  • Bowyer said it was his contract situation holding up signings ----- still not done
Bowyer said he wanted PLAYERS in before the Fulham game ----- nothing

Hey apparently we will be fine AFTER the Fulham game and anybody concerned about the above or ESI's lack of dosh (possibly) or 5points out of 48 is a bed weter?

If like to say than fec k Rolands gone but he hasn't he still owns The Valley ,he still owns Sparrows Lane. At the moment I see no change at all
Why have they got a lack of dosh? We know they are making offers for players but teams are moving the goal post at the last minute (Blackpool being one example).

We’ve offered cash for Maddison and a wage which their chairman and manager have stated as good, but the player obviously doesn’t want to come here. How is that esi’s fault or how does that suggest a lack of funds?

Ive never bought a footballer, assuming 99.9% of people on here haven’t either. I’m guessing it takes time, say it’s 1 working week. If we spent a week on Maddison and he turned us down and the process starts again, that’s 2 weeks gone of a 4 week window.

I know  it’s frustrating that nobody has signed yet but people turning on esi after 3 weeks and stating they have no money without proof is just ridiculous.

Blackpool didn't move the goalposts at the "last minute"

They asked for one price in the summer and then a higher price five months and 15 goals later in January.
Which suggests that esi have a plan and a budget and are not prepared to pay over the top prices.  It doesn’t prove they are skint.
Unless you want no signings in January you better hope you’re wrong.

The proof is this: We turned down a player for an extra 1k a week. We haven't signed anyone but a loan player. The chairman, owner and our manager have said numerous times that the squad will be built slowly by promoting youth and buying from lower leagues (if you have money, is that your strategy?) Contract negotiations are dragging on and on and on.

What proof is there we have money? Only that we bid for Maddison? He's got 6 months left on his contract and he's definitely not staying there. I doubt it took a lot.
Southall asked gallen if he was worth it which suggests to me that there was scope to negotiate. Gallen said no! Southall’s fault???

nothing wrong with promoting youth and buying young cheap hungry players if they are good enough and then developing them and selling them at a profit. Seems to be working for Brentford! Or we could do a derby, Sheffield Wednesday, Birmingham etc and have the threat of an efl charge and points deduction.

we've had a minimum of 9 years of bad ownership but yet people are judging the new owners on 3 weeks. If not all the turnstiles are open on Wednesday, I’m boycotting!!!!

Over the top price or the market rate. His goals increase his value
Exactly. I should imagine Macauley Bonne's value has massively increased in the same way.

One poster, who was out of order, suggested a few days ago that I must think Bowyer and Gallen were cretins. Of course I don't, I think they are both great at their jobs. I just understand that even a poor manager would want some reinforcements in as early into the window as possible, given the extreme circumstances we found ourselves in with injuries, so it is a no brainer they would have wanted the same.

If you want to look at some positive statements a manager who is in the process of negotiating a contract is making, you shouldn't forget the negative clues. Like the 'strange' comment. like being angry at what Southall said originally about Bowyer being happy to wait, about potential signings asking about Bowyer's future. like explaining why a 5 year deal means nothing in itself and what Bowyer said after Preston. These are things to worry about and put them alongside the fact that no contract has been signed and there is a message that some of us can reluctantly see and some are choosing to ignore.

Don’t know, I haven’t seen the written offers so I can’t comment on if I think they are the over the top or fair, I’m assuming you haven’t seen them either?

im assuming both bids were prepared by gallen, if he says that the player isn’t worth it then that works for me. If southall pulled out the deal after gallen said the player was worth it, then yea, worry. But where is the evidence that this happened? Where is the evidence that esi are skint? Maybe you should practice what you preach and wait until a statement saying esi are skint is out on the official web site

Who is judging? I fully support the new owners, I just happen to BELIEVE them.

They said they will build the squad slowly and not splash the cash and many on here were in dreamland saying it was a smokescreen to get cheaper prices on big players.

I believe they're adapting their plan to their budget.

