We were fucking awful, who would have thought one change would take us from the Bristol Rovers to this shower of shit?
But that is exactly what happened, as they exploited the space offered up by the completely pointless Jackson.
Think you also have to take the difference in quality of opposition into account
They weren't all that, though, and only scored a set piece routine as none of our players reacted at all. I'd argue Phillips made more saves against Bristol than he did today as well.
Not quite on it again today, sounded to me like their formation was giving them the upper hand more than a man for man advantage in quality.
Not digging Nugent out, but someone more tactically astute may have spotted that our slowish midfield was always going to struggle to assert itself against a 3 man midfield and done something from the start to counter act it. Certainly after a half an hour, good old Curbs would have gone like for like - it was a favourite 'plan b' of his and often worked. Had Solly been fit, we maybe could have moved Fox inside, brought Chicksen on and gone 5-3-2, but Foley is no wing back and the squad lacks options and versatility. Alternatively we could have switched to 4-5-1, never a popular move at home, but not always negative if executed correctly. As a plan b it would have better suited what was on the pitch/bench.
As it was plan b seemed to be to throw all the attackers on at once, which always strikes me as the action of a manger lacking in imagination and ideas. Fortunately, one thing the Slade/Nugent era has definitely instilled in the team is some resilience, and not for the first time that saw us wrestle a point from a game that we could have finished empty handed.
Positives are we have now played Scunthorpe (twice), Sheff U and Bolton and lost none of those games. Negative is we only managed to win one and that is the challenge for Robinson - to make us more threatening in attack whilst not losing the backbone and relative defensive soundness we have.
Promotion is very much still a possibility - KR needs to hit the ground running and have a good Christmas period and then be given some more players both to improve the first XI and to bulk the squad and make it more versatile. Oh, and not have any prize assets sold from underneath him.
I'm quietly hopeful we will still manage to do this, but I'm also not going to hold my breath that all three of the things I mention above come to pass while Katie & Co are in the building.
Ha, an absolute pisstake of a point - so underserved... Hahahaha.
I hope every one of the pricks in their support on Flloyd Road before the game with the taxis feel absolutely pig sick.
What does this mean?
He means he hopes that the Sheffield United fans who were performing some kind of (unspecified) prickish act involving taxis (presumable the ones handed out by CARD rather than actual black cabs) all feel pig sick having conceded a late equaliser in a game they deserved to win.

And in English ?
Whoops - that made no sense.
There were a group of their fans causing some trouble with the taxis outside the ground, ripping balloons off of them, banging them etc. There were kids in the cabs and it wasn't on.
They made fools of themselves and I'm so happy that they will be pissed off by that result.
We were 2nd best but the game is about goals not possession stats or shots.
Sheffield United pressed and passed well but didn't get the 2nd goal, good side though made to look better by our lack of movement when in possession. Very much a point gained.
Strange to change a winning side. While Chicksen wasn't great he is more mobile than Jacko. Good free kick won by the tricky Botaka. Novak was the third effective sub.
Had Bauer at 18s for last goal so extra happy with the protest time winner.
Atmosphere hugely improved from Port Vale, louder, longer and more varied chants both anti-regime and supporting the team.
Everybody knows a last minute equalizer is a classic in football, as is daylight robbery, and we managed to combine the two.
Leaving to one side that it is two points dropped, and we are back to 12 points behind target, there was a lot of virtue in that effort today. Sheffield United were excellent, backed brilliantly by their travelling faithful, and they gave us no peace of any kind. it was one of those games where it felt the opposition had more players. However the energy they expended right up to the last 15 minutes probably cost them. ironically it was when their goalscorer, and best player Duffy went off with what looked like cramp that we began to get back into the game. By then we had brought on the lightening fast Chicksen (pity about his final ball though), the put yourself about Novak, and the worrying to them Botaka, these substitutions I thought made a huge difference, and well done Kevin Nugent there. However Nugent was only really able to play those cards because we were getting well beaten but we hadn't given up and were still in the game. For that we have home debutant Dillon Phillips to thank, he made some great saves and was my man of the match. People might criticise Phillips for the first goal but it was a brilliantly clever free kick routine that Sheffield United were wise to try against an inexperienced goalkeeper. Yes Phillips clear MOTM for me overall, some good catches, good kicking, one excellent throw out to Lookman. I have always liked what I've seen of Dillon and I'm glad he did well. Our outfield players were all honest enough, Lookman and Magennis a bit better than most, our midfield still creaking, especially when measured against Sheffield United's. I felt both Crofts and Fred were below par, but that is because their opponents were at them the whole game. In the game overall, Sheffield United gave us no opportunity to play, and when they had the ball they were constantly dangerous, with impressive teamwork. We deserved a draw in as much as any team that keeps on keeping on deserves it, but football wise Sheffield United were a class above and the best team we have played by quite a distance.
They say if you can't win don't lose, which I am glad about for Charlton Athletic, but for Sheffield United today was more if you should win, don't draw.
First game for quite a while. Sat in front of three guys who called me and my son 'tossers' for throwing a taxi each onto the pitch. I pointed out I was a thrower not a tosser.
They then proceed to show their Charlton knowledge by calling Magennis, McShannis, Bauer was Bure and Ulvestad the number 17 who we must have just signed.
They also decided that Leon Clarke was in fact Leon Best who used to play for us!
Anyway the game saw an absolutely awful performance by us. Sheffield United were first to pretty much every ball and played through and around us with contemptuous ease.
Phillips made two wonderful saves. Bauer and Pearce looks an ok pairing. Fox was,I'm afraid, a liability.
Crofts telegraphs his passes so much that he may as well announce it over the PA system. Lookman had a few decent touches.
'McShannis' was our best player I thought because at least he puts a shift in. A typical front two situation where the workhorse wins his headers and chases the ball down while the finisher does very little. Ajose was lazy off the ball and rightly received a dressing down from his strike partner.
I thought the subs were made at the right time and had an impact. Chicksen and Botaka brought something different to our attack.
A deserved point? Nowhere near but at least we got something.
Lots of work to do with this squad, particularly the midfield who are not creative or mobile.
Was good to go again but to be honest I'm not feeling that urge to go back next week which is sad to say. I don't feel a connection to anything to do with the club except the supporters who share my desire to rid us of the regime. Unfortunately the three stooges sat behind me are a reminder that there is plenty of work to be done to achieve that aim.
So glad we got a point against a team who gave us a football lesson. They were sly and cunning also so just deserts were done. And to all those utd fans giving it large at charlton station as we equalised. ..up you.

Why were you at Charlton Station when we equalised?

Sheff Utd fans spitting at the Roland Taxi as it drove past, & popping the black & white balloons. Classy bunch.

It's actually pathetic.

Young talent being inconsistent shocker
