  • And within the next 2 weeks you should start to see the loans coming from the PL Clubs too hopefully
  • People need to chill. It’s a rumours forum not a fact forum. Yes, there will be a mix of attention seekers posting rubbish and some will have some genuine rumours even if one or two facts are skewed. One thing’s for sure, it’s not going to change so I just treat it as a bit of fun until anything’s confirmed.

Rumours of signings that eventually happen are pretty rare these days. Clare only ‘broke’ a few hours before it happened. I’ve only ever had one ITK story in the whole of the time this site has been in existence and then I chose to keep it to myself to protect the integrity of my ‘informant’ - I would imagine a lot of Lifers do the same.
There are rumours & then there are posts that don't actually make sense. There is not a striker called Randall who plays for Plymouth. So either the name of the player is wrong or the name of the club is wrong. Might as well say that we are signing Joe Gomes, a striker from Everton.

  • I can see us spending some money on a couple of players when Thomas gets here, not itk just a hunch.

Big Thomas fan but in the most respectful way he is very 'look at me'/ a showman, taking his glasses off at the start of that interview, the song, all the signings standing with him last time round instead of Adkins. I have no issue with this btw just saying it how I see it.

That said I can already imagine him with a few ideas on how to unveil some exciting signings for us
For all that, Thomas allows his experienced professional staff run the show - they are the specialists and he knows that.
That's why he appointed them; they know the game inside out.

You can see that he likes to be involved in the process though.

Pretty similar to what Adkins was saying about having some senior players in the First Team so the kids watch and learn how they train and prepare etc.

e.g. No better way to prove they cant go cutting corners if they want to develop was his words if I remember rightly

The Bayern Munich example that Brighton's have copied is having an experience player doing his coaching badges playing in the U23/21 and not shouting from the dug out.
Good idea to play one of them in the U23 to utilize their experience.

We have reached the stage where we have Watson, Gunter and Pearce who because of injuries may have to play all together in the 1st team.

That is the opposite of the Brighton and Bayern Munich model.
  • Apologies for interrupting the sensitivities of CL posters but as we are 13 days away from the start of the 2021/22 season,  am I allowed to say ?

The next two weeks could be critical  :#

    Edit
Blackpool beat me to it, as I was watching the Olympics and forgot to send 24 hours ago  :o
I’m afraid it gets less lol-able each time someone posts it 🙁

    Other guys imitate us
But the original’s still the greatest

If they are not in the first team, they are a resource we absolutely should be using in the U-23s.

Joe Gomes is like one of the names a football video game that isn't authorised to use the real player names, would use  ;)

Joe Gomes, Barry Kane, Gordon Henderson...
    Terry Henry, Arron Bent,
    Warren Pratley and Len Watson

Firstly, I believe Gunter at just 32 the other day, is very much considered as part of the 1st team squad.
He's fit enough and quick enough.

Pearcey is only a year older at 33 and he himself will no doubt believe he still has something to offer the 1st team, even if he's not 1st choice. If he gets a game he'll bust a gut to keep his place. That's the character of the man.

The experienced Ben Watson at 36, having triggered his extra year contract extension, while having a great positional and passing ability, has slowed down visibly.

If anyone was earmarked to play the 'Bayern role' with the U23s, it's Watson surely?

I don’t think we’ve signed anyone that’s not been announced. Perhaps some are close early next week but I can’t see how a signed players name wouldn’t have leaked or for that matter why they wouldn’t be announced.

TBF to Covered end lad, he took up my challenge to concede his 60 likes if no Signing is announced by 5pm Monday. (He said it has already happened) his record is good and only a failed medical stopped him getting another transfer correct a couple of weeks ago.

    Moving on to other posters....

I'm very competitive despite being a Cafc fan and I would expect to be derided if I said a player would sign for Cafc (despite Cawley saying no substance on numerous occasions) who then goes on to sign for a club in the National League. Mullins or the "one season wonder". Not in the National League this season !

This was my favourite thread until the diving, simulation and diva attitudes took over. Let's keep it fun where we tackle hard but no studs up Comments.

If we give it, we take it; Those are the rules.

I agree that Watson at 36 is the best fit for the role. Pearce and Gunter have so much experience to pass on to the youngsters.

I thought Gunter was older, and Pearce has always given 100% to the cause.

Most Cafc fans wouldn't expect any of the 3 players mentioned to be starters unless other players are injured or need a rest ?

  • Any rumours of us signing a new player on this forum anyone ?

I expect Pearce to still feature quite regularly this season, unless we sign a really good right footed CB who can also play happily on the left

Can we make it 8pm Monday? I know the club often like announcing early evening 😅

Yes. Joe Gomes - exciting striker at Everton. A bloke I work with knows his agent and apparently he’s keen to return to London.

Doubt anything will happen on a Sunday. Best to check back tomorrow.

They have also got a centre back we are interested in. Mason Pearce.

Personally I don’t think Nigel Adkin will want him.
