Decent that and extremely comfortable. Thought between 10-40 minutes we were superb, some real great movement and passing.Second half we just stepped off and saw out the game in a very pro manner.
Small is just a nightmare to play against when he’s direct. His width creates space for the rest cos he frightens left backs, who cry out for help.
One thing we got right tonight was our press, and everyone worked their bollocks off. If you have a side that are fit as a fiddle and press as a unit, you will have a chance in this shit league.27 -
Enjoyable evening made better by having an experienced striker Matty Godden start the game, I don't know how to explain it but he just shows football experience.18

He's decent. Had a shaky start, but one of the few consistent performers at the Mem this season.ForeverAddickted said:Professional... Thats what that performance was.
Got the job done in the First Half, should by all accounts have made it even more comfortable
But instead the second half was just solid, and did all that was required
Plenty of Football still to be played this season, and three points is three points regardless of the winning margin.
Was good to see the players just tone it down a Gear, even when we could have made it about 5-0 early in the second half, as there is no point wasting energy, what with another 19-games still to be played - Said on the Match Thread but would like the scouting team to take a look at Griffiths (their Goalkeeper) between now and the summer... One game isn't enough to sign a player, but he looked very decent in goal this evening, he was the sole reason the scoreline wasnt higher.3 -
Did Edwards do the tunnel jump?4

Exemplified best by that little dummy to win a corner in the first half - very deftlancashire lad said:Enjoyable evening made better by having an experienced striker Matty Godden start the game, I don't know how to explain it but he just shows football experience.1 -
Last season we would 100% have conceded 1-2 goals in that game and made life much harder for ourselves. Alas, it's another clean sheet in the bag.
Credit Jones for changing the team and getting it right. Would have come in for criticism if it hadn't worked out.
Great first half, could've scored more. Disappointing second half where we barely won a second ball and everyone's application dropped 60% but who cares.
Chuks has pissed me off tbh. His decision-making in that counter attack was so poor that I'm having trouble getting over it.
Nevertheless, we're creating a lot more chances and defending really well.
Ramsey is an outstanding defender, almost forgot.6 -

I think it’s testament to just how good we played in the last 35 minutes of the first half that people are being particularly forgiving of just how much we come off that in the first 35 mins of the 2nd half.Fortunately, Rovers had literally nothing about them to capitalise on the extra time and space we gave them during that period. We can be a real Jekyl & Hyde team, but there’s no doubt the momentum is going in the right direction. Really should have been 3-4 clear by half time and I suspect Godden will be kicking himself tonight he didn’t come away with a close range hat trick.6

That was such a relaxed and comfortable game that the North Stand decided to start singing songs I haven’t heard in years3

that first half was the best I've seen is play all year. absolutely superb. not the best second half but still could / should have had another couple. even the fucker near by us in a Birmingham match listening to their game on speaker couldn't ruin it. COYA0

Although that would be lovely I'd prefer one at Orient or Stockport, or both preferably.Callumcafc said:Who was it that said Nathan Jones teams tend to start a season slow and then come on strong after Christmas?
Give them a gold star. They called it.
Hopefully this doesn’t fizzle out. But the momentum we have built should frighten teams. Genuinely believe we could go to St. Andrews and pull out a one nil win at the moment.2 -
Excellent first half, my only complaint is we didn't score more goals2

And now we've got Small and TCletthegoodtimesroll said:Still no harmony or consensus on the words to replace the ‘Lee Bowyer’ line in the Allez, Allez song, nor has everyone learnt all the words to the ‘on our way to the championship’ song. Not good enough, how can we hope to get promoted if we don’t all sing about it ? Jones out. Good first half of football, didn’t capitalise upon it second half. Godden looked like he tired early on in the second half, probably because he hasn’t had a lot of time on the pitch of late, so I thought the subs could have come a bit earlier. Another 3 points though, onwards and upwards
The reds have pace and width
Allez, Allez, Allex1 -
Good win but jones signing that deal is the best result of the night for me. Really hope we kick on in the coming weeks now5

Josh Edwards takes me back to the time when English managers looked to Scotland for a player who'd add some bite to the defence - usually for a bargain basement price.
I've never seen him bottle a tackle or a challenge. Good on him!27 -
First 55 minutes we were excellent. However we were quite poor keeping the ball/ going forward from then on which people seem to be very forgiving about. Comical cameo from Chuks0

Coventry has some engine on him. The boy doesn’t stop running. I hope people realise just how valuable someone who covers that much ground is. It may not be eye catching but it’s so welcome in a team like ours. Really like him as a constant in there for us40

Great first half, job done. Wasn't surprising things dropped off second half but we still had our chances. Thought Edwards was MOM but credit too to Ramsay, first start for ages and he was excellent. Small and TC good too, Godden showed he has something to offer. Everyone put in a shift. Onwards and upwards.
However, Chuks was awful. He's lost any pace he had, his finishing is woeful and he needs to get his head up and realise when to pass the ball to teammates. He's really just a human battering ram these days. He's worth having around because against tiring defence in the last twenty minutes he causes chaos but I wouldn't want us relying on him to actually score.4 -

Not many gold stars eh Cal.

Rovers had beaten CAFC 5 times in a row so it's good to get that monkey off our back.
Excellent 1st half after the 1st 10 minutes with Small going past the defender on the right side plus Campbell doing the same on the left. Not normally a fan of inverse wide players but it's working for CAFC.
Edwards MOM and his goal was a great strike on his weaker foot.
Do poor teams normally have 62% possession?
The good thing is their best chance was the free kick in the 2nd half that AMB saved well. It's taken 6 wins out of 8 to reach 8th place but at least it feels we are contenders now for the play offs but many twists and turns still to come.
Comfortable win despite just 38% possession to a team nearer to relegation.

Godden 10 goals in 28 games
Alfie May 11 goals in 35 games
Not really sure what to make of that stat.
Mins 10-40 were very good.
Thought we were really poor in the second half and can only assume the taking of the foot off the pedal in the second half was under instruction.

Second match in a row against weaker L1 teams where I came away impressed with the keeper. Blackman at Shrews looked very good and I thought Griffiths tonight looked excellent and had decent distribution. Big lads both of them.2

Think Chuks’ hold up play helps make him a threat as well. Brings others into play really well. His legs are pretty much gone but on another night where we aren’t winning comfortably, he definitely passes those speculative shots he hadLargeAddick said:Great first half, job done. Bristol’s rotations creating a spare man was adapted to and nullified within 10 minutes.Thierry was superb, noticed he didn’t blaze anything over tonight. He’s learning, confidence is growing and he’s having fun.Edwards playing much higher than previously in the first half and looked comfortable there. Great goal! Was impressed with Macca, stepping in and following his man, didn’t really miss a beat tonight.Kayne was superb, would have liked to see him come off at 70/75, looked tired.
Godden really wants to keep that start! We looked confident, we flowed, got clear in the first half, made a little adjustment in the second and shut the game down. As someone above has said, that was a professional job tonight.
Lloyd Jones signing a new deal + results going in our favour.
Can’t ask for more!!14 -

Please… let’s not give chuks a hard time. When, he’s been out of sorts for 5 or 6 on trot, ok go for it. But, Christ, he’s dug us out of lots of games and deserves respect despite the odd poorer performance.
