I am not questioning you, you have supplied a number of Items of ITK info on other matters that have proven accurate and clearly show you have an exceptional source of info. I just wonder as to the propensity of this being an internal club source who could be unwittingly caught in a bit of ‘RD meddling’ rather than direct from the interested parties mouths so to speak.

I never thought I’d say it but if the new owners want to replace Bowyer and Jacko before the end of the season then I hope the ownership delay lasts a little longer.
Only to the point where installing a new manager wouldn’t be considered.
Happy for asap if they leave Bowyer and jacko until the end of the campaign.
Nobody new will get more from these players than these two this season

So much to buzz about regarding the on field action that we’re getting distracted from the Great Thread.

The only way to force him out is to do what we’ve always been doing - stop going, stop giving him money and ensure he takes heavy financial losses. Stick to your guns. Listen to CARD and follow their lead when they make announcements. Forget half price shirts, going to a game under bowyer. The long term future of our club is more important.

My sentiments as well, despite the fact that I went away to Northpton and saw huge progress on the field.

Well it hasn't worked so far. I have followed this advice and all I am hurting is myself. Duchatelet will sell when he wants to, irrespective of whether we protest or not.

    Quite.

I go to football to spend a bit of time with my old man and my son. To catch up with a few acquaintances I have made over the years and to watch football. I go more in hope than expectation and the roller coaster of emotions that come with supporting Charlton is just part and parcel of it all.
Duchatelet will sell when it suits him - not when a couple of people stop buying T-Shirts. The man is worth over a billion Euro so 100 people spending £20 on a kit really is fly dirt to him.

I don't believe anyone on here is in the know. It's been predicted by a hand full of people in the past. They all look a bit silly now.

Go and have a stiff one !
  • Am I the only person not too bothered about when Roland sells at the moment?

Haven't enjoyed going tO to the valley so much in years. Against Rotherham I got that buzz back, and everyone after the game was in really good spirits, atmosfear was the best it's been at the valley in years imo,

Roland will go, weather that's next week, may or end of the season.

For now get behind the boys, start enjoy going to football again and let's get in those play offs.

I think I'm more in this camp now. I went to the Rotherham game 'by accident' because I bought tickets assuming that he would be gone by then. It felt completely different to the last few years. Knowing that Meire wasn't sitting behind me and that RD is definitely selling, plus having former players running the team all add up to a big difference.
I've no idea what the atmosphere has been like lately but it I felt that there was a lot of positivity in the ground.

My fears of Charlton related anxiety:

1.Roland is secretly just stringing us along and has no true intention of selling...and or is going to wait until the seasons over...which also causes internal disruption and creates a confusing "should we protest again...do we need to" angle and dilemma for us fans.

    2. New owners come in and immediately replace bowyer with kewell and the promotion chase takes an unnecessary distraction....and we are sure to still be in league one next season.

    3. We pick up injuries to key players or our form dips and we either miss out on the playoffs and heartbreakingly get another season in league one....and at the same time, Roland has not even yet sold the club!!!

    4. Millwall go up and or palace stay up.

    5. Well it's all just a mixed bag of Roland still being the owner, us not getting promoted (but trying really hard so it's even more painful but at least honest)

New potential Aussie owners doing impulsive irrational things...and Millwall and palace having good ends to the season.

Please make all these fears go away.

    Ouch.

    https://www.cafc.co.uk/news/view/5ac4acbe2b09f/caretaker-boss-lee-bowyer-to-manage-charlton-for-the-rest-of-the-season

“The takeover hasn’t moved as quickly as we had envisaged and it was important for those players and fans to know that whatever happens there will be stability.

“At this stage, there are still two parties looking to purchase the club and everything is close but a date for a takeover is not something I am able to put a timeline on because, as we have seen, these things can take longer than expected.”
  • Do we know who appointed Bowyer and Jackson? Bearing in mind we have no CEO, no finance director, and no manager. Not disputing it has been a great success, but someone must be running the club day to day. Just interested. Surely it wasn't the Douche. Could he sack them if he wanted to?

    From Newshopper...

Charlton caretaker boss Lee Bowyer is set to remain in charge until the end of the season.

News Shopper understands that Bowyer has the trust from wantaway owner Roland Duchatelet - and the club is expected to release a statement confirming the news later today.

The club remains in takeover discussions with two parties, with both agreeing to Bowyer remaining in charge as a condition of the sale

    That is intriging
