For anyone that went, apart from the slip how did Taylor look?
Not great. Looked a bit lost playing further forward to start with. Then when McGrandles went off he dropped back into his role and was a little better. Not a great debut but it is his first 45 minutes since February last season so can’t really judge him on it. Set piece delivery looked pretty good
    Cheers.

Just watched the highlights(didnt take long)My fears about Hector as a defender were confirmed.
1)Goal 1 yes Mcgrandles should have done better, but Hector should have put that out and not give it to a player under pressure near our goal line.
2)goal 2 The header by Ness was poor(Innis would have put that near the half way line)but Hector was nowhere near his man when the ball came in.
3)Another pass by Hector to a man under pressure near his own penalty area, ball lost comes back, tap in.
Yes I know we were lacking up front, but this poncing about is going to cost us dearly. If we dont liven up on saturday,I can see our goal difference taking a hammering.
Can't blame a player for another players poor first touch.. Both times, they had time, if the first touch was good enough. Hector is a defender, that is going to look to play out.

Maybe should have been tighter for the 3rd goal, but also think the keeper should have done better, went straight under him.

I agree the touches of the midfielders left a bit to be desired, but without wishing to be seen jumping on a players back early in the season,Hector does worry me.Against Aberdeen two of their goals were pull backs after Ness had been beaten,I thought he should have been tighter there.
if we are to persist with the playing out system.it has to be done quicker.at the moment, teams are letting us have the ball and just dropping off.
Maybe, I think if Hector plays he needs to play in the middle of the 3. But looks like Ness is first choice in the middle at the moment.. I would like to see a more mobile CB come in.

He probably wasn't helped by being dropped into a team that was playing pretty badly in general. It would probably be a bit unfair to expect him to turn the whole thing around when no-one covered themselves in glory.

Let's not McGrandles him yet, give him a chance to play a bit more consistently and go from there.

Funnily enough, finds himself in the same Mcgrandles signing situation as last season, signed injured/ recovering from injury, no preseason and then thrown in at the deep end to get match fit.

We are taking the positives from last night's shambolic humiliation
Injuries aside, Holden won't have any selection headaches for Saturday
10 players given an audition for a first XI slot
    all opportunities pissed away

We are though calling Bullshit! on Holden's insistence that he was out to win that game
10 changes weren't all because "(insert name here) can't play Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday"
Dead giveaway was leaving 2 of the 3 best players on the bench
That was an extended training session for the injured returnees, youngsters and makeweights

Saturday's team at Posh will largely match the Orient lineup
As will the Tuesday fixture versus The Gas

We were 1-0 up when he came on. I assume it was a preplanned HT sub to give him 45, and take Camara off.

He had bright red boots on, so easy to see who gave away the 3rd goal...

You may be right. The problem is that the Orient lineup , with only one striker and  with Payne presumably in for Fraser and god knows who (Kirk?) in for Campbell is noway good enough to impose itself on Peterboro. Our defence in its current state is likely to be overrun by their freescoring forwards.
The reconstruction of the team has barely begun in my eyes so we had all better adjust to that.

Another cup defeat to go with the others to a team from a division below us and there have been plenty of those over the last few years.

This underlines that there's something wrong with the culture at the club that continually surrenders to teams who demonstrate a bit more fight and determination. We've seen in League One matches also on too many occasions that we run out of ideas once our opponents get under our skin and disrupt our rhythm. That's what we (well Dean Holden) needs to turn around if we have genuine top six/promotion ambitions.

A few players who might have thought they were in contention for a place in the starting XI in the league need to be considering their next career move. They were given a chance to demonstrate that they are worth playing against Peterborough in the league and they blew it.

So, over to Andy Scott to shift them on and bring in some new blood.

Couple of decent touches, movement was as good as anyone last night (not very), and looked like a player who hadn’t played in months (and enough with teammates).

Well the mood swingometer has been flapping like mad this week - from massive optimism to a massive downer in the space of 4 days - personally I think we went into yesterdays game knowing we need 5 good players in and 5 no hopers out and that remains the case - I’m still optimistic and am prepared to wait until the window closes to make any meaningful judgement on the new regime

     Don't hold your breath
    Done eff all so far.
Come on, that's not true, is it?  We've got a promising forward / striker in, we've got Camara, we've got Isted and held on to key players from last year, plus a couple of promising players.  It was a ridiculous thing to happen, but lets see where we are after Saturday.  If we lose that we can get arsy.

If you’re into finding out who we would’ve drawn, here are tonight’s draw numbers…

Charlton would have been ball no. 4, Chelsea 5, Palace 6, etc. up until Luton 10. Rest of numbers remain the same.

    And in true Charlton stylee...

    18. Tottenham   v   10.  Newport County

A Far too sensible and measured post Doucher!

One blessing about not being in the next round.

We dont have to wait until the end of time for them to bother doing the draw - I aged about 10-years by the time they got round to selecting us vs Man Utd.

Indefence of @timken he has over 50 years been watching Charlton home and away.
Understandable sometimes you know work pays for football and yesterday would make anyone pull their hair out over that result.

Good for him, but it was a s***** thing to say.
At best it can be put down to misunderstanding a tongue in cheek comment in print.

7 hours stuck in a car in total.
On way back M4 shut & diverted all over the shop for ages.
Finally get back towards London and M25 shut.
In the intervening time we had to spend 5 hours in Wales!

Realistically, you don’t go from the soft underbelly of last years squad to complete challengers over a summer. Being spoilt in a summer by SCP is a rarity.
The squad IS better than at any point last season but was admittedly behind the curve for an Aug 5th start.
It’ll be mid October before we’re starting to see what we’re really about.
Fortunately the fixtures until October 3rd don’t look too bad, considering fitness / late signings etc.
We have a good chance at being within touching distance by the time the current and (potential) new players get up to speed.
    Last night.
    Result + injuries, obvious negatives!
    Tayo + 70, Terry + 45, Hector + 90, Camara + 45 is a positive.
We are  in a lot better place than 12 months ago, a chance at improving it a bit more in the short term and a a lot of individual performance growth to come in the medium term.

Just watched the goals. The problems we saw in pre-season are still there. All over the place defensively. Yes McGrandles got knocked off the ball too easily for the first, but what about the hospital ball from Hector in the first place? McGrandles had 3 blokes round him.

The pissing around at the back was frightening similar to the nonsense seen under Garner.

Injuries mounting up again as well.

    Same old same old.
McGrandles had enough time there, he was simply unable to stop/control a slow moving ball.
This is in addition to it being McGrandles who originally lost the ball in midfield.
Hector's only fault was in assuming a team mate was capable of controlling a simple pass.
