Surely we should have one slip for the new bat?

153 runs behind square on the off side.0
-
Carse with a drop now0
-
Wont win Test matches by dropping catches.
1 -
Thats horrendous0
-
Another drop. Carse this time and he's injured his finger in the process. Archer the unlucky man once again.0
-
Why no slips?0
-
Commentators calling it the 4th drop - i make it the 5th. 2 Smith, 2 Duckett, and now Carse0
-
4th drop -0
-
Perhaps some fielding practice under lights in that 2-day game would have been handy2

or 5th - either way - flippin not good enough0
-
Getting daft now.
Just give them the urn & come home.1 -
Carey making us pay for dropping him 1st ball.Rreally frustrating0
-
Root drops one in the slips too but really not sure whether Smith might not have gone for it.1
-
That was Smith’s catch but he just stood and looked at it1
-
Keeper has to go for that1
-
Wheels have well and truly come off. Joke here.0

Exactly. Practising for pink ball games also needs fielding practice, as picking up the ball is a lot harder.kinveachyaddick said:Perhaps some fielding practice under lights in that 2-day game would have been handy1 -
Looks like they are pretty good at picking the ball up...🤦♂️killerandflash said:

Could we just aim at the stumps. Might help.0

378-6 (73) at close. Australia lead by 44 runs.0

Joke of a day.

Duckett's second drop should have been two-handed because he wasn't having to stretch for it. Smith not going for Root's "catch" was mental fatigue combined with the knowledge that you'd already shelled a couple. Had he held onto everything then I'm sure he would have found the energy to go for it.2

so disappointing...yet entirely predictable...1

Catches win matches.
What's been frustrating in both Tests is there feels like the opportunity is there - the Aussies haven't been great. But between batting idiotically when 100 ahead and having 9 wickets in hand, players like Brook and Pope doing the same here, and dropping catches, we could well be 2-0 down not 2-0 up before Cummins, Lyon etc come back.5 -
I mean, Cameron Green's dismissal today is maybe the single worst of the series so far, Aussies have definitely not kept the foot on the throat when they really could have, and that this game isn't completely over already is probably a result for England I'd say. Game still in the balance. The issue is that England's bowling attack is just all wrong - any one or two of these bowlers could be playing (although Atkinson looks a fading force) but playing them all at once is ridiculous. Has Tongue run over Baz's cat or something? Not that he isn't also a shock bowler (although the last India Test he showed an ability to be a spell bowler too)0
-
If Australia bat on through the first session tomorrow, they'll be bowling against us under the lights, with a much harder ball. Starc will be licking his lips at the prospect of another 10fer.1
-
It's the hope that kills you. Maybe Australia are just better at cricket than us.0
-
we got two out bowled even though we only bowled about 30 balls that would have hit the stumps
Pathetic bowling from England1 -
Catches win matches, though i m o several of the 'drops' were easy whilst sitting in the armchair, but very difficult out on the grass
Sad to say, I reckon we are heading for another loss unless we get them all out for under a hundred lead and then make the most of the 'natural light' in the second innings0
