My first considered awareness of Nathan Jones was when he indeed (people doubted me when I mentioned this previously) was assistant to Chris Powell for an evening 0-0 Brighton away game in 2013. Hamer had a blinder, and we might have even won it near the end when Dale Stephens had his rocket shot saved. Stephens came on for Lawrie Wilson with about a quarter of an hour to go when essentially our set up had drawn Brighton's sting. Brighton had a very strong side and we were expected to lose. I remember the Nathan Jones angle because after the game on the Brighton Forum 'The Big Board', in the post match when many of their supporters bemoaned only getting a draw, and being far better than us, there was one poster (I can't find it in the Big Board search box, wish I could) who wrote a brilliant analysis of the game. He was particularly generous about how we played, and the artfulness we had shown negating the Brighton threat, and staying a bit of a threat ourselves. It was very detailed and pointed out how well coached and prepared we were. For some reason Nathan Jones and Dale Stephens both joined Brighton subsequently. Because of that, whenever Nathan Jones has been discussed anywhere, I find myself thinking that in football terms he isn't a mug. If he becomes our manager, on the face of it it seems like a major step up from Appleton, and probably Garner and Holden too, so that is a positive. For what it's worth I wish Nathan Jones the very best, and want him to be a winner.

He was slated as doing so, but I believe for that Brighton game, and maybe some others, he was fully involved with Powell. I am ready to be corrected, and I really wish i could lay my hands on that Brighton Supporters write up where I am pretty sure he credited Nathan Jones and Chris Powell by name.

You will find I wrote 'in football terms he isn't a mug'. Not that he is 'good', but yes I am influenced by having attended that game in person and reading the reaction from Brighton fans afterwards.
If Jones signs as our Manager I honestly think we can put to bed all the negativity regarding the ownership. Im not saying he will be a success here as nothing is certain however the very fact that he decided to join a 3rd tier club potentially facing a relegation battle says alot !!! he is not a mug, he would certainly have options, he doesnt need the money. All this must mean that he can see the ownership are serious and not the chancers alot on here portray them as

He has, and I'd argue that it was probably the most sensible thing he could have done after Southampton. He didn't help himself and he also fed a mob of soundbite journos exactly what they wanted in the form of some stupid quotes.
A well respected young coach who has the track record of playing effective football on the front foot and moving through the divisions. Also, with a serious point to prove, I am fully behind the bloke.
He may not have had a wealth of top jobs on offer, but the fact he's here is our gain in my opinion.

Might not have been them, but remember one Academy Youngster talking on twitter about some casual game at Bexleyheath Goals one evening... Jones (If it was him) saw it, and replied to the post saying that anyone who appeared there, would be in trouble when they showed up for training (in case of injury) - The player instantly replied going: "Looks like I'm not playing at Goals then"

Disagree. All we had to go on was what we saw in front of us, not what you were sharing about how they meant business.
It has been, and still is, a disaster. We’re about 4/5 points worse off than we were this time last season, something I genuinely didn’t think was possible. They’ve gone through 2 managers already and apart from this window and bar Alfie May, their transfer dealings have been poor.
Things do take time, but we’ve had a terrible year, and fans are basing their opinions on what they see in front of them, not second/third hand messages that they mean business.
The recent signs are positive and I hope all works out, but as a fan base we’ve been battered and bruised since the Jimenez days when it comes to owners. Skepticism and frustration is warranted

I don't think anyone calls the moneymen, Brener & Friedman, chancers. All my ill will personally, is directed towards the joke that is Charlie Methven, Jim Rodwell who has put previous clubs in the shit and Andy Scott who can't identify players consistently.
They're the chancers I always refer to and don't want near the club, a new manager and a few signings isn't changing that, the money came from elsewhere. I truly think we have a low ceiling with those 3 having influence.
Hopefully, with the latest murmurs of the money men getting more involved, they'll take a proper look at their track records and realise that they could probably do better.
Of course I could be wrong, but I'm usually on the money on a judge of character, and they have history with other clubs to cast some doubt over peoples minds.

I am pleased they know they've made errors. I sadly don't think they fully understand why though. Otherwise finishing the window short up front, with no perceived number 10 and no quality wide options should we need to switch things up in a game tells me they don't fully understand our weaknesses yet.
I do think they seriously and fundamentally over estimated our playing squad and how much money and work was needed to arrest our decline down the league table.
I believe they will not want us to drop into Division 4. We need a little luck to not get any further injuries. The next month could make or break us.

Ignoring him Dubai -I think he was the same with me when I was giving some info on here s few years back - ITK itis syndrome - the agitant thinks that coz u are giving info out that may be of interest to fellow fans, u r there to be shot at and generally abused when u do so - if the board were full of them, u wouldn’t bother but fortunately they are in the minority and hopefully he can get some cream for it - carry on with the info, I’m sure most appreciate it 👍
