I'd forget about JCH and start looking elsewhere. No point being dicked about for 2 weeks only to find he signs for someone else in late January, leaving us scrambling around on deadline day for waifs & strays
And I'll tell him this too.
"If you don't sign by Thursday evening we're going elsewhere". And then mean it.
It’s Nixon, so take it as you will, but he says we are interested in Niall Ennis
He’s was signed by Blackburn on a 4 year deal last May so presumably it would be a loan deal 🤷♂️
Local paper extract 15 December;
‘Ennis has been handed a series of setbacks. He arrived at the club with a groin injury, then picked up a knee complaint before suffering a hamstring issue in a recent Under-21s match. All of that has meant he's spent more time in the gym than at Ewood Park. After getting his first start on Tuesday, the aim for him is staying fit and available.’
So another possible loan instead of a permanent.
One moment it feels like we're shopping at the top end of the available market trying to sign JCH apparently, and other various names mentioned such as Gillesphey and Coventry only to find that we're not even shopping at Poundland but seemingly attempting to raid rent-a-wreck for anything that moves and been recovering from a variety of bad injuries.
For all the media noise to date we've got 2 players on loan so far who have barely kicked a ball this season.
JCH was offered a very good deal, and was happy.. But the agent is playing around, putting figures in his head of what he could get.. As I have said, I wasn't to fussed about him, I think we can get better long term signing for the money being laid out for him. I always thought it looked like, trying to get the fans onside type of signing.
Does anyone believe this guff about decent players not being signed due to circumstances beyond the clubs's control despite the heroic efforts of Scott and the professional football people?
I am no expert in recruitment but I would imagine the primary objective is to recruit strong candidates not just leak information about how you tried to recruit them, offered big money, but in the end it was all too difficult and anyway we would probably be better off looking elsewhere.
Unfortunately there is no league table for clubs with the best press releases and information management.

Deal isn't off as of yet.. But why should the club pay over the top? Pay him a stupid wage that might upset the rest of the squad?
They are looking to spend money this January and in the summer.. But it isn't that easy to get deals over the line, and that's not only Charlton that is every club up and down the country!
First big name signing is the hardest, we either need to be in a position as a club, that we have become viable promotion candidates or sign a player that makes others think wow. Get one transfer coup done and others are more possible.

100% JCH might also want to play Peterborough so they don't get any money out of it.. Time will tell.
Also think JCH will have to weigh up the risk/reward of waiting to become a free agent, one bad injury from now until then and those numbers his agent promises him come plummeting down

You can get any deal done at anytime, you’ve just gotta come up with the money.
I personally think it’ll be a travesty if we let this one go, we have the opportunity to start next season with the third tiers best two attacking players.
Anything about JCH’s age and “attitude” is nonsense the geeza is a menace and just the sort of player we’ve been crying out for.
Cautious on the pitch which causes us to drop points, cautious off the pitch which causes us to stand around with our dick in our hands most windows with a half baked squad, you can't say this not lot aren't consistent. VFR!!!
What more would you like them to do this window, offers made' they cannot make clubs and players sign until they are ready.
It's all very well making offers but the nitty gritty of negotiating with the players is when it can come unstuck.
I agree and neither of us know that our side is the problem.

The agent isn’t wrong though, he will make a lot more money for JCH if he moves in the summer. And I’m sure we will still be interested then so it’s not like this is his only chance to move to us. Even with our very good deal we will probably offer him more in the summer because we won’t have to pay the £500k fee
Club is at the worst it has ever been, no joy at all this season, ever dwindling crowds, losing the next generation of fans, if it is not to be on JCH then they must do something to show that next season will be different.

The money he wants is miles over the top.. Charlton are offering him a deal to be one of the highest if not the highest paid player.. Not about the money, it's about taking the piss!
Joe Taylor is an interesting one to maybe keep an eye on. Linked to Bolton too , but not entirely sure why with Charles,Adeboyejo , Bodvasson and Jerome all there as senior strikers.

The problem is though, we’re not playing with Monopoly money.
JCH is well within his rights to see what comes up here or abroad before making a decision, and JCH won’t be the reason we don’t improve next season. It will be failure to acquire a replacement as well as 7 or 8 other positions we need improvement over the next 2 windows.

Lincoln have ‘won the race’ apparently
Makes sense , they haven't got many forward options on their books and have had injuries.

Would say so yes, they will have 3 or 4 back ups for each position they are looking to recruit..

We always seem to hear this in transfer windows as if it’s a surprise. It’s been said about fees as well as wages.
It should be expected, JCH is probably in no rush as he can wait a few weeks and see if he gets an even better offer. I expect he’ll also be weighing up waiting until the summer vs the risk of picking up a serious injury.
He might not get what he’s asking for, but in his position why wouldn’t you ask for a huge wage and hope a club is desperate enough to pay it?

All comes down to fan pressure right? I really hope Charlton don't fall in to that trap, of a desperate signing. Personally, I would rather wait for the right signing, Made to may signings over the last few years, because of desperation and pressure.
I hope the club are talking to other targets rather than waiting for JCH to make his mind up.
if I was mr Scott, talks with other targets would be leaked to the south London press. It would give JCH something to think about, £10k a week now or roll the dice on the summer

Sorry, but that is nonsense.
No fan pressure "made" Sandgaard or SE7 Partners make signings; they are supposed to be serious business people in control of budgets.
Of course fans clamour on forums and social media for more and bigger signings but that happens at every club, every window.
SE7 can't even use the excuse TS had of being a nieve yank new to football.
Rodwell, Lengahan, Methven and Scott have all been in football for years.
They know how the transfer market works. Perhaps they just aren't very good at it.
I agree that they shouldn't just pay any price but please don't try to spin it as the fans' fault that they have overpaid for poor players in past.

Disagree - clubs do make some signings on fan pressure, and certainly happened during Sandgaard time as well. Pressure to spend money, and sometimes rushed in to a signing!
And I didn't say SE7 will do that, I just said I hope they don't fall in to that trap... Will Grigg and Sunderland is a very good example, money to spend, need a striker but instead of waiting, the pressure of the fans and expectations of the window.
But the issue is down to the club not having the right recruitment in place in the past.. And unless Scott pulls his finger out, he is in the same boat.

£10k a week is what he / his agent wants. We have probably offered nearer £6k.
