    Just walked out of Ladbrokes. Asked the old girl Beryl the Bet if she would give me some odds on Peter Varney somehow being involved in background discussions / negotiations or an advisory role with a consortium potentially considering a bid for Charlton Athletic.

    She just stared at me for 30 seconds and said “you’re not 18 love, r ya?” And I had to say no and leave. Normally I’d be sheepish with my tail between my legs but this time I was half expecting it following your helpful warning.

    Just when you thought things couldn't get any more confusing on this thread, I re appear. Hopefully fill up my knowledge tank tonight and will of course divulge if anything notable where possible. Has the discrepancy between red henrys multiple parties still involved and airmans done deal been resolved yet? Fingers crossed for a big announcement tonight, doubt it though.

    I get Lai buying a club for whatever ridiculous amount it was and not wanting them to be in the Championship, but West Brom have traditionally been a really well run yo-yo club. I know there was discontent with Tony Pulis, and the Saido Berahino thing was weird, but I'd say West Brom are about at their level, fighting to stay up in the Premier League. That said, you don't make friends appointing Tony Pulis and Alan Pardew, you either stay in the division or have a man who can dance like, really really well.
