I think you're right. I've always thought he had something about him, but it's time to out him. He looks completely uninterested - and is so unfit that's it's untrue. He's had a pre season, yet looks as if he's carrying a couple of bags of cement.
that was a tired pass to KAG at the end. Ran himself into the ground!
After being on for 20 minutes? My days he must have put in a shift
Must be very frustrating for the rest of the players, to be giving everything, because they are one player down, then Watt comes on and plays like he is not interested

I don't think the problem with watt is interest or even weight, he has lost confidence and is now shit!! The attempted pass to ahern-grant can be likened to a golfer with the yips.
Great performance by the 10 players, really giving it all out there. The sort of win that should really set the season up
Watt was shocking though, a complete waste of space out there, I've no idea why he seemed so laboured and off the pace when he's just had an intensive pre season
Great win, great performance by the players, great three points.
Not a great game but that was due to having to play with ten meeting for nearly 90 mins and a woeful Bristol Rovers side. With 11 we could have equalled the thrashings of last season.
First Rovers shot worthy of a save was on 54 minutes and there were few after that.
Good displays all round considering. Fosu was very good, Solly was Sollyesque, Kashi outstanding (biggest panic was when he went down injured)
Amos maybe didn't deal with one of two crosses as well as he could and a Deano style kick to touch but looked sound as did all the defence.
JFC got stuck in and try to pass it, Holmes good, Clarke isn't a lone striker but did it well enough.
Decent crowd too and good support for the ten men.
Looked like a sending off at first look but maybe if it wasn't opening day it would have been a yellow. Shame as yet again Novak gets a chance for a run in the team snatched away from him.
Been out digging and weeding mums garden all afternoon. I feel the win was a fair payment. Please for the lads and hope the fans there enjoyed the atmosphere, even with a half empty ground. Fair play to KR, he did all was possible with the situation.
Must be very frustrating for the rest of the players, to be giving everything, because they are one player down, then Watt comes on and plays like he is not interested
I agree. Personally I'd have kept Vetokele and shipped out watt

Wasn't the way I saw it previously but beginning to think you are right.

