Match Thread: Hull City v Charlton | Sat 02 Jan 2021

edited January 2021 in General Charlton
On this first Saturday of the New Year, we trek all the way to Kingston-upon-Hull, famous for fishing and biting cold winds off the North Sea.

They've not played for 2 weeks because of Covid outbreak and isolation - but still sit 3rd in the table.
Hull City boss Grant McCann: “We will be missing some players. It’s not ideal for us really because we haven’t seen each other for 10 days."

As it stands, they are very much promotion rivals. We need to get a result here.

Lee Bowyer: “We’ll approach the game trying to win it. Looking at them, we’ve come up against their manager on a number of occasions. They’re a good side, they kept most of their squad from coming down last season.

Apparently only the current 'Gang of Four' long term injuries are still missing, Aneke suspended, of course.
Gawd only knows how Bow will shuffle his pack. The only certainty is it'll be different from our last game.

We can only hope that players will play in their own specialist positions? You know it's a funny thing but that's what they've been trained all their career to do. That's where they play best. As you can guess, I'm not really a fan of square pegs in round holes.

Rumour has it that Rocket Ronnie Schwarz is in the building. If so, he's not registered in time to play today so this is a great opportunity for Omar Bogle to prove his critics wrong. Do it Boges!

Charlton: Amos; Gunter, Pratley, Pearce (C), Matthews; Watson, Forster-Caskey, Maatsen, Morgan; Bogle, Washington

Substitutes: Maynard-Brewer, Purrington, Oshilaja, Gilbey, Williams, Maddison, Smyth
