At the first sign of any trouble over our transfers: missing a target, delays, window deemed not good enough, etc.. People will blame Martin Sandgaard.

There's no obvious bad guy in recruitment now.

I don't expect too many changes to the recruitment set up, it wasn't necessarily bad in the summer, just, as per JJ own words, too "reactive" rather than proactive.

I just hope we get some decent conspiracy theories and even more brain fart logic tbh.

  • GED RODDY has resigned as Charlton’s Technical Director after 14 months to take up a key role with Fifa.

From January 1st, he will take up a lead role on Fifa’s Global Talent Development Scheme, which is about to be launched. Roddy joined Charlton in October 2020 and was the first senior off-field hire of the Thomas Sandgaard era.

Chines i agree with you but rightly so. What’s the guys experience? I’m concerned about the whole situation. We’ve now decided to go in a different with even less football knowledge at the club. What’s improved?

I’m not convinced by JJ over and above the usual ie he knows the club and playing for the shirt enthusiast, but I’m fine to the end of the season. However Gallen and the owners son? This doesn’t sit right with me. Fully understanding Roddy and Adkins weren’t the right choices either.

I would just like to hear and see a clear identity of what we are now trying to do in the medium to long term.
  • Roddy is injured
And probably will continue to be until his contract expires.
  • Has Roddy really gone ? Will it be better now? Will it be worse? Who knows ? I am sure I don't know ? One thing is sure. People at CAFC sure do like to employ their sons.
Does JJ have a son ?
    You'll know this, of course:

Mike Gliksten at the age of 23, became chairman of the club when his father Stanley died.

Of course he will because he isn't "proper Charlton" unless he is then it will be who ever the "outsider" is that we can blame.

    I can't blame Thomas, because... it's Thomas
I like Steve Gallen he's worked wonders
    Jackson is a ledge
Martin is Thomas' son and he's just here to watch Gallen anyway....

    Arrrraaggghhhhfuckballsdamnwhostoblamereeeeeeeaarrraagggghhhhhhh

  • Ged gets hounded out of the club, and it’s all falling apart.
  • is his son still with us ?
  • I thought I read that TS appointed his son because someone at the club was not doing what he asked ...... Roddy?

Most of them by the sounds of it.  Roddy won't be the last to go.

I am not going to speculate on individuals jobs but I wouldn't be supprised if anyone went.
  • Is that playing/coaching staff included?

I would be shocked if he does.    Unless he gifts it to Martin.........

    Less imo.
  • Seriously, why do think some TS is not going to be around long ?
I think the cost of running a football club is going to be far more than he imagined it would be.
His overall ambition was to take Charlton into the premier league and European football.
He is struggling with the budget he has set to even get us out of league one.
I think the worrying thing also is that he will see that  even chucking money at it won't guarantee success ie Ipswich.

Unless you are silly multi billionaire rich with money to burn floating around the 3rd division is only going to have finite appeal particularly as you point out if premier league and European football before 2050 were a consideration when taking the club on.

The budget isn't the problem, it's how it's been spent.  Watson and Gunter are on a fortune.

I’m not sure I buy into the theory that TS, as an astute and very successful businessman was so nieve as to not look or at least have people look at the finances of CAFC and football in general in league one and how he wanted to progress. We’d have to assume he was an idiot. I’m not saying you’re wrong and that he won’t be around for more than a couple of years because who knows. I just don’t buy into those particular reasons and if I’m wrong and it’s true that he’s a financial idiot then we’re bang in trouble.
  • The problem is, it's football finances though. Airman often gives a good account of how it all works out, I'm sure Sandgaard can fund it at a base level BUT it's those football industry variables that are the problem.

Sacking managers before the half way point of a season, watching expensive loan and perm signings flop etc.

That happens over a couple of seasons and you're sitting around wondering if it's worth it and are you just chucking millions into a black hole.
