You can hardly blame ESi for players getting season Ending injuries before they even bought the club.
Not what I meant. They’ve already replaced Leko with Green, but we need to replace both Gallagher with a goalscoring midfielder and ideally give us another good option by replacing Kayal and Ledley with another midfielder.
I was a little worried about the name at first. For those of us from a certain part of south east London, East Street is a very well known market. We might have been shopping at Lidl and Aldi under Roland but that's a step above East Street! Let's hope the name is of the relevance we were told about.
Likely to take more than 2 weeks to clear up 6 years of Roland’s mess. As well as under investment in the playing side, there is no doubt a lot to sort out back office too.
reserving judgement until 1st feb - losing gallagher and finding out they don't own the valley or sl outright is not good so need some positive transfer action now and lots of it
From his past statements, Gallen is v knowledgeable about the market and what players are out there. He talked recently about having ten targets to bring in around three signings. Under Roland he was left to get on with it (within a v limited budget).
We now have more hands-on investors, who likely wish to be more closely involved. That probably adds an element of complication while everyone gets to know each other and how best to work together.
Add that to the pressures of the January window and you can imagine it will be a bit bumpy.
Two weeks to go to rescue the season. Last year January / February was also v difficult with injuries, suspensions and the loss of Grant. Yet we got the momentum back and some. We're in a far worse trough now, of course, and a division higher.
We need a repeat of the momentum we built last season, and the season before once Bowyer took over from Robinson. Whereas the squad under Curbs usually dropped away once safety was secured, Bow has shown the opposite so far. Let's hope he can do it for a third time.

Offering Lee Bowyer a 5 year contract, when the previous owner made it difficult to get just a 1 year offer put across, is hardly a case of ESI not doing anything....
Whelmed so far, but will wait till 1 Feb. to judge. ESI have better PR (not difficult given the previous regime) but seem underprepared and inexperienced. As things stand there's a reasonable chance we'll go down. Still glad Roland's gone though.

But he hasnt signed it yet. You could find that it's on worse terms than his current one. Seeing as 6 weeks ago they said their first priority was to tie both Bowyer & Taylor down to new contracts they havent done too well.

I said some did nothing when roland was in charge not everyone. You only got to look at social media and see fans slagging off the new owners and tagging them in it things
MS has said everything that fans want to hear, has already met both the supporters Trust and visited "the trust" and has already arranged a netting with reps of fans group. Very nice.
At the same time he has managed to whip up a storm by promising very specific things that he has so far failed to deliver. He was very specific about signing, one way or another, Bowyer, Taylor, Leko and Cullen.
If he had just said, something along the lines of "review the management and playing squad's contract and ensure this never happens again and if there is any opportunity to make any loan signings permanent".
Also his line about how everyone knows who owns us and adds a naught. Doesn't ring true to me. As far as we "know" MS and HE (in a personal capacity) own us. While HE is rich beyond my wildest dreams, he doesn't appear to have the sort of money that would blow the championship apart.
That's before we mention that he "misspoke" about owning the Valley.
Last bit, why rush a deal through for the January transfer window, if you don't have anything ready to go?

in mitigation the transfer window is not yet closed but for sometime of our injury crisis has been, the January player market is a sellers market and they should have splashed some cash to help the team
HE says he is bringing in a medical team from the UAE to assess injured players, surely there are excellent medics in London - they just cost a lot

Of course but it’s a leading question as the answer is bound to be negative at this stage, and I think the point is it’s not a fair judgement point yet to be making negative assessments.
For all we know, the reason we have not signed anyone yet could solely be down to Gallen & Bowyer saying “no, that’s not fair value for that individual, don’t pay it”. Southall & co could be just as frustrated as us.
We just don’t know. Half time assessments in games ultimately prove little value as all that really matters is the full time one with half a game still to play. Let’s see how things stand in a fortnight imo. Then either platitudes or knives can come out if you do wish.

Maybe, and at the risk of being ridiculed, chastised and labelled a heretic, their intent was that Bowyer wasn't/isn't part of their plans?
Maybe Southall has come in, felt and experienced the tangible reverence in which we hold Bowyer, and is now trying to manufacture a scenario where Bowyer ultimately walks and they can then say that they offered him a new contract and he didn't want to sign it? Chuck him a few quid as severance, get him to sign a NDA, we are then none the wiser.
It may seem far fetched and appear to be a conspiracy theory of 'flat earth/9/11' proportions, but why hasn't Bowyer signed yet? He won't be making ludicrous and unrealistic demands, and if I had taken over, he'd have been the first thing that I'd have sorted out! They wanted to wait until Feb, why? Did media/fan/Bowyer pressure bring about an apparent change of mind? Are they simply working on a solution that enables them to save face, whilst at the same time addressing their original intent? It's certainly possible that, as new owners, they want to bring in their own man. They didn't take 'us' into account though, hence the need to create a face saving scenario.
Let's face it, it does come across as a somewhat perplexing, and coupled with the uncertainty surrounding ownership of The Valley etc, people will naturally ask questions and have reservations.
The whole PR, picture opportunity, daily tweeting stuff, was fine to start with. Time now to knuckle down and do the job, perhaps?

ESI have a lot to deal with. Some things are important, some things are urgent. Their task is properly to prioritise those that are urgent and deal with as many of the important things, as soon as possible.
You don't judge whether a Forumla 1 driver is having a good season part-way through the first lap. But their first lap time is pretty important. Right now, ESI are navigating their first lap, which ends on 31 January. So, by the 1 February, we will be able to tell if they've started well.
I think they are wobbling .ME has underestimated work load and the first incurred costs (transfers and outstanding contracts). I thought it was possible his visit to the UAE may have been to ask for a cash input, that didn't look like it was.

My first day I reviewed the place and compliance --- it was horrific.I showed the CEO and he was very laid back.He said in a year we are going into a £50 million refurb.When I pointed out the EHO could shut us down in 24hrs . That same day we spoke to Hong Kong and in hours i had a zero based budget to get us compliant remove the risk until the refurb took place.We claimed a lot of money off the company who undertook a flawed DD,and I spent the big shilling. MS is in a similar situation.The risk of relegation is real.We can't wait until ESI "own" us. Pre planning should have highlighted the issues not only in contracts and real estate but the impact on any budget Jan transfers have. In order for us to move on in any plan ESI have we must stay up,therefore he has to have a zero based budget---spend what is required NOW.
If we go down ESI walk away and pay Roland a few million in contract breach and we as a football club are dead. We will be toxic no one else will be prepared to buy us
