If I was in any doubt about renewing early the way they have gone about this convinced me not to. The threat and tones disgust me. I paid £275 for my ticket last year, they want to now charge me £400 as they have taken away my concessionary rate. For Third tier football!!! Haha. If I move 1 block to the left it would be £500. Perhaps Daisy would understand if it was £275 for a Michelin star restaurant (in Dubai???), prices would be raised as they have recruited a Macdonalds frier!
If you're in the 60-65 range and had a concessionary ticket, this will continue if you renew, so I'm not sure what you are talking about.
Last year they made an announcement they would honour it. I have no such announcement this year. The pack I was sent had no mention it. Why are you so sure about this?

IIRC they said if you were already 60, you wouldn't have to pay the increased price until you reached aged 65.
Only fans just reaching age 60 would have to pay the increase.
You'll need to contact the ticket office to check it out.
One piece of good news for me is that I overheard the 3 cockwombles who've sat behind me for 3 years say yesterday that they aren't coming back next year even if the Belgian mafia sell up. Oh the sweet joy

This is what the OS says: The club will continue to honour all senior concessions season ticket holders who were affected by price changes in the 2014/15 season.
Depressed (though frankly not surprised) by the number around me who have renewed after a lot of "soul searching". I'm sticking to my guns and not doing it.
One piece of good news for me is that I overheard the 3 cockwombles who've sat behind me for 3 years say yesterday that they aren't coming back next year even if the Belgian mafia sell up. Oh the sweet joy
Where do you sit, because I've got three helmets who sit in front of me in the East who complained and booed all season saying they'll renew as no other fuckers will 'support' the club like they do.
I think we need to retain the moral high ground and the terms of renewal have been known for long enough.
There is no way Mandy, the ticket office manager is making policy decisions.
We quite rightly criticise the club for not running it properly and I have been outspoken more than many, regarding Katrien's incompetence and was one of the first to say so.
But it makes no business sense, when fans have decided not to purchase their seat, to then hold it for a longer period.
It is quite likely that 50% will not renew at all, that's 5000 fans. So why would the club not sell that seat if someone does want to buy it. It would be foolish in the extreme not to.
I can't think of any business that would not sell vacant seats and refuse sales on the basis that last year's holder may possibly renew at sometime up to 4 months down the line.
If affordability is the issue finance is available.
I go to a lot of gigs and there are often priority sales. If I rang up after the priority period to buy a ticket for an August gig and the ticket office refused, because priority holders were being given another couple of months after the deadline had finished, I would be speechless.
I can't believe I'm defending the club, but like I say we have to be logical here and think clearly or we lose the moral high ground.
I disagree with this. Ignoring the Charlton relative factors, if any of the current ST holders want to wait until the summer to make a decision (based on any number of factors - the team/squad, their personal circumstances, a change of heart) if they come back to renew and discovered that one of their seats has been taken they are less likely to renew. A fan that wants to change his seat, or hasn't had a season ticket before is less likely to be put off by a specific seat not being available.
Thus, existing seats are significantly more valuable and more desirable to the ST holder that already sits there than, almost, anyone else. Sure, if you have a parent that wants to being another child and, therefore, wants another seat close to theirs they might be keen on a seat that someone else has but they are less likely not to renew theirs at all if they can't have the seat next to them - something that might happen to another family if one of their seats is sold.
The way to do this is to offer a discount (and £25 isn't, really, enough) to ensure that those that have already decided will renew early and then make those that decided later in the summer pay more. The issue that the club's behaviour has highlighted is that they, probably, don't anticipate having a better 'product' to sell in July. That makes it look likely that they will, indeed, sell players and replace then with dross, or, likely, no one at all.
The threat was spiteful and desperate. I suspect they will have sold a few more seats by today (probably a lot, in actual fact) which was the aim, but I think the long term consequence will be fewer seats sold by August than if they'd allowed the deadline to just be the discount going.
Having said all that, I don't think they will make it easy for any existing seats to be sold. I'm not going to beat about the bush here but I think that those running the club lie to us so much that they may well have no intention of releasing any of the 'reserved' seats at all. The club has (and not just this set of owners) made bold statements when selling season tickets that have turned out to be untrue just about every year I can remember. I don't think I can recall the deadline not being extended - be it due to the post, due to possible relegation, due to someone in the ticket office doing a bad fart and having to evacuate the building for two minutes. It's hard pressure sales and we should be better than that.
On a separate point, making a comparison with Palace is ridiculous. They will probably have close to (if not above) 95% occupancy of their seats next season. We will do will to have over 50%. Chances are that Palace could sell any seats that are not taken up so the dynamic (from a business point of view) is just not comparable.
Unusual but bold approach from Leeds, who are offering supporters up to a 50% refund on the net price of their season tickets next season if they fail to qualify for the play-offs...

NWQ. I haven't renewed and won't until Douchebag Foxtrot Oscars but nonetheless it's pleasing to know that when/if I do then Dumb,Dumber and Dumbest won't be there

Does anyone have a (fairly) accurate figure of how many renewed or bought for the first time (they might be under the impression we are a going-places club) by the deadline ... and how this compares with previous seasons?

The only people who would have done that are presumably in the £175 seats (which is a very good offer it has to be said)

Don't forget we had the offer of a free season ticket if we, renewed our season ticket when we left the priemership and gained promotion back to it in one season.
Let's face it, hardly anyone will suffer here by not renewing. There simply isn't a queue of people who want your seat anyway. Even if the odd person loses theirs because someone wants to get a mate in next to them - there are so many spare seats, you just shuffle along or up or down row if you feel the need to renew come August. Unless he's selling and likely to be gone by August, my bet is that Meire will be sacrificed in an attempt to get the majority of absent season ticket holders to renew and that they will try to entice us by not charging anymore than the Early Bird price. That would be the smart move (even though they seem pathologically unable to make a smart move).
The original article regarding the renewing of season tickets is STILL on the OS even though the deadline has passed. Can't even get that right and still showing as posted on 9th May.
Still making stupid mistakes, do they really think that we believe they have learned from their mistakes?

To be fair to the ticket office - Olly explained some time ago that it's only dated as May as the Content Management Systems sorts articles by date and that way it stays at the top.
I love this concept of people being concerned about losing their beloved seat! There will be about 20,000 empty seats next season; even if that seat that you've lovingly kept warm for the last 25 years is taken, I'm sure if you look hard enough, you'll be able to find a vacant seat not too far away. Also, how many new season ticket holders will we genuinely have? Is it time for the people on the waiting list to get excited?
Unless you sit in the North lower, I'd say that those of you with worries should be sleeping easy.....
So. Leaving aside the fact that I'd rather gouge my own eyes out than give fucktard douchbag any money, the morning after relegation they now expect me to pay £25 more that I paid this year to watch an inferior league next season. Yeah right. They haven't got a scooby
They have now changed it. £550 for my seat is extortionate.
Worth every penny to watch us outplayed by the likes of Northampton, Shrewsbury, Fleetwood & Bury after the people running our club underestimate the strength of League 1. :-)

They've never been a Promotion threat since coming up from League One and have always been around mid-table.
