Financial concerns appear to have been prioritized over ambition. However, some of those deemed surplus to requirements cost money and are on longer term contracts and yet they haven't brought us success.
Only a professional recruitment approach under an owner prepared to spend wisely to implement a rebuild, with promotion the priority next season, will improve our chances of that.
Our current players would struggle to get in their team.
We need to be a little more realistic in what is needed to challenge for promotion.
I don't see an Aribo, Taylor, Grant, Cullen, Bielek, Bauer there apart from maybe Leaburn....in another full season and Rak Saki but the rest are good honest pros doing their best but ultimately not hood enough to get us promoted.

I think the point to take is that the weakness in the squad isn't a lack of players. It's a lack of quality. If we had a squad the exact same size but with players who were more consistent we'd be considerably higher in the table.
The players who left didn't really affect the actual quality of the squad as only one of them was getting near the first team.

I suspect these are some of the stronger squads.
They have clearly thrown in the towel.
The players who left didn't really affect the actual quality of the squad as only one of them was getting near the first team.

I actually cannot believe this nonsense, Holden is full of it and we will turn on him after a few bad results as per, Scott is not naive, he knew there was no money, he lied. Gallen is maybe the worst football negotiator or whatever his title is now, his bad signings outweigh the good ones (the good ones mostly being loans), our owner is a complete twat. We genuinely haven't had a proper good manager since Curbs other than Powelly when we had two good seasons under him, all the rest chancers or yes men, beyond fed up

Bonne was a free agent that his previous club wanted rid of
Matt Penney did well in Scotland but had a very dodgy debut
O'Connell was arguably our best performing centre half this year (and that is saying something)
So, whilst Kane, Kilkenny and Hector (and possibly Bonne) could be good additions to the squad - but potentially in the 2019/2020 season
Kilkenny and Hector could be so off the pace due to no first team football for a very long time that we really haven't improved the squad.

Oh rewind, I have been saying this since January 2014.
Having players at the Club that have no chance of playing does not make us stronger. I would prefer Mitchell or Eleware in the side than say Lavelle.

I will not be turning on our manager after a few bad results and I suspect I will be comfortably in the majority .
It's not about them not playing, we have 19 games to go to secure league 1 football next season. The last thing we needed was to trim the squad when we always struggle with injuries.
Who says I'm angry? I am deflated more like, fed up of this club being made a joke of. Same old season after season and it doesn't look like it's gonna improve anytime soon, we are going to be a league 1 club if we are lucky next season (cause theres so much crap in this league) but who knows what happens next season. The players that have left are coming back, I am fully aware they are pants but do you not see how them being 'off the wage bill' doesn't benefit us? A) we will still be paying some of their wages B ) we haven't replaced them with better players C) we have potentially made relegation rivals stronger sides D) with the money shaved we haven't brought in any marquee types to actually push us up the table. Then you've got these yes men feeding us lies making out like everything is all dandy, it's farcial.

Constant cycle, they get a few results, charm fans with the usual drivel 'I'll have these players fighting, this club is too big to be where it is' and then we are worried Barcelona are gonna come along and take them, few bad results and we are up in arms. Had Holden not won 3 games in a row we would have reacted very differently this window, we seem to think we are safe when we are only 9 points above the drop. If you think we won't turn on this manager after a couple of losses like the rest you are mistaken, I have heard us boo off the pitch every Charlton variation over the years, this team goes on a dry streak it will be no different.
All good though, we've got an injured Coventry reject, a Bournemouth kid on loan who barely has any professional games, a typical football league mercenary and Ipswich's third choice left back. It's an absolute shambles
These things should be evidence based. You have to give managers time, and you have to let them build the sort of squad that they want before judging them, just like Arsenal did with Arteta.
