Personally if i was being made redundant, i'd rather it was done by phone. Avoids the face to face awkwardness, fake handshakes, then having to get up and leave the room.
You can just say my agent will be in touch regarding the pay off settlement, put the phone down and it's done.

Everyone will have their own preference (of course the preference is to not be sacked at all), but for me avoiding the awkwardness is better. I honestly wouldn't care if it was a phone call, it's not like it'd be a long conversation anyway.
Spot on. Jackson lives in Essex (or did when he was playing for us). Imagine driving 45-60 minutes for a short 5 minute meeting to be sacked, then have to say awkward good year to any staff that are in the building, when you would probably just want to leave! then drive home again! That would annoy me.

don't understand the hoohah over how he was told he was going. At the end of the day it's the same result. I was made redundant after 26 years service for a Bank in the City and wasn't afforded a leaving do or even a collection as was the norm when folk usually left but I soon got over it.
I think a phone call is the correct way to dismiss someone. Nobody wants others to see their raw emotions or having to complete the walk of shame out of the building.
In this instance JJ will have the opportunity to compose himself and get his thoughts in order and enjoy coming in to pick up his things and have a chat with friends and colleagues and say his goodbyes.

It is nasty and it is not difficult to exclude anyone from systems. It is not only Banks that have that issue and manage to deal with it. Maybe they should use the phone? Surely better than the humiliation described.
I always got the feeling that TS never wanted JJ as permanent boss, which that is why he took a while to make it so and mainly because of the fans. Probably why he gave him a contract that if he did not do well he could sack him with less compensation

Sandgaard is Charlton...he owns the club and mostly it is his money. I am grateful that my season ticket is the same price. I just wish he would put in a proper CEO if the COO is not that post and step back a bit. The trouble is if it was my money I wouldn't be able to do that .

If I invested my money into something I had no experience in (let’s say an estate agent for arguments sake) - I would absolutely make my first move get someone in who knows property and running successful estate agencies.
It’s the best way to protect my investment in that situation because it certainly isn’t my game.
