Do we want to build the squad in a way that JFC getting fit is a must? Or one where he’ll have to fight for his place and might never be a regular? The latter is more likely to get promoted.
Our signings need to be first team level players, not cover that can do a job.
It does feel a bit flat going into the penultimate friendly and not having even managed to replace the players we lost from last season. Some were key too.

Under Bowyer after the injuries in the first half of the 2019/20 season, we ended up with far too many midfielders in the second half.
We are far thinner in other positions than midfield at the moment, so it's not a priority, with Gilbey and Watson to come back

Like you say, if we lose Clare | Dobson | Gilbey | Morgan to injury, would people prefer it if we have to rely on Dempsey / Vennings (who are still on that boardline of being able to manage senior football) or would they prefer Gomes who has experience?
I've always thought that the biggest gripe the last two years is our squad hasnt been deep enough, and we shouldnt be throwing in these kids when they're not ready - Yet are having to because of the failings during the summer to sign the right number (and type) of players
As Scoham says, the ideal scenario is all our signings will be first team players who can challenge each other.
The players we try to sign now though arent going to be stupid - Just look at Spurs and their inability to sign a Striker in the past because they know for a fact that they dont stand a chance of starting ahead of Kane, its going to be no different to an extent down here.

They won't be ready to start in the first team until probably until the Gillingham game, which is our 6th league game. If everything goes well.
If we don't get an extra body in and end up with say both Vennings and Dempsey playing against Crewe people will be saying why didn't we get an extra one.
The club will know far better than us when they expect Gilbey and Watson back and will make the call based on that. We are all guessing.
No disrespect to Dempsey but I'd love to hear why the club gave him a new Contract
e.g. If their reasoning is sound then fair enough, maybe its because Adkins wants to look at him and he would have been gone already had Bowyer remained - But he's had a number of loans (none at a great level) and hasnt excelled now, especially at his age.

I wish I had time to end the joke in a suitable manner such as this, but I must admit I was actually sitting on the lavatory waiting for the shower to warm up with only about a 10 minute turn around before I had to leave to get my train for work.

No doubt we’ll be competitive but no more than probably eight or nine other clubs. Playoffs have to be our target and anything else an unbelievable bonus. I think we’ll be back in the Championship but we might not get there quite as quickly as we all hope and want. At this point CAFC are building for the future. We need to recognise that. Our time will come again I have no doubt.

Totally agree. Sandgaard isn't throwing money about and I've seen a few idiots on twitter comparing him to RD . The obvious difference is that the former is showing he cares and putting a lot of time, effort and money into sorting the club out off the pitch.

I agree. Shame TS didn't say this instead of being in the PL in five years, European football in seven, blowing through League One this season. He has raised a lot of fans expectations, especially the village idiots on twitter, and made a rod for his own back. We've had that apology to that bloke prior to the Wimbledon game, and we've had the decision to reverse the Welling friendly.
Whilst I dont think there was anything wrong with the latter I think he's setting a dangerous precedent.
Just hope he continues to stay away from Social Media like he has done over the summer - I remember when the sun shone out of Southall's arse yet he still got a lot of abuse on twitter after defeats and suspect we'll see the same with Sandgaard if we dont hit the ground running this coming season.
Wont be surprised if some fans start to forget that he's been to more friendlies than Roland went to actual games and will start commenting on the fact that its alright for him because he's thousands of miles away from us in Colorado!!

i hate it when managers make comments “we are without 4,5,6 players”. What is it, 4 or 6? It can’t be both

I would keep him on trial as long as possible.
