Here is a crazy idea, go get Ladapo without selling one of our best players on the cheap, you know, have a serious crack at promotion.

PWADDICK said:With regards to CBT, it depends on how the next manager wants us to shape up. If we use wingbacks I’m not against the sale as long as it’s reinvested, which I don’t think it will be.0

AT least they are signings I guess, my expectations have taken a huge blow since about 4 weeks ago.

I wonder if players see our immediate league position and just think, Nah im alright. How do you sell to them the ambition is promotion with 4 losses already. Hard sell surely?1

Henry Irving said:All those saying CBT isn't any good and we should sell for £1.5m.
Ask yourself why another team in a higher division are, supposedly, willing to pay all that money for him?
It's depressing when some fans immediately trot out the party line fed indirectly by Methvan that "this is good business","everything is ok", "it's all part of a three window plan" when it's plain to see that plan is already collapsing.
Selling one of our only effective attacking outlets (being generous to May at the moment) on deadline day with very little on the horizon is certifiable. He’s been the only real excitement in some pretty turgid football at the moment.3 -
Scoham said:For anyone saying selling CBT would be a good thing how has losing our better players worked out for us in our history, and particularly over the last 10 years or so?
I’m not surprised he’s being linked with a Championship club. Even if he’s mainly a sub he’ll be a useful player at that level with his pace and ability to beat players on either side. He’s improved since he’s been here where he joined on a 6 month contract and wasn’t a regular for Tranmere in L2.
So many claim he has “no end product” but I see a player who consistently beats defenders using his pace, game in, game out. This season he has 2 assists in 5 league games. Last season he scored 8 in the league in 19 starts and 10 sub appearances. That’s a far better record than many wingers we’ve had who could go through games without beating a player more than once or twice, having a shot or getting a decent cross in.
The ultimate winger has both pace and great technical ability. He’s one of the extremes - his pace allows him to go past defenders with ease. He’s the opposite of say an Andy Reid who wasn’t quick but had the skill and intelligence to regularly create and score goals without needing many opportunitiesAn Andy Reid type appears to have more end product as it can come from far fewer chances. That one moment in a game when they find a bit of space to pick out the perfect cross, pass or shot.
CBT does it the other way, beat players multiple times a game, and as long as he keeps it up he’ll get his fair share of goals and assists over the course of a season. It includes a lot of mis hit crosses and shots ballooning over the bar but as long as he regularly beats the full back enough of those will lead to a goal. It’s both exciting and frustrating to watch but it’s also effective with the stats proving he has an end product.
If we sell him the money won’t benefit the squad this late in the window other than reducing the losses. We were mid table last season with an even better player in JRS on the other wing.If he goes we’ll lose our main attacking threat, where’s that going to lead us?0 -

I think im the only one who doesnt have a reliable source
when someone posts a rumour, you can respond with:
’I understand this to be the case’
or
’thats not my understanding’
That’s it. Just talk like you’re a sky sports presenter outside the gates of a training ground. Sorted.6 -

I know weve been told to not pile in on you, but you talk so much bollox its unreal.1 - Sponsored links:

If CBT does go it will further make me think that Andy Scott wants 3 5 2 and CBT does not fit that at all. In that way it makes sense but only if more players come in to make the group better.
BT was playing in a wing back role and defensively, he was all over the shop.2 -

Don’t particularly know much about Louie Watson but would have preferred Lewis Bate, played more, left footed, good quality.
Really hope we go all out and get Ladapo. Being close to his brother might be an advantage for us.17 -

Hence why he'll only sign if Ipswich get the Leeds lad on loan.0 -

If i was them i'd rather keep Ladapo.1 -
A club with good owners and ambition to get out this division would get ladapo on loan or maybe even put their hands in their billionaire pockets if we sell one of our biggest attacking threats to fund this a player who gets you out of your seat and skins fullbacks then I'm done honestly my season ticket can sit on the bedside actual p take but I hope I'm proved wrong by tonight I really do.4

As FA said, it will be loan because simply put they go through quicker than a permanent transfer.2 -
Why don’t we just get Ladapo permanently? Would put us ahead of all the other league 1 clubs that want him on loan, otherwise the fact we don’t have a manager will probably mean he picks one of the others2
-
If we were a normal club I'd honestly be ok with letting CBT go. If he doesn't fit the formation we want to play and we can get £1.5m for him to fund players who do then great! Except we'll never get £1.5m for a L1 player in the last year of his contract. And we don't seem all that committed to 352. And it's deadline day, so the £1.5m that could have been reinvested in a few players, or just getting Nombe weeks ago and having some left over would now need to be chucked at various last minute deals or saved up for next time, meaning we're weakened now. And we're already terrible and don't have a manager. And the signings we've made so far have looked a bit ropey, unfit and depressed so I don't trust that we'd use the money to get better players in compared to what we've lost. I think that about covers it
