Know he's been mentioned already but Just watched "Burt Bacharach - A Life in Music" - still going strong at 93. Imagine what we might have missed out on had his mother not made him have piano lessons!

    Tony Bennett is 94 today
Heartwarming story on the radio this morning about Tony Bennett who has suffered dementia for some years.

Close family and friends - including Lady Gaga who has been his singing partner rolling out the old standards - thought it would be great to give him one last concert.  They booked a 6,000 seat venue (I think it was Radio City Music Hall) - and the concert was a raging success.  When Lady Gaga came on he greeted her LADY GAGA who he hadn’t been able to name for ages.

Some days later Tony was interviewed by Anderson Cooper who asked him about the concert.  He couldn’t remember a thing about it.

    Happy 97th birthday, Jimmy Carter.
Happy birthday.  I must admit I always found him incredibly irritating, not least because of his attitude towards taxation. He has an irritating laugh and I don't think he's in the least bit funny.  And, now we have lost Sean Lock, the only reason to watch Eight out of Ten Cats is Rachel Riley.

    Still, happy birthday Jimmy.

    Jim Parks

Sussex and England wicket keeper born 21 October 1931.

For the youngsters Jim Parks (in contention alongside the late John Murray of Middlesex) was the predecessor of Alan Knott in the England test team during the sixties before he (Knotty) made the wicket keeping slot his own in the late sixties through to Kerry Packer in 1977 and then beyond. Parks generally got the nod as his batting was of such a standard that he could almost have played as a specialist batsman.

His father, James, also played for Sussex and England and his son, Bobby played first class cricket for Hampshire for many years and briefly for Kent too.

Raman Subba Row was 90 on 29th January

Former England opening batsman and Wisden Player of the Year. On the basis of those credentials alone I'm sure Riviera would have allowed him to be added to the list!
