Woof, I feel dreadful now. Haven’t agonised over every single minute like that in a long time. My heart still won’t stop going. We won’t play anyone as bad as Hull again but it sounds like we played quite well. Built some decent chances and defended solidly, which is exactly the kind is performance that keeps you up. Hopefully as the season goes on we’ll come up against teams who aren’t that bothered and we can take 3 points off them.
8 points from 8 games now would see us at 50 points. In a normal season that would probably be enough, but we’ll probably want 2 or 3 more than that. Hopefully QPR aren’t bothered anymore and we can get another 3 next match and jumpstart our run in. Just hope the Barnsley result hasn’t stung them
A good performance: strong and sharp. Am surprised we had only 38 per cent possession; we played with confidence and assurance for periods and were rarely troubled apart from a shaky start and a couple of defensive mix-ups near the end.
Morgan impressed with long, penetrating passes. Bonne is strong and lively in dangerous areas. McGeady improved gradually. As subs, Doughty and Aneke showed bright attacking flashes.
Hull were poor: crosses too long, pedestrian passes, no cutting edge; Eaves has declined since he and the Gills beat us at The Valley.
Paul Elliott was jubilant at the final whistle, beaming and applauding with Chris Parkes and his wife Bernie Ecclestone.
Shame Luton and Barnsley picked up points.. hopefully Huddersfield, Hull and Middlesbrough won't pick up any more!

What with Barnsley sparking into life and Luton grabbing a late late equaliser to build their belief, Hull could soon find themselves cemented into the bottom 3.

Not a massive fan of Bowyer, but if he keeps you up this season, after all he’s had to endure off the pitch, then fair play to him. Huge achievement. It’ll make a good book one day.
Look forward to locking horns on the 3rd of July. Although there probably won’t be much riding on it, just bragging rights (and the charity bets I had with a few on here).

Was a shame Aneke came on and only managed a flash of excitement other than being a little slow , but hopefully he’ll improve! morgan was pinging balls and doing the cute passes needed to unlock the defence - think he may be very influential.
if that second goal had gone in from that champagne football of a move their heads would have dropped... instead they huffed and puffed but no real danger....

Thank you. Been very preoccupied with family health issues. Mom is in home hospice and has perhaps hours left. Was at her side til 2am this morning. Been a rollercoaster for a while so did not have much time to post.
California has has quite the Covid lockdown compared to some states and my winery has been my focus when mom has not.

Stress levels have shot right down as soon as the final whilst went. I maybe surprisingly young compared to what many thought on here, but my heart isn’t, so something like today is no good for me.
So relieved now.
Tactically spot on. Very solid defensively, Morgan was a joy and a surprise, what a young player he is. We certainly created the better of the chances and now the table looks so much better. We have to follow this up with a win next Saturday, but wow, massive well done to everyone involved.

Either that or stripy nigels get dragged down somehow. I wouldn't say 2 wins would be enough I reckon 51 points total so 9 points from a possible 24 in our remaining games should see us home and hosed.
Tempting as it is to echo the "Lyle who?" comments, if he had been up front today that could have been a two or three nil win and the goal difference would look much healthier.
But as the saying goes, it is what it is, Bowyer can only play the cards he's got not the ones he wishes for and in that context played a blinder. Even more importantly all the off the pitch nonsense doesn't seem to have caused much in the way of distraction or demotivation as the Charlton squad certainly looked like having more belief and passion than a very pedestrian looking Hull.
Well how good was that!! We could, and should, have won by more, we created some excellent chances. Can only remember Dillion making 2 saves of note, 1 in each half. Every player 'stepped up' and I cant fault anyone of them!! There seems a new 'unity' among them and If we can build on this, then I believe we will stay up....next week is another huge game.....3 more points and another 'together' performance will be on the menu I believe!! What can you say other than massive win. Will instill confidence which in a relegation battle is priceless. Worry about where enough goals are coming from.