Vetokele had more of an impact than watt for us today.
Lets get Bristol Rovers out of the way to start with. If anybody from the Bristol camp want to say 'yeah but this, yeah but that' they are deluded.
They played against a team with no striker, a team with ten men, for 80 odd minutes, yet Charlton thoroughly deserved to win, absolutely no argument, with flags out and knobs on it was a superb display. Simply excellent.
I have not seen any replays, so I don't know the ins and outs of our goal, and to me Novak was an idiot and deserved to go, but the way we reacted was astonishing. You prepare all week and everything changes with an early sending off, and the players have to think on their feet and adapt immediately. Maybe the sending off actually helped, because there was no complacency or looking for any excuses. We adapted with intelligence, phenomenal team work and a high level of pure skill and pure class. It felt good after Ipswich all right, but this feels better (if only to suggest Ipswich was no fluke) but we have the makings.
All right, we haven't played away yet, and we now have no Novak or Magennis, but it seems to me that we have a team at the moment who are all the things Karl Robinson has consistently said he is striving for. Attacking, skilled, great (almost on a Bournemouth level of telepathy) teamwork, positive and exciting. If we are going to get a season of this stuff we are going to enjoy ourselves. It is possible to take those generalisations from a game of particulars.
You could argue against the officials, not me personally, the goal was controversial at the time, and Bristol Rovers have a lot to do to sort their team and play out, but there were wonders to behold in moments and incidents everywhere.
Da Silva outjumped Bodin twice in the space of a minute first half, outjumped the bloke, Solly was so good you could take it for granted, yet here he was repeating that two way twist we saw against Ipswich, never failing in a one on one, bursting into the area where you could almost hear his thoughts zinging out of his head in the sheer magnificence of his work.
No player it seemed to me was lest than good, most very good, and several excellent. The keeper kept a clean sheet, early to judge him but he was there when needed. I have mentioned da Silva and Solly, Pearce was absolutely what was needed in the circumstances, and Bauer, goal notwithstanding was outstanding for every minute of the game.
I have been gushing so far so what is there left for both Kashi and JFC? You could argue that they were the game managers, who along with Clarke who adapted the most quickly to the sending off and sorted the team out. No hiding from JFC or Clarke, and I counted just the one poor ball from Clarke in the whole game. Seriously guys tho, am I smitten by man love, or was Kashi plain and simple brilliant? if you see another player better than Kashi in this league this season then Fleetwood would have signed Messi.
Then we have Holmes and Fosu. Bristol Rovers simply found both unplayable, and where the midfield sorted the coping mechanisms after the set back, it was Holmes and Fosu who turned damage limitation into a win. People might have thought after 25 minutes or so 'would you take a point now?' but not Holmes or Fosu, and by osmosis the rest of the team. No way was a single point good enough for them or for Charlton today, it was almost a rollercoaster three juicy points or die trying.
One swallow and all that, but Robinson and the coaching team have indicated that they have the wherewithall, they now need the backing...especially from the board, because the fans were excellent this afternoon.
An excellent performance despite the bad officials. Disappointed by Watt, but thrilled by Fozzy. Boys worked hard for the 3 points - the crowd knew it - and showed their appreciation.
I know Tony Watt is getting moaned at for his performance on here but I think people need to take stock of the situation and the job he was potentially asked to do.
Yes he was the lone Striker for the last 10-mins and yes he barely crossed the halfway line but when that happens just watch Karl Robinson, not once did he start berating Watt to close down the opposition and it's clear that Robinson will do that if he's not happy with how the players are performing - To me it clearly looked as both him and Karlan had been told to go on as fresh legs and get involved in any counter-attacks when possible (which they did on the two occasions when able)... If they didnt have the ball then every player was to stick to their positions like glue.
Else we'd have been playing into Rovers game plan which was surely to pull our players out of position, create the space for their players to run into and so make their extra man count
There were nine (I refuse to count Watt) MEN on the field today. No boys. They can all look themselves in the mirror and say: "I put in a shift today..."

How can you refuse to include Watt... He was bloody told not to close down the opposition!!!
Very good performance, every player gave it everything they had... other than Watt when he came on.
We kept our shape really well and looked organised. Kashi and Fosu the standout players.
Whether the ball crossed the line or not we fully deserved that win. Not having Magennis and now Novak highlights the need for another striker though and we're also light in centre midfield and out wide.
Real gritty performance from all the players, thought DaSilva and Fosu in particular looked very good, but everyone else can have a pat on the back also.
Only downers were I thought Amos looked a little dodgy with his hands and Bolder esque with a couple of kick outs,Tony Watt, well don't know what to say really, fresh legs on and he looked like he'd just run his legs off for 70 minutes other than just come on. He shouldn't even be on the bench in my view.
Watt wasn't all that, but Robinson had little alternative. You could say that Reeves might have come on, but it was good psychology to keep Reeves straining at the leash as it were. There was a very minor gesturing moment between KAG and Watt near the end which was entirely out of keeping with the game. Watt and KAG (and Crofts) are very tiny margin notes in the real story of today's game.
Was sitting at the end of the West Upper at the Jimmy Seed Stand end, and at first sight thought it was a generous decision from the linesman. Was obviously not in line with it, but from what I saw couldn't have argued if he hadn't have given it.
On the flip side, also had a decent view of the sending off and thought it was a bit harsh, so maybe the two decisions evened each other out a bit.
Thought it was a very professional display against pretty limited opposition.
And as for Watt - he could start by literally pulling his socks up, so that his shinpads stay in them.

Yeah that was the one thing that pissed me off about Watt...

MOTM Fosu or Kashi
Wasn't the way I saw it previously but beginning to think you are right.
Especially playing with just one up front I don't think watt is capable of that role

Kashi is King.
Watt is a complete and utter embarrassment, get rid as far as I am concerned.
You could say that Reeves might have come on, but it was good psychology to keep Reeves straining at the leash as it were.