I'm fine with the strategy and their cash flow, I just think everyone needs to realign their expectations.

    Yes, perfect comparison.

    If Forest or Brentford said

"We'll give you £200k for Bonne cos that's what the price was in July"

We'd laugh at them but isn't that all that Blackpool have done?

If Gallen doesnt think the Blackpool striker is worth that much then I'm happy with that.

Personally I'm frustrated that we've not signed players, or the coaches, but realise that it's never easy and rarely straight forward.

The time, IMHO, to judge the window is once it's closed but fans are entitled to question what has and hasn't happened so far and to discuss the business plan without being called "bedwetters".

The proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Plus 650k is chump change for a league 1 striker nowdays, we paid 200k for Bonne from non league, two division jump there
  • Problem is no one has a clue how much money is available as we’ve seen no evidence of it, so we all draw our own conclusions based on imperfect info.

For me, I suspect there is some budget there based on the Maddison negotiations alone, but it appears they’ve made a fundamental miscalculation as to how much it takes to get players through the door in the brutal January window.

Clearly, if that’s right, then sights need to be quickly readjusted if we’re to have a good chance of avoiding relegation. ESI will have to compromise in some direction e.g. paying Maddison a bit more even though he seems a bit of a dick, but he also seems a very good player who is nearly ‘there’. Would hope there will be a flurry of activity next week, not the end of the world if we lose tomorrow night.

Bowyer now happy with his contract and just waiting for the other two to catch up and then all sign. If those three were our only bit of business this window it will have been a good one.

But we want MORE! Deals have been offered and players agents and clubs are looking around to see if other better offers come in. We probably have deals we could do now, but should we? Or should wait to see if targets higher up the list come in? If the Liverpool deal happens are we not interested in the Rangers lad - or is it the other way round? Or both? Could we go back to Blackpool or are we onto someone better?

All so exciting and would so love to know. Do we get it all or nothing? If I could shadow anyone it would be SG right now. COYR. Best window ever.
I’ll ask you that again in May if we finish bottom three.
  • A reminder that we currently have TWO loan spaces spare now, and they have been free for a week. Even if the permanent deals are dragging on, surely at least one can be fixed up by lunchtime?
  • Jordan Rhodes in advanced talks with Wigan.

Incredibly frustrating, would be a good signing for us
He Hasn't done much recently, although I would take a punt on him.

    This.
If a week is a long time in Politics, it could be 3 losses and the manager can be under pressure in football.   In Bonne case, in 3 games he went from "looking like a non League striker" quote on CL, to Macauley's agent putting out a story that Newcastle and Brighton were watching him ! TBF after his Two goals, assist and winning most ball in the air against Bristol City, Cafc would value him at least 10x more than we rated him in August, so no blame attached to Blackpool. All club use a pro rata system and strikers values goes up as each goal hits the back of the net;  which is good Football acumen.

Requirements could be changing if the likes of Cullen, Field, Taylor, Aneke are coming back.

Yes and those don't need to wait until the end of the window.

I do wonder... even though we did a great job with Conor Gallagher, Chelsea recalling him and sending him out to another Championship club was not a good look for us. I can see Premiership clubs wondering what happened there and thinking twice about loaning us their youngster, as wrong as that would be.

Exactly, bored of reading about "bedwetters" because fans are concerned our squad is currently in freefall. Every right to show that level of frustration.

I agree that come 1st February is the time to judge.
And many of us are also bored of the 'they must be skint'...'they aren't very good at there job' posts, as if others are blind to what they think they can see.

I agree that come 1st February is the time to judge.
That's fair, I don't think any of us really know how much they are willing to spend, nor should we. We definitely need to show some intention in the next 10 days though, I would imagine that is happening behind the scenes.

Not saying we are interested, but surely we could at least match what Wigan are Laying out for him? Maybe he wants to stay up North anyway.

Agree, him and Lyle up top would cause havoc.
  • We should be looking at players from clubs like Sheff Utd and Derby who need mins by going out on loan.
