    Plymouth CB too today!
Given how early this one's been announced I reckon you might be right.
  • Don't know enough about Connor Coventry to make comment, looking at his stats been out on loan a lot, I'll reserve judgement.

I'll be happy with Gillesphey. Should strengthen our defence and can put Jones on his natural foot. Only question is whether he can play in a two.

Could this actually be a turning point? We’ve all been so down after the results since December, but with Bakinson, Fiorelli and now Coventry, signing, this feels very different from the last four or five windows. To secure a player that bigger clubs were chasing from under their noses is a good sign.
And my wish list was three midfielders to get the ball rolling, so I’m slightly flabbergasted if I’m honest.
And if Cawley is correct and we’ve signed Gillesphey then that’s another statement of intent.
We still need a big striker and a left back, but as we had virtually zero hope of reaching the playoffs I wouldn’t mind waiting until the summer for them.
Now send Aneke off to see a world leading sports injury specialist and I’ll be very happy.
  • Depending on the CBT situation we need 1, maybe 2 wingers still, a striker and another left back. Keeper wise I think to truly compete at the top we need better but it's low on the list for January IMO unless someone absolutely mustard is available
  • Looks decent
We still have a long way to go
The defence needs fixing and if Dobson and CBT go we'll need at least four more (inc the Plymouth centre half)
    Desperate for a forward

Unless we are planning on moving to a 352 in which case wingers aren't really necessary and a young player like Tyreece and a versatile player like Chem are enough options out wide if we want/need to change it up within games.

I think you might be on the money, especially if we want to keep all our strikers happy if all fully fit

Today is also D-Day for JCH to sign or we move on. I believe we have already started to talk to that club, and has moved positively.. He is a player been mentioned on here a number of times, and we was in for him in the summer.
    Sam Smith?

Reason being it's as late as today presumably so he can't play against them...

Must be Sam Smith from Reading.

    Appleton doesn't do 352

Does mean full back/wing back should become a priority

  • Would assume the striker is Sam Smith from Reading and I totally agree that Ness badly needs a loan somewhere, just go and get regular football again.

That isn't the name that has been mentioned to me.

I think the Plymouth CB plus a LB are all we need in defence. I think people will be amazed how different we look defensively with a proper midfield in front of them and a striker that can hold the ball up alongside Alfie.
    Exactly. 👍

Lewis Bate being made available. I know it's probably now very unlikely that we have signed Coventry.
  • I wonder how many of the names from the summer we're going back to, JCH, Ladapo, Smith, Etete

I just can’t see it, Appleton has stubbornly stuck with 4-2-3-1/4-3-3. He’s known for playing that way with previous clubs too. With our poor form if it was his preference I’m sure we’d have seen it by now.
