Good move for him... Be good to see him make the step up after his successful loan at Bromley last season. If Magennis | Novak | RHF get injured... Who is actually fourth choice as Striker now? - Is it some kid studying for his GCSE's as part of the U18 squad?
Olly from the press team is supposed to be quite good on his day.
@CAFC official- Remember, club shop will be closing @ 14:45 this afternoon, so anyone wanting to get the names of any new signings printed on the backs of their shirts this evening can go whistle! #likethatsgonnahappen.
But you can still pick up any test results from the ticket office
Anyone making an "excuses bingo" card for when Robinson is wheeled out tonight to let us know why we failed to land a striker?
- Disgusted with the way certain clubs and individuals have conducted themselves - We had a couple where we had offers accepted but just couldn't get it over the line - The squad we've got is more than capable of competing if we don't suffer any unforeseen circumstances - We didn't feel it was worth bringing someone in who wasn't an improvement on what we've already got - We'll be in a good position to do business in the January transfer window - I'm just going to waffle at you constantly until you fall asleep or shoot yourself or forget what I'm actually talking about - I can't criticise the backing I've had from the president and CEO, but it's difficult trying to do business at the end of the transfer window
Fully expecting to be suitably infuriated by whatever bullshit he decides to regurgitate on behalf of his paymasters.
I think we should give KR some credit here. He has assembled a decent squad so far. A massive improvement on last season.

I agree, its just really frustrating to be left 1 striker short of very good

It's RD and KM any anger should be directed towards. Although KR should probably learn to keep quiet at times.

Apologist Dissenter Blah blah ;-)
But I do agree. As I said before - if Karl know who he wants and what type of player he wants - but they aren't available - then why sign someone because "some blokes on the internet want more signings". I'd still wager our backups are as good as most other clubs in the division and our young players should certainly be an improvement.
If we signed someone now that hasn't been adequately scouted and recruited then we are no different to previous years in the Roland Regime.

If KR thinks the squad is good enough then why doesn't he just say that rather than trotting out excuses for not signing players (which he's been doing all summer, virtually every time he's been interviewed.
In my opinion, the first 11 is a massive improvement on last season. The squad does not have the strength in depth to sustain a challenge across the course of the season.
14/15 - unbeaten in the first 16(?) games. Season disintegrates from November onwards, the initially brilliant Vetokele has to play through injury as there's no back up and Bikey continues to play at the back despite a complete loss of form, again because there's no back up.
15/16 - superb victories over Hull and QPR at the start of the season. No strength in depth so season disintegrates again, despite panic buying the likes of Teixeira on a ridiculous contract in January.
17/18 - repeat.
I'm not having a go at him just for the sake of it. We need players in order to make this season a success but Robinson seems quite content to make excuses for Roland's lack of investment rather than sticking up for himself.

Not buying that fully to be honest.
Yes, I'd agree with you if we had lost a key player to a long term injury in the last week and we have been caught on the hop and now scrambling around.
But we knew we would have to bring in a striker for months (even before last season finished), and that realistically Vetokele and Watt weren't going to be part of our foundation of this season and that Novak wasn't exactly happy.
You have months to put together an umbrella of options into play (you have 3-4 plan A ones for a position, then half a dozen plan B, then a dozen or so Plan Cs). Should cover a mix of ambition and realism.
Having a list of targets that it turns out we can't actually sign is not exactly great planning imo, and not really different to 'some bloke on the internet' having a potential wish list.
I like what Robinson has done with the squad over the summer and unless there is an unnecessary sale today think it has been a positive window, but this will be a real nagging frustration if something isn't resolved today.
Anyway, that's really a post for tomorrow rather than now.
Spurs must have some U23 strikers going spare? Loft? Sterling? Harrison?
Not a rumour just thinking out loud
Was literally going through their U23 squad at the weekend (cuz I get up to some crazy stuff on weekends). Harrison isn't a bad shout. Also went through City and Chelsea and they have few forwards still at the club who seem old enough and mature enough to be anywhere near ready for this league. I've mentioned David Faupala before at City, looked good a couple years ago in the FA Cup. Went to Chesterfield second half of last season and did nothing, admittedly in a shit side.

AFKA has already said it, but if you haven't adequately scouted a list of possible strikers by the 31st August, especially knowing you'll be jogging three first team forwards on, then you need beating with a sack of doorknobs

All fair points but that is the problem with Robinson constantly talking about deals and signings and who and how many he wants.
He builds the expectation and optimism when he doesn't have the final say.
Unsurprisingly other clubs don't have to sell to Charlton or agree with the fees we offer even if Karl sees that as other clubs "disrespecting" Charlton (or MK Dons when he first said it). And of course as at any club there is a budget at Charlton.
Robinson has done well so far this summer, got a lot of his targets, shifted a lot of players he didn't want, not sold any kids yet and the team is doing well and looks like having a good season on the evidence of few games played so far.
If only he'd learn to shut up and let the results do the talking for him once in while.
Looking at our squad now, we obviously need a striker. Possibly short on the wing because of the injury to Marshall. Not defending the club because you always need a Plan B, C, etc but they were clearly putting their eggs firmly into the basket of Mavididi. Would have completed the squad nicely but as I said, should have had other options as he joined Preston over 3 weeks ago.

Think that other option was the unrealistic signing of Will Grigg
What the club need to ask themselves is would they sell Josh Magennis or Ricky Holmes to Wigan this summer, the answer would clearly be no because under no certain terms would you want to risk selling to a rival

I am gonna go FLAG crazy quite soon!
That should surely mess them up?
Looks set to go to either Preston or Cardiff for up to £300k

Where's Andy Delort's dad when you need him?
