Relationships: Kirk and Pickering at Crewe. Taylor and Grant for half a season. Shearer and Sutton, Bruce and Pallister. The Chuckle Brothers; from Me to you.
Football relationships all over the park was my philosophy, as a coach and manager, and it remains my mantra as a supporter.
In isolation, any team will struggle if your team play is sub standard because you have 11 strangers on the field.
Our best form last season happened when the relationship between Inniss and Famewo was immense. This helped Amos, the full backs, and the midfield, which meant as we kept 7 clean sheets in a row, smart finishing by Aneke and we collect 3 points. We could even afford Chuks to do his mandatory hitting the woodwork first.
We can suggest all difference players but if Nigel Adkins and the coaches can't get the team to link up for 98 minutes or so we are doomed because as I said before Sheffield Wednesday, there are no goals in this team at present.
I imagine though anyone loaning a player out will want them to go and play football. Were not playing football this season just hoof ball! So fat chance with any decent loans! 😂
Do they? Don't see any mention of 80k. My mate reckons he was on around 50k in the Prem, 25% pay cut after relegation.
The first one talks of 70k, my two Sunderland supporting mates, who don't know each other have both mentioned 80k in the past, what ever it was 40k in league 1 is the main issue that is obscene.
Edit sorry its Rodwell on 70k.
All that says is you have 2 Sunderland mates who are both stupid..
Probably still 2 more mates than you have got if that is your attempt at humour.
From the guy who spends his entire day on this forum, that really cuts deep.
It’s starting to look like Sandgaard has a very different perspective on loans to what we’ve seen previously. Not sure there’s a Connor Gallagher type about to join.

The amount of posts/tweets I have seen saying Sandgaard/Adkins out is just ridiculous.
A man with no former association to Charlton has saved us from extinction and gone on to spend the most on transfer fees in the division and still it isn't enough because we aren't shelling out over 10K per week for a league one player.
We really do risk coming across as an entitled dummy spitting group if we start trying to push TS out after a bad start to the season (4 games into the league season btw).
We had huge support from the footballing world when protesting against awful owners, however we risk looking like united/arsenal fans when screaming we want people out just because we have lost a few games.

If we cant be happy with someone with the enthusiasm of Sandgaard then we'll never be happy with whoever the owner is
Andy Holt (Accrington Owner) met with Charlton fans prior to the game at the Valley in 2018/19 to discuss ownership of clubs here in England, as he has a lot of sensible views on how Football should be governed. Although shouldnt be forgotten that he has a few stupid ideas, as think he was very in favour of the Salary Cap in its recent format.
Seem to remember from the write up that he asked Charlton fans what we wanted as an owner... whilst at the same time stressing that it'll be impossible to find someone who'll put Charlton before and serious business sense unless they're a Charlton fan themselves.
Slater | Roland | Sandgaard, they're all realistic businessmen, they're not Charlton fans so will do whats best for themselves.

Unfortunately I think it’s just the way football, and most things in general, are now. People want instant gratification.
The 2021 English football summer transfer window runs from 24 May to 2 September 2021. Players without a club may be signed at any time, clubs may sign players on loan dependent on their league's regulations, and clubs may sign a goalkeeper on an emergency loan if they have no registered senior goalkeeper available.
I asked this last week & no one replied & so thought I must be wrong.
I've still not seen it officially stated & the above statement was from earlier in the summer when the EPL hadn't agreed their dates.
I think its in line with the EPL - so 23.00 on the 31st Aug.

Substitute any owner or any club and that statement just about covers every club you could think of, Thomas has been active and enthusiastic in his approach to Charlton, as a man with no previous association, so all we can do is support his approach and trust in him and the SMT. Realistically what else can we do, sure moan a bit because we ain't doing things "right", but Thomas is the best we have had for an awful long time, and I believe will get things going with the right support from us, and advise from within our club.

I didn’t want “instant gratification “. I wanted our club rescued from impending oblivion and would have taken that with a statement saying that TS was going to steadily turn around the club and put it on a firm and sustainable footing. That would’ve made me very happy. I fully understand why some people are disgruntled that instead of saying the above the owner mouthed off about European football in no time at all and established PL status. Now either TS is dumb or he thinks we are.
It'll be interesting if we get the same standard of loan signing without Bowyer, as his/our success with Bielik and Cullen must have been a calling card for the club
Bielik and Cullen in L1, Gallagher in the Championship were all stand out midfielder loan signings for us, before it all went wrong under ESI.
Bowyer seems to have pulled the same trick with Tahith Chong, who's been a standout player for Birmingham this season.

