It’s all very well people saying ‘yeah but Millar and Stockley have come in this window’ but they’re only here for another twenty one games. Doesn’t seem anything to cheer about with such short term thinking. We need to start assembling a team to last us. Maybe we’ll start in the summer.4

If and when the story comes out, everyone who has sided with Maddison will wonder what was going through their mind to question the decisions Bowyer makes.
I am not in a position to put a public forum the situation. But what I will say is Maddison does not want to be here anymore and is not committed to the cause. When that is the case, it’s best to get rid. No matter how talented that individual may be with a football at their feet.
I am with Bowyer 100% and all I can say is, good riddance.2 -

Stockley too has proven to be a step up from Bogle, we await to see what Smith will be like, probably tomorrow night
Hasnt been a perfect last day but wouldnt call it an awful window
Give him 2 or 3 windows to rebuild the squad. We'll with just over 2 hours to go that's a window gone. Are we still at 2 or 3 more windows or is it now 1 or 2?
I would happily finish 10th or 12th if we cleared out the dead wood and bought in young hungry players. Instead we are getting rid of the players Bowyer and Thomas said would get us in the play offs 3 months ago and replacing them with more loans.
You might not agree with that point of view but you must at least acknowledge that its a valid point of view?7 -
jakecafc said:Morris was mustard for Scunthorpe.. always scored worldies, not sure now though. If he can get that form back then it's a good signing and could work well with the strikers like he did with that Van Veen I think it was them years ago.
I still reckon the Kirk deal will go through.0 -

Regardless of how impactful Williams and Maddison were or weren't we once again find ourselves in the same old situation of letting players go and now scrambling around for players on deadline day, Bowyer needs to pull some rabbits out of hats now and I can only see them coming from the Josh Parker bargain bucket now.
Why couldn't we have only let Williams go if we got Morris or someone in. I still think Williams had a lot to offer us, too many people got caught up on the goals and assist stats yet he brought a lot more than that to the team. Still it is what it is and it's just another deadline day for us.
Bowyer is going to have to start delivering first some players tonight and then some results on the pitch or he may find TS's questions become a lot more tougher than he's used to.8 -

It was so patently obvious that MM and Bowyer wasn't going to work within a couple of weeks.; at 27 a very useful lower division player had lost his way totally.
Marcus Maddison was going to either be a great signing or a complete disaster. I was hoping for the former.
Sadly it was the latter.
Losing Williams and Maddison on the same day seems...odd.1 - Sponsored links:

Let’s hope I have some humble pie to tuck into come the end of the season..!Who knowsIf we’re planning ahead then hopefully we are getting the players that we don’t want for next season off of the wage bill, and all being well, finding a system that might just get us up this year...1

Age and desire is key. I said it before. Lincoln last season had an average age squad of 31. This season 22. Their manager saw what was needed to compete in League one to beat the old cloggers with ego's. We've had too many players who are too slow and waste time with tippy tappy paces and back to Amos. We need young fit players with a career to carve out. Millar is just what we need to be signing on contracts, not loans. Lincoln managed to get the deals done at well under the salary cap.
Maybe we need to regroup in the summer and have a CP style clear out.4 -

We really needed a proper full time signing alongside Schwartz. We've unloaded wantaways, but not brought in any wanttostays.
I can't imagine Schwartz will want to stay come the end of the season if we're not promoted (Not that I've seen anything to say he's better than L1 yet)2 -

We have 6 loanees. 5 loan spaces in a match day squad... I am certain the cap will be worse next season. It would have been abolished by now if it were a real option.1 - Sponsored links:

Been announced a few minutes ago that Fleetwood have signed some kid from Burnley...
Had been training with the club though so guess he's not the signing they're trying to bring in so Morris could leave0 -

The only thing we can do is have faith things will work out I suppose. I've had enough of being too negative relating to Charlton for the last 5 years.5 -
J BLOCK said:If we don’t get AT LEAST players on a par with Maddison and Williams then we’ve massively fucked this - right now I’m not at all happy
Williams struggles to play 60 mins.
We've already signed Stockley, Millar, Schwartz and Smith.
I'm certain we're already better off.25 -

The players we've let go weren't the oldest players either. Maddison and Williams are both 27, while we also sold the likes of Lapslie
Schwartz, Watson and Gunter are all in their 30s. Indeed the youngest player we've bought is Innis and he's 25.2 -
