For me, I’ve maintained for a long time that our biggest issue is not at the front, but at the back and in particular our inability to keep clean sheets.
So signing in some quality defensive reinforcements does make sense to me.

A shuffling of the pack is about as ambitious as we can be right now though. We look like being lodged fairly firmly into midtable mediocrity for at least this season.
The kind of players who could potentially change that aren't going to come here mid-season realistically.

It works out for what? Edun, Kane and even Ferguson are all out of contract in the summer, Bonne (and Wickham) are out of contract now. If we signed all 5 either on loan or short term deals until the summer and made room by loaning Stockley and Kirk out, I would call that a window that makes sure we don't get relegated.
To get in the play offs we need championship winning form for 4 months. We might do it, we probably won't. To expect anyone to gamble on doing it now is nieve at best.
Make sure we stay up, get a takeover done, plan for next year. In that order.

Well as I don't have a crystal ball to gaze into the future I will have to take your word for that.
If we do sign a left and right back that may free Sess' to go into midfield. If that were the case a midfield three of Dobson, Sess and Fraser would look pretty strong.
It might also mean Sess is going back to Fulham.
Hope not. I like him and would love to sign him permanently. Sadly that's not likely.
Stockley is better than Bonne in just about every way. That's not praising Stockley, by the way. The only reason people are vaguely positive about Bonne is Stockley's been a shadow of his usual self this season. He has still managed more goals than Bonne. He's better in defence, he links up better, he works harder. Bonne is a finisher who's lost the ability to finish.
They’re in the side to score goals, ultimately. And I’d fancy Bonne to score more than Stockley, I think.
