I fell asleep at 2 nil up, when I woke up it was 4-3 , what on earth was going on here?
That's exactly what the team did. Fell asleep at 2 nil up and woke up at 4-3.
Conceding 3 goals is not good....,.,.unless you score 4 or more, which we did. Goals conceded may be analysed and the errors corrected BUT we got 3 points, players happy, Coach happy and fans happy - over analysing may detract from the terrific win. As for analysing the refs decisions, really, who cares? Look forward, not back.
Not sure I agree with that. We are already seeing exciting attacking football with players like Holmes and Fosu-Henry who can get you off your seat. Marshall can do that as well and I think Dodoo off the bench will terrify league one centre backs. We have good team spirit and look fitter than in recent years.
I'm not thinking promotion yet but I am excited by what Robinson is trying to acheive. If it doesn't get you excited I can't see the point. ( winky thing noted)

Which is far more exciting than midfield a year ago featuring Foley, Crofts and Jackson.
We will find out soon enough the ref was reported and those in charge requested to review the whole 90 mins video
The sending off changed the game in our favour fortunately and we have been on the end of enough shit decisions so it does level out , it don't make it right and I hope we don't rely on this fella again as he will without doubt favour the opposition next time if he gets pulled in
From my seating position Oldham in the first twenty mins when chasing shadows gave away needless and stupid fouls some that warranted yellows some that didn't
In the first half we gave away fewer free kicks but some that were worse or the same as what Oldham got booked for
For a team to get to 6 or 7 bookings before we got one was odd but for us to then get 4 bookings in the last ten when the Offences hadn't changed from fouls that hadn't resulted in bookings or by players who hadn't had prior warning was just as odd especially as the ref had started to ignore Oldham's fouls that had earlier warranted yellows
(He had lost it and knew it by then )
The point about the incident with Bauer and Amos isn't really valid in any other way than to prove how shit the ref was and prove robinsons point he Says different things to justify his decision or is a liar as suggested by Robinson.
the ref stated he gave the foul in favour of Amos not for a push but for the keeper having the ball under control when the player won it from him yet he blew his whistle for a foul before that happened , why not just say I saw a push on the charlton player especially if he had and had got it spot on as it's a great spot
I know this as I was talking with the player post game and he told me what the ref said as the reason for stopping the game at that point
And Robinson said that the pen was awarded for a push and later changed to hand ball
All imo back up the fact the ref was reacting to opinions not what had happened in front of him
And it certainly was what got the Oldham player sent off and was why solly got dogs abuse after , he was holding his face not his foot he never once complained about his foot the ref didn't see a high boot no one did at full speed not even the players that complained they saw solly holding his face and writhing around , I am certain the ball struck him in the face I was virtually level with it
The ref was in no position to see anything if you watch the replay he is not even in camera view there's 4 players next to each other and it's at speed the lino gave nothing , it's all about our reaction and that of solly , this week it went for us but it was a shit display from him and I hope he gets punished for it
The video is not a great angle but it's hard to disagree with this assessment.
. We were yards from the penalty, and agreed that Holmes went in with his arms in that raised position that the ref demonstrated, and the ball seemed to deflect onto his hand or arm.
What do you reckon, Jimmy ...... hand to ball or ball to hand?
Oggy, I think when you've got your hands up it doesn't matter, technically.
Hi Jimmy .... it can be hard for a referee to be sure in the heat of the game, especially from distance. But the laws of the game do say that ball to hand is not an offence.
In the opinion of the referee, of course.
Pretty sure they can give it if the player raises his hands in a way that might block the ball. If it's then ball to hand they give it. If your hands are in a normal position (ie down) they don't give it. Not seen any of these rules written down though..... they must be online somewhere?

Yup, and playing these sort of midfielders will not just be fun to watch, they'll give you plenty of goal scoring opportunities.
Maybe it's just me that feels this way, but except for Plymouth where we should've been in the lead anyway. I've seen quite a few times people saying we will struggle against sides with big strikers who just lump the ball in the air due to being small. But we've played Bristol Rovers who did that we won 1-0 and played 90 odd minutes with 10 men. Northampton I'm pretty sure all of them were 6 foot plus, enormous they were but conceded 1 and looked comfortable dealing with them for 90 mins. Rotherham who had that Kiefer Moore who is 6 foot 5 and Proctor who's about 6 foot 1/2. They were bullied by Bauer and Pearce throughout and set pieces except the free header for Ajayi, again we was comfortable and not forgetting Amos claiming and punching everything. Saturday, one was a penalty everyone's still not actually sure what the referee gave it for and the other being a cock up between Bauer and Pearce which gifted them a chance and the only real sniff them getting was Davies scoring from the spot and Doyle capitalising from our poor errors which is probably the first of the season between them. So, I think we are more than capable to of dealing with any side that wants to 'lump the ball in the air to their big strikers'.
I'm more worried about other teams lumping our players in to the air! Oldham won't be the only side that think 'If you can't beat them, kick them' and the generally gash standard of refereeing in this league doesn't fill me with confidence that our skill players will be protected properly. As usual, the Belgian miser has left us with a very thin squad and a few injuries to key players could leave us stuffed.
Ricky Holmes said that complacency set in after their lightning start – and it’s something that can’t become the norm if Charlton want to be successful this term.
“We got carried away,” admitted last season’s top Charlton scorer.
“We thought we were better than what we are. We’re only a few games in – we can’t do that. We can’t go into the season like that because we’ll get picked off – and we were getting picked off. It was hard. We all thought we could get six. Us forward players got excited, thought we could fill our boots. We forgot to help out the back line. The gap was getting bigger between the midfield and defence."

Really good interview. He was bang on the mark with those comments. Very reassuring.

Ricky Holmes must be an absolute dream to play with. All the skills but a real willingness to work for the team as well, as well as a football brain, a good interviewer and seemingly a really nice bloke. Whoever identified him last season deserves 10/10.
Tarique Fosu has made the SkyBet/EFL team of the week and Ricky's got the League 1 goal of the day award (if there is an actual physical award, e.g. cash or a statuette) ..

Against the aerial threat, I think we are heavily reliant on Pearce and Bauer, the cock up which led to their second goal is probably the first time you can put a goal down solely in their direction as they've been so good. Really impressed with how the BFG has dealt with the physical stuff this season, he's really come on as a defender

The mix up between our two CBs was completely out of character to their performances the previous week at Rotherham. Bauer certainly is maturing into a solid defender at this level and close up fully justifies his BFG tag.
I think It was Pearce who barged into Bauer but hey sometimes these things happen in a split second. Jackson helped counter the loss of Magennis' height and Amos is also a big lad to be flying at you. Pleasingly none of the goals against came via the aerial route especially as Davies and Doyle were a handful.

Ulvestadt Foley Crofts Holmes
Versus
Fosu-Henry Clarke Forster-Caskey Holmes
No contest.
And with Reeves and Marshall to come.
Agree about Dodoo too.
