The battle of the Athletics, to find out which club is truly worthy of the grandiose, highly coveted title.
Round one goes to the Addicks. The true athletics of the Football League, for now.
Another solid win in a ding-dong-doodoo battle for the ages.
Over to you.

Sounds like an epic
Peterborough drop their first points as they only draw at Doncaster, amazingly Shrewsbury are now second!3 -
get in, deffo a game we would have drawn/lost last year, well done KR and the team!12
-
Said at half-time that this second half would be a good test of this team's promotion credentials. Are they up for a good, physical fight (as Chris Powell's team were here in the 2012 promotion season) or will they fold?
I think the result answers that question.2 -
Did we make hard work of that, or did we make hard work of that?
Just imagine how easy it would have been if Roland had provided us with a strike force? What's that, our new striker scored on his debut?1 -

Was sure we'd slip up with two of our most important gone.
Not great defensively but I'm happy with any win in the circumstances.
I have a feeling this year is ours , we are just so good going forward.2 -
Definitely worth taping the highlights tonight then :-)0

3 points at the end of the day. The promotion push is well and truly on!0

Crazy game of football well played all Addicks who went.
Sounds as if the ref had a mare upsetting both sets of fans.
Up to 3rd now and looking good.

I think the result answers that question.
That was a very odd game of football. From the openness to the bookings to the penalty no one saw which really changed the game.
But in the end we had enough quality and saw the game out with some good set piece defending in the last ten minutes.
Said it about Rotherham away, and will say it again, these are the kinds of games promotion sides win, and I think we'd have drawn with Rotherham and lost this game last season.1 -
I imagine the manager comments after the game will be interesting!2

Curious as I'm away and not been to a game this season, is there a song for KR yet?
Robbos red and white army etc?1 -
Never should've been that difficult after cruising at 2-0 but this is Charlton all over. A win is a win so well done to all.
Goals coming from all over the team again which is promising, and our front 4 seems to be very strong, even better when we have Magennis, Reeves and Marshall to come. When was the last time we scored 4 goals twice in such a short space of time? Early days but we look strong in attack.
Looking forward to seeing Holmes' stunner. Winning momentum continues and that's very important.
Referee seems to have his own idea on the laws of football as that's a total of 22 yellow cards in the last two games he has officiated. Every 2.4 fouls today, there was a card, seems like he needs some more education on the laws and how to manage and officiate the game effectively, and this is coming from a qualified referee.
Most importantly, we won and a massive well done to the traveling fans and the people who contributed to the updates on the match thread today.
Happy days, great stuff!7 -
Next week Southend phil brown likes to attack which will suit us just fine. Happy times to be an addict. In KR i trust none of had heard of Doodo yet he pops up and does the business1

3 points again and I want to be positive but we made hard work of it at 4:2 against ten men.
But 4 goals away from home ain't too shabby and after 5 real games together in a team which has a lot of new faces I feel a little optimistic tonight.
Shame we couldn't find a fifth. Maybe next time.0 -
That was a tough one. What a game. I paid to see the live stream and well worth it.
First 30 we looked like world beaters and deservedly up 2-0.
A dubious penalty (from what I could see anyway) totally changed the game and the rest of the half they were all over us. We just fell apart and lucky to go in still 2-1 up.
The start of the second half was much as the first half ended and it was no surprise that they equalized with a route 1 goal that we seemed to stand back and let happen.
Then the 2nd yellow and red to them which changed the game again as they were looking stronger.
We kind of took control and scored 2 more. Should have been 5 but Dodoo fluffed his lines and they went straight up the other end and made it 4-3.
So, squeaky bum time which we, just, managed to survive. Phew. What a game.
Apart from his goal, which he took well, I didn't rate Dodoo. He was a liability towards the end by giving away a free kick in a dodgy position and received a clumsy yellow in the process. Let's just put it down to him not being match fit but he looked a bit of a donkey to be honest.
I thought Jackson was off the pace and also looked a liability. Kashi was immense as usual. Fosu had a good game. Ricky was just Ricky and what a goal. Defence looked a bit dodgy to me. Amos did ok and couldn't do much with any of their goals as far as I could see. Clarke looked strong in the first 30 and then just lost direction as they all seemed to at the point. Couldn't put my finger on why. Did they change their midfield?
Like I said, the live stream was well worth it to me and long may it continue.
3 points away up at Oldham is not too shabby.
We missed Da Silva and Mag.

Great result. We are getting promoted this year.2

Who said the Dodoo was extinct?5

Whatever you may think of Karl Robinson, his romantic style of attacking football is resulting in goals galore.
And today we didn't even have a proper centre forward!

First 15 minutes we was all over them and they could not cope thought we would be seeing a 5 nil smashing.
They got a pen which I think was correct and for some reason we just stopped doing everything that was working. Sat back far to much in centre of midfield and the equaliser seem just a matter of time.
Then again seemed to up it and should of scored 3 more but did not take the last chance and then sat off again and let them make it more nervous than it should of been.
Good attacking signs but a bit worrying how they did seem to get through our centre today.
All in all a good away day and I will take that10 -

Well. 4 goals away from home with our main striker missing isn't too bad. Bit Charltony to let them get to 2-2, and to let them back in at 4-2 and 10 men, but in previous seasons we never would have come away with three points there. It almost felt a little bit - whisper it - like a Powell game. Of course, for it to be a truly Powell game we would have had to have the red, but the spirit in the team is obvious. Nice for Dodoo to get a goal as well.
I really thought Billy Clarke would be a bit of a Paul Hayes/Simon Church type of attacker who worked hard but caught a lot of flak from the stands but he's been great so far. Really happy with him15 -
Have been away on holiday for the last load of results and am well happy with the way things are going. 3 away wins in a week(including Crawley)and the excellent display against Northampton, Fuck the Norwich game it means nothing. With players to come back and chances and goals coming freely we really are on the way up. Couldn't be happier!3