A lot of you could do with letting the “PL and Europe in 5 years” statement go. It was said once. Not a constant repeat. It was said with excitement after a miracle swoop to clear ESI out of our club.
I’m sure you’ve all said an off the cuff comment once or twice, and doubt that people are still criticising you with it a year later. Understood that recruitment hasn’t been good enough overall in this window, but to constantly be beating Sandgaard down because of one comment, at a time when we were all celebrating as if we’d won the league, is ridiculous.

Agree with many of your points CEL. The only Cafc related social media platform I'm on is Charlton Life. TBH that is enough !
I haven't seen anyone say Thomas Sandgaard out but I was not alone, in believing that his hyperbole in his statement, "we will blow League 1 out of the water" would not only put pressure on Nigel Adkins but Gallen, Roddy and anyone else involved in the process of getting players in to a League 1 club.
If Charlton were interested in Jordan Cousins ( I'm led to believe they were) JC's agent would discuss his wage demand and signing on fees with Wigan and Cafc. This wasn't an auction. Wigan were so far ahead of Charlton budget that only Ipswich in League 1 could have competed for a player who had enjoyed championship wages for a number of years. A player who can play central midfield, holding midfielder and CB and in League 1 look class while doing it. JC was never top class but in League 1 it will be a stroll in the park.
Nigel Adkins out is an occupational hazard and as Cafc are 21st in League 1, and with 40 year old virgins more likely to score I'm not surprised, even though personally I would prefer to see him prove he's a good coach and set the team up to at least have 6 or so shots on target in League 1. Make a decision after 12 games if the current inaction continues. Charlton have been a joke for too long, even Palace and Millwall fans i know are feeling sorry for me !
Having no shots or 1 shots on target in League 1 at home is shocking and it will bring opprobrium upon the decent guy that is Nigel. The buck always stops with the manager or head coach.
Didn't Airman say the home end was 40% down for the Wigan game compared to Sheff Wed Sky game. Losing fans/critics/supporters/ at that rate will see less people in the stadium than we have sold Season tickets ! Just like Gym membership people will pick and chose and hardly turn up.

I am afraid supporters of ALL clubs have a strong tendency towards entitlement, e.g. we will continue to be here supporting the club long after you have gone, you need to get your cheque book out etc etc.
I am extremely grateful that TS bought the club from the spivs. Also, buying a club in the midst of the impacts of Covid has hardly helped the club finances!
But boy, he did let his enthusiasm run away with him when he made his comments about PL football and regular European football in 5-8 years back last September (which I guess we all took that with a pinch of salt). But then in May, he doubled down on it by saying they would blow through League 1 this year, having had 9 months to better understand the finances of the club and what it would take to assemble a strong squad for this season.
Hopefully some additional faces will come in before the window closes but TS does need to learn from his mistakes. It seems to me that he needs a partner to share some of the financial burden and perhaps a more streamlined senior management team.

Being critical doesn't mean TS or NA out. It means people are not silly and don't believe the reasons for such a lack of quality after all the ' we are going to tear thus league up ' nonsense.
It's a shame Thomas said that but it was overexuberant at worse and nothing more than that, he should not be flayed alive for failing to deliver on that, did anyone really believe that anyway, whilst ignoring the realism that he has kept us afloat and will in the long term deliver success, maybe not the Prem bit, personally I couldn't give a flying fig if we don't make the prem in 5 years, Championship is a different case, and should be concentrated on in the immediate future.

Why ? I am ged up with being misled and then told what was said was not meant.
If you don't mean it don't f***ing say it . What is wrong with the truth.
Hanging onto every word someone says is not healthy. The hysteria online to 1/2 statements is incredible.

So coming out with a false hood or misleading statement is exuberance ? Then there are too many people since Fat Boy who are 'far too exuberant '.
He said one thing one time when he was feeling particularly excited/exuberant and probably at the time did actually believe it - with hindsight it was wrong but that's hindsight.
It wasn't a promise, it wasn't a guarantee or a policy statement and people have got to stop taking it so literally. It's genuinely pathetic.
Anyone saying TS out is daft. Saved the club, invested serious wedge and continues to do so.
Needs to sort a number of things out but he has only been here a year.
He did himself no favours with the 'PL in 5 years' and 'blow through this division' comments. Because of that many fans were expecting us to go on an Ipswich-style spending spree. Fans expectations are high from his comments when the reality has now set in that we'll need at least 2 summer windows (and maybe more) to get a proper squad together.
If he'd come in and said something along the lines of, i've saved this club from going bust but honestly the entire club from top to bottom is a complete mess and will probably take me 2 years to sort out. I know football fans are impatient but we'll need time, we will build the club and squad back up gradually and then in a couple of years we can kick on for promotion, then i don't think him and the management team would be getting anywhere near the stick they seem to be getting.
Ultimately the guy isn't a Charlton fan and has spent a fortune on us and is covering huge losses every year, so for anyone to want him out is seriously crazy talk.
