Hardly any London or Southern teams next year. Even less if Millwall or Gills go up. Away days will involve long journeys to depressing places that don't serve beer in the away end.

And yet that is still preferable to many people than the prospect of giving RD their wedge.

Well done those chaps, I admire your determination.

    Except it ain't gonna happen.

I heard that under 1k tickets have been sold so far.

As a matter of interest, how does this compare to previous (normal) seasons. I guess a drop-off would be expected with relegation, so is this 20%, 40% or what lower than usual at this stage.
I'll have look at previous years when I get a chance, but there's always a big bulge in deadline week. So IF they've got about 1,000 now, I would guess it will be 3,000-plus by the end of the weekend. That number would be a complete and utter disaster by any standard back to 1997 though.
This wasn't a prediction, by the way. I don't have a clue what the number will be, the point I was making is that even today's figure wouldn't be a good guide to the figure on Saturday.

I had to laugh at the idea they will close online renewal at current prices at 5.15 on Saturday though, reported on the website, where it also says all tickets WILL go up by £25. Just why would you not allow people to renew online on Sunday, if for example, they'd been reminded at the match or changed their minds. How does that benefit what they are trying to do?
My fear is this is one of RD/KM's rants. i.e. it's going to be a 'we'll show you' and they will stay (for the first time ever) true to their word and open up all non renewed seats onto general sale.

Yeah, even more decide not to bother.

But even if they do there has to be buyers - where do you think the 'demand' for the seats of those who delay renewing, or even those completely boycotting, is going to come from....?

  • RD buys up 4,000 seats across the ground to raise attendance numbers and them gives them out for free to friends of his friends for free who never turn up.

    Just to spite the fans.

Buying them with money loaned to cafc at 3 percent of course.

  • Oh bollocks. Of course he has no friends.

He will buy them with a stay pricks company and then Katrien will hand them out to randoms.

She will do a deal where every new flat you buy in Acton comes with a free season ticket to Charlton.

That sort of friends of friends.

But if there's minimal investment in a squad for bouncebackability to the Championship the following season, those randoms won't be taking up those freebies for too long....

Football with no heart or soul at The Valley will be all that's on offer.

And even non footballing peeps will not waste their Saturday afternoons to partake of the Charlton Experience.

  • A It's going to be difficult getting an away ticket next season, in small stadiums, with with all these home boycotters doing aways only.

B In the main it'll be the same hardy 700 going.

    You decide

You can bet that the club will refuse to sell any away tickets to non season ticket holders as well.

I wonder how that works for all those that are only going to go away?

Cash on the day easy. We're not known for a large away following.

Bottom 10 of away % to home average of the 92 clubs.
  • I guess KM is back from her holiday?

"Fans should be aware that all season tickets not renewed by Saturday’s deadline will be released and placed on general sale, with prices increasing by £25."

    Hey, fixed that for you:

"The Club should be aware that my season tickets are not being renewed by Saturday’s deadline, are not going to be renewed, and that you can sell my seat to whoever you like, I don't give a shit. In addition, they'll be more space for bouncy castles in the West Stand Car Park next season."

I might even commit to drinking some of the bloody awful beer that is served at the Valley.

The ale stall in the East Stand is one of the few improvements brought in since RD took over!

I am glad you have found something where KM has demonstrated some competence. A career as a pub landlady clearly beckons once she leaves the Valley (apologies to any real pub landladies). Anyone for a pint down at the Rat and Squirrel.

The Rat and Squirrel in a Bucket? I know that place, happy to drink there.

I can understand why people will boycott buying a ST for next season. I am one of them. It's not only becuase I want to hurt the owners financially, but I also have no interest in watching the exceptionally poor team at the moment and get very little enjoyment from attending games. The appeal is even less when considering a watered down squad and League 1 opposition........

This hits the nail on the head for me. Yes there are many fans who will continue going whatever dross is served up but I'm sure there many who are simply fed up with the poor quality on the pitch already and this will certainly get worse next season. Does that make me a "customer" rather than a "fan"? I don't think so - I was a season ticket holder back in the 70s when Gliksten was bleeding the club dry and also was happy to renew 7 years ago when we were relegated but I've just had enough of this regime and can think of better ways of spending my time and money than the soul destroying spectacle of watching an ill equipped squad get beaten week in week out. Wouldn't mind if we were genuinely skint - would be happy to renew but we're in this position because of one wealthy arrogant deluded man. I hope a season ticket boycott helps him on his way but I won't be able to bear it if he stays.
I totally agree with you East Kent Addick and I have certainly seen some dross in my time over the years. But even in this time I never missed a home game (okay a handful for weddings etc) because there was always a hope that things could improve! Even when that hope was faint (never ever thought that Charlton would reach the top tier in my lifetime) there was a least one player that kept my interest up and with whom I felt I might share some form of empathy with.
Well I have lost hope for us under this regime and I have decided, like many others, to go for the nuclear option and boycott. It is a shame that some supporters will undermine our action by buying another season ticket but that is for them to reconcile with their stance towards the regime.
It could have been all so different……….
  • From the OS.

"Fans should be aware that all season tickets not renewed by Saturday’s deadline will be released and placed on general sale, with prices increasing by £25".

Am I nitpicking or does that not really make sense? After all, you don't release a season ticket but a seat.

Anyway, we'll see if they really do stick to their guns..
  • edited April 2016
The owner should be aware that a large proportion of existing season ticket holders would rather set fire to their house than buy a season ticket under the current management team.
  • I'm pretty sure come Monday all seats that have not been renewed will go on general sale, whether they will all have a £25 increase I wouldn't be so sure, but on sale they will be.

I've said this for a while, they will become vindictive, with the protest being 'don't renew early' this is their version of a protest, vindictive and ridiculous maybe, but thats the type of people we are dealing with.
  • Ultimately they don't care if those that will not renew lose their seats. They are so spiteful and arrogant they don't care, at all, about appeasing the fans (or their customers) and will happily punish all those that don't agree with them.
  • Hopefully fans do not reward the clubs vindictive behaviour over this by giving in.
