If we sign some decent players and are around the top 6 all season I’ll be happy enough, but I think the last ten years have really taken it out of me and I suspect I’m not alone on that score.

The owners could be the richest in the world, it matters nothing, it is how you spend it. Dushitelet spent a LOT of money, but did not spend it wisely.

Completely understand this viewpoint. Supporting our lot for the last decade has been very, very painful with only the occasional high spot to take the edge off the pain.

Head in the trough and get blinded by reality . The difference with the Spivs @Airman Brown and I think Kavanagh and Varney went against them and got relieved of their duties eventually but that’s where principles , life choices and minerals come in to it , who knows what side of the fence people will fall when faced with those career/life choices
Hope the atmospheres can come back this season with Holden at the wheel and potentially a new and improved squad. The noise at The Valley last season was the worst I’ve ever heard.
I’m assuming that Ed Warrick and Simon Lenegan are amongst those with less than 5% holdings. As has been said an actual percentage breakdown for everyone would be nice but I don’t think we are going to get it.
Well, probably not. In the UK, if you REALLY wanted to find out who the shareholders in a company were, you could. Section 116 of The Companies Act 2006 requires that the register of members (shareholders) is available to inspect (for a fee, if you are not a shareholder yourself) at the company's registered office. Clearly no such facility is available in the Cayman Islands. Another reason people decide to incorporate companies there.

We roll the dice again with the new group. I’m hopeful the next few years will be better but having been through this so many times I’m not optimistic in the way I was about previous takeovers.
Their statement talks about actions not words - we’ll see in the next few weeks how serious they are as we still need to improve on our wing backs and strikers for Holden’s 3-5-2 to be effective. To move away from it in the near future will have been a waste of all the work done so far in preseason.
A consortium means costs are shared and we don’t have one individual implementing their ideas about football as we had with RD and TS. That’s something else that could be a positive but it comes with the risks others have pointed out. It wouldn’t surprise me if members come and go, while it could be difficult to unpick when we’re sold again in future.
Appointing an experienced SMT is a positive but it’s a basic mistake made by both RD and TS. It’s the bare minimum for being a normal football club, never mind an overachieving one. The appointments need to be right, enough money made available and spent effectively both on and off the pitch. The balance needs to be right between short term and longer term investment, something I don’t feel TS got right when aiming for Category 1 while in League 1.
I’ll watch any interviews the club put out but I won’t be concerned if they don’t produce any. It’ll excite a few but many fans will understandably not believe anything they say while others will pick it apart. With where we are as a fanbase I don’t see much for them to gain from doing so.
Will they be a success? We’re in a league with a handful of other clubs who also believe they should be playing at a higher level. There’s usually a few well ran smaller clubs who will challenge too. If Mr Sandgaard had said nothing he would’ve been accused by some as crawling away on his belly. He got us out from Southall. Steve Sutherland whatever else he is is a Charlton man through and through. I hope Steve Sutherland is prepared to cover the very hard yards to get several thousand bums back on seats. It is relatively easy and glam to concentrate on corporate sponsors, executive boxes and ‘events’, but he will need a lot of school visits, community outreach, and rounds of leaflet dropping. He is not as young as he was. The curry nights, or QandA’s, the Johnny Cash evenings are well and good even if the catering is crap and food rank, but events like that pay the wages of commercial staff but trade on the support we already have but we want to bring back bodies in the empty seats. Good luck Steve, but I hope for imagination and creativity from your area, and absolutely not a one off sale of the name of the Valley. Really not interested if they say something or not. They are clearly fronting up the capital but letting others, hopefully competent people use it how they see fit. They obviously know little about football and I think it's probably right they keep the day to day stuff at arm's length. Holden and the newly appointed SMT are key here.
Whilst his ownership was ultimately disappointing, I think he did have the clubs interest at heart,but just executed his ownership poorly. I would take a thousand Sandgaard’s over the shysters and conmen we had before him.
Ironic that Sandgaard’s leaving message includes his thanks to Storrie and the “excellent job since his appointment”. If only he had appointed people who knew what they were doing from the start instead of just the last few months when, in this case, they were imposed on him. It could have been very different and he could have received the credit he obviously craved 💥
I’m optimistic about the next couple of years, although from a highly sceptical starting point.
I’m not aware that Warrick is a FD at all. It’s not obvious in his CV, which seems to be property investment related. Elliott/Sutherland…I welcome them along as people we know are Charlton fans, but I was disappointed with Steve’s recent tweet supporting Sandgaard. We have to have owners who are more than just paying the bills. Elliott & Sutherland (and Gavin Carter) need to be more than figureheads/yes men. They need to rebuild the respect within the club - one very easy thing they can start with - and bring us all along for the ride.

Three or four more quality signings and then same again with good loans and support for the manager and we can start to think we can get out of this league…finally.

I would be very happy if the Global Partners money men stayed in the background doing their financial thing.
What I do find reassuring, is that they've appointed people experienced and knowledgeable to run the day-to-day operational football side of things. After a decade or more of rank amateurs and shysters, we should at least recognise that the intention is to run the club in a proper and structured way.
Proof of the pudding is in the eating and all that ...... but I don't see why we have to negatively pre-judge the newcomers, just because we're jaundiced and wounded after the Prem years.
We have to give them a bit of time and a chance to prove themselves one way or another. But it's the football team, performances annd results that I'm now focused on. That's surely what football is really all about?
I wonder why Sutherland is only an interim appointment?
Possibly it's intended that Tony Davison comes in to do it. That's his role at the Northampton Saints Rugby Club and he was seen sitting with CM at the Gillingham game. They worked together at Sunderland too and he is vastly experienced. Maybe he's said 'no' and Sutherland is a stop gap appointment.

Usually (semantics of job titles aside) the Technical Director is in charge of all football related matters - recruitment, scouting, academy, player performance (all) and so on - the Director of Performance (could easily be Head of Player Analysis) deals with that part of the TD's portfolio, and reports to the TD.
