Mate's a Bristol City fan and I went to a couple of games when Akinde played. So bad. Like Bambi on ice. That was awhile ago I guess but he looked terrible back then.
If it's between him and Ceballos I'd rather Ceballos. I hope KR is going to go for players who can interchange in that front three because right now the following can play in the #10 role: JFC Ceballos Fosu Holmes Clarke Watt Aribo
I think the bigger question is who will nail down that spot, but we've got numbers to cover. I think the bigger hole is a back-up for Magennis that isn't Novak.
Based on what? Reeves is proven in League 1 and may end up signing for a Championship club.
Ceballos is 24 and only first experience he's had was a spell in Portugal, last season in Belgium and a few appearances for us.
Ceballos came through at Barcelona and Spurs. In his brief stint at the start of 2015-16 I thought he looked decent. He didn't get a pre-season, then broke his foot and struggled to get back. He's been with us for a while, he seems more settled, and he's been head and shoulders above everyone else in pre-season thus far.
I think Reeves is a very good player at this level. I think he would have been a very good signing in January. But he still seems to be without a club ten weeks after the season ended, and to me it seems he might think he's worth more than he is. Apart from a handful of games at Southampton he's only played above League One one season. Again, good player at this level, but we have a lot of players in his position.
What are they doing in deckchairs? They should've been training hard during the day and then playing another pre-season friendly tonight against a side already playing competitive League fixtures.

Michael Morrison started out at Cambridge Utd. I'd much rather him over Sarr who came through at Lyon then moved on to Sporting.
Ceballos obviously has technical ability. He wouldn't have been at those clubs otherwise and we've seen glimpses of it. Bauer also looked decent over a longer spell but was less convincing last season. Watt has ability on the ball but offered little after returning from Hearts.
The question marks over him are whether he has the physical strength, character and consistency to potentially play 40+ games in League 1. Someone like Therry Racon could look composed and skilful on the ball at times but Danny Hollands was far more effective as a central midfielder.
I'd definitely like to see Ceballos get another chance. I would just be a bit cautious about throwing him straight into the team, especially in a central role where he's expected to be the playmaker running our midfield. Clarke was signed for the position but he doesn't seem to be a real stand out player - surely that's why we were/are interested in Reeves.
Does Robinson even know Ceballos' best position, nevermind us the fans? Could also put a case for playing on the right where he can cut in or down the left on his natural side.
He scored 80 goals in 130 games so pretty good return and he's a beast
I can only tell you what I saw. Technically abysmal and way out of his depth. But he may have honed his skills in the past few years. Anyway it's probably bollocks. Just passing on a view.
Hate to say it but I've got a bad feeling about this season. The close season so far reeks of familiarity. No senior goalkeeper, no deal for KR pin-up boy Reeves, only negotiating a loan for £800k big buy Nicky, the kit not ready for Ireland and no release date for the new home and away one, three friendlies back to back, network no hopers lingering. I dunno, it all feels worryingly familiar. Piss up in a brewery springs to mind.

Welcome to the Charlton era where Katrien Meire reigns supreme and Sue Parks shouts down anyone that has the audacity to question it (whilst stuffing her face). When things start to fall apart (mid September), we'll be languishing in mid table and hear the same old drivel as we do year after year.

I know where you are both coming from but let's wait and see. Still time for them to shift the high earning flops and bring in some new players.
I haven't signed in to this for almost a year, and I have just remembered why! Everyone on here turns what has been a reasonably good start to pre-season and a time (If not the only time) to be positive into worry, negativity and panic.
Katrien is a moron, Duchatelet is emotionless and disinterested, however they are not going, we can not make them, and Charlton fans, who without doubt in 24 years of supporting them have always been as bad as Arsenal fans, forgetting any positive and jumping head first towards the negative are contributing heavily to our downfall!
Back the team for balls sake!
For what it's worth, mistake after mistake is difficult to take, but I don't see those same mistakes coming in this year yet! Signed some decent british players, kept hold of our best players, haven't really heard from Katrien at all, the first 2 weeks training was a step in the right direction, and we have charlton back into the club in terms of coaches.
Phillips
Solly, Pearce, Konsa, Page (When fit)
JFC Kashi
Marshall Clarke Holmes
Magennis
stands for decent reading without signings (Which there is plenty of time for!!!)
Not to mention
Tex, Bauer, Crofts, Watt, Fosu, Aribo, Ahearne-Grant, Barnes, Lennon, Ceballos and some decent youngsters in and around
So cheer up, back the team, ignore 'the regime' and stop ruddy moaning!

Nothing has changed. Same old Katrien Meire and Roland Duchatelet.

It's not losing Ajose. It's the way in which it's done that points to problems. Can you remember when the club had competent people in charge who ran the club smoothly?

Welcome John Akinde.
4 year deal?
I wonder who we can send him out to on loan next year?
That was awhile ago I guess but he looked terrible back then.

Barnet then got him to sign a new 3-year contract - so he'll no doubt cost a fee.
